WatchBarbaraKnit yes Barbara, you knit into the center stitch below but, you also do an increase on either side and lengthen the stitches ( I think it was worked over four rows)
My hands are severely crippled with arthritis, and even a tiny breeze can cause pain, so I wear fingerless mitts all day, every day. I even sleep in them. I have made over a hundred pairs in every weight except fingering and lace. I work them flat, because my fingers don't bend enough to work with small circulars. It's a great way to try out new stitches and to play around with what will relax or tighten the fabric. It's also a great project to use one skein or less.
I have been contemplating the worked flat variety - do you have a pattern that is your favorite with that construction? Do you work a gusset or just leave a hole for the thumb when seaming?
Barbara, J don't have a pattern for the gloves; I have a recipe I put together myself. I've been sick in bed for over a week. Give me a couple of days to recover, and I'll write things down and send you an email at your Ravelry address, if that's okay.
Thank you for the lovely video! I really liked the patterns you showed, a few of them are now in my Ravelry queue, especially the gauntlet style ones. You pronounced Araluen right the first time you tried. It's a tiny (168 people!) country town near where I live.
Hello Barbara, I love this pattern, but would like to convert it to sock weight yarn, or fingering weight. I made a pair of DK wt. fingerless mitts and found them too hot and bulky, as I'd like to wear these when I knit and crochet (for arthritis). Is it possible to tell me (approximately) how to adjust your pattern for fingering yarn?
I am so glad you like the pattern and the short answer, it isn't really something that is easy to do. I actually have the long answer in video form: ruclips.net/video/VwA5QxLmt54/видео.html
I keep looking and searching for the link to your FB group but I can’t find it. I love your videos and look forward to joining your group and chatting. On revelry I am KnitSmallStuff
Hi! I am glad you like my videos. All of the links are found in the description below the video. How you access this section is dependent on what platform you use for viewing RUclips. But there is usually a under the video where you see the first few lines of the description and then there is a "view more" option, or a down arrow, or some clickable ellipses. It is important to be able to access this section because it is where I put all of the links to the good stuff!
Oh holy wow, the ‘Felicitous Mitts’ are just beautiful. Dang, I may actually have to knit these. Not sure my 9-year-old nephew is the appropriate recipient for these particular mittens or not... ;) No, his dad would kill me... But I know someone who they WOULD be perfect for. Thank you for sharing your awesome taste!
I adore fingerless mitts, and have knit many. My favorite pattern is probably Spirogyra by Lynne Vogel (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spirogyra). A few years back I had such fun adding beads to that pattern, repeatedly. As you liked Pulso, you might also take a look at Victorian Gauntlets by Katherine Summer O'Neal (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/victoria-gauntlets); they also have some shaping, and the re-occurring picot edging.
Thanks for finding these. Will be a steep learning curve learning how to knit some of these. The felicitous lace fingerless glove is stunning
It's great to stretch your skill set!
Ooo, love the Caffeine Fingerless mitts, and your lovely alpaca ones, which are on my knit list for fall. These fav 5 are so interesting to see.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! The Caffeine ones are fabulous.
Knit my first pair last year and had a blast! Now I want to make them all. Thanks Barbara
MAKE THEM ALLLLLL!
LOL I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I’ve decided to use all the sock yarn I got for mits 😊
Sounds like an excellent plan.
I'm seeing more of these mitts in my future. I especially liked your mosaic ones.
Thank you! Now's the time to start holiday knitting.
Thank you, I just watched a video on that stitch this morning, you’re right they are all beautiful mitts. 😁👍🏻
Cool! Was I right about the knitting below?

I haven't knit fingerless knits, fearing the thumb gusset. But your video is an inspiration to at least try.
Thanks,
Cathy
Hmm, I wonder if I can explain a thumb gusset in a 5 MinKnit video. I might try that!

You pronounced Araluen right the first time you tried. It's a tiny (168 people!) country town near where I live.
I always mess up pronunciation, I hope it's part of my charm LOL.

I want to make the dagda mitts but it says no longer available on line. Do you know if the pattern is in a book? Thanks
I’m afraid that the designer of these mitts has deactivated all of their patterns and they are no longer available.

Very cool choices!
New subscriber:) Love your videos:) Love your hair also:)
Thank you and welcome. My hair can be a hot mess, but I have fun with it.
Haha I'm trying this but with fingering yarns (cuz I found like 5 balls of it)
Best of luck and have fun!
I like the look of finger-less mitt but they don't keep my hands warm. Mainly my fingers so I don't make them.
Makes sense!
