  • Successful Meet the Author Session at PU Library Book club Event
    The Punjab University Library Book club held a successful 'Meet the Author' session at the Library Auditorium on May 15, 2024, featuring two distinguished authors, Dr. Muhammad Ahsan Rana and Prof. Dr. Nasir Abbas Nayyar, who presented their insightful works to an engaged audience.
    Dr. Muhammad Ahsan Rana, Associate Professor of Social Policy at LUMS, discussed his book "Hain Kawakib Kuch" focusing on Welfare Capitalism and its implications for Pakistan's economy and society. Delving into the intricacies of state expenditures on welfare despite fiscal constraints, Dr. Rana provided insightful perspectives on tax collection mechanisms, highlighting the absence of social insurance in Pakistan and advocated for equitable distribution within Pakistan's economic framework. His elucidation of inclusive participation within production systems resonated profoundly with the audience.
    Following this enlightening session, Prof. Dr. Nasir Abbas Nayyar from Institute of Urdu Language & Literature presented his book titled "Coloniality, Modernity and Urdu Literature," offering profound insights into the complex interplay between colonialism, modernity, and Urdu literature. Prof. Nayyar underscored the indispensable role of colonial modernity in shaping the trajectory of modern Urdu literature, navigating through its engagement with colonial legacies and the multifaceted nature of modernity. The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, drawing a diverse audience of students, faculty, and intellectuals. On behalf of Punjab University Library, Dr. Muhammad Haroon Usmani (Chief Librarian) extended sincere thanks to Dr. Muhammad Ahsan Rana and Prof. Dr. Nasir Abbas Nayyar for sharing their expertise and enriching the academic experience for all attendees.
