Watching this while playing and didn’t even realize that you aren’t some massive channel. That’s a damn shame, this is high quality content. Keep it up man!! It’ll come
Nice to see a boss that actually makes us a bad person for killing. The boss was just defending it's friend who in turn was keeping Mournestead safe from the Putrid Mother. Also I think it was the kid talking before the boss battle at 28:18, not Dervla, which is why the talking stops when Dervla puts a hand on his shoulder.
Dervla is such a cool design. Her story is great too but i wish we got just a bit more about her. Like how she became a dark crusader or her early life
In all my playthroughs, I never connected the dialogue you hear right before the Dervla fight to be from Dervla herself, rather I thought it was the child saying this. This is augmented by the fact that all of Dervla’s sounds she makes when injured in the first phase of the fight sound deeper than the initial dialogue. Moreover, at the end of the initial fight, the subsequent cutscene has the child screaming as it posses Dervla’s corpse and the sounds the child makes sound more similar to the initial dialogue.
It's just a theory, but I think taht the boy may be an experiment of Molhu, like Pieta. After all, Molhu has been trying to creat th" perfect vessel" for a long time, but the boy was a "failled experiement" and was discarded.
I mean, it's possible, but I don't think it has to do with Molhu since the boys' power is that he blocks the presence of Umbral, which I don't think Molhu would ever want since that contradicts his aim to severe the veil between Umbral and Axiom. Even if Molhu had a hand and didn’t intend for the boy to have this power, he would have just killed him and his parents rather than letting him go and his parents wouldn't be alive in the first place because Molhu is known to kill parents of the children he kidnaps to experiment on simply because he has no use for them, such as Pieta who was a succes and still killed her mother
@@nomad15067 yeah me too, however if there is DLC or new questlines I can imagine them adding more detail to the boys backstory especially if it's more Umbral related. Maybe by focusing on a new character related to him or just expanding his role for like new endings or something. Just speculation
I really love the nod though, to both. The connection to Guts and Artorias, who are also battling against a ghost world/abyss entity and the Lothric and Lorian connection driving home the whole bond/promise thing and the struggle against the status quo. I feel like the devs deliberately represented those, to make you see Devla's intent and role in their game. People will say it's just a blatant copy, but don't forget Artorias was the original Guts ripoff made by Miyazaki himself :D
Great video! The unbroken promise was such a great and interesting boss. Keep ‘em coming, please. It would be interesting to see a video about Adyr and whether or not he was the cruel tyrant in the past he's been painted to be.
The umbral really reminds me of the legacy of kain and the elder god. It’s an older game, ps1 days but the main character raziel can phase into the spectral realm by dying. Even the putrid mother kinda looks like the elder god. Not taking anything from the game at all, really enjoying everything so far.
My only criticism is that some of the areas of the game are quite dark, so it may be worthwhile to get some footage of especially dark areas with the brightness settings turned up in game. When you were going over the appearance of the cistern near the first quarter of the video, the footage is so dark you cant really see whats going on in the video.
@@alselein7155 Yes, i thought so, i didn't even know about that questline but before every boss fight there is Umbral remembrance about boss's past, do you know he transformered into a giant, also is that tortured prisoner his wife?
I love the lore of this game, Dervla was such a cool character and a very cool boss fight, but I feel like her lore is similar to another's from Dark Souls, I feel her lore is similar to that of Gundyr
This was great as she's one character I was very interested in. One correction tho, I'm pretty sure the one talking in the cutscene is the child. The voice is too child-like to be Dervla.

It is the kid talking, thought that was obvious for everyone
@@alselein7155 Apparently not to the video creator.
I wonder what happens if you don’t kill harrower dervla
@@calebfleming123it doesn't effect the story, I didn't even know about this boss fight before this video

The armor set from her remembrance is LEGIT.
Really happy to see someone covering this game lore, great job man
Appreciate it. I realize the game has had its difficulties since launch, but the world they made is very fascinating. Stay tuned for more
Amazing work on these lore videos. Dervla is definitely one of the coolest bosses in a souls like.
Appreciate it! Her armor, her story, her weapons are all amazing

Awesome job man. Your best lore video so far. Love the longer lore videos. Really hope
You do more of these
Appreciate it and so glad you enjoy. Stay tuned, working on some more in the LotF series
her armor screams berserk even the shoulders, but theres also weird abyswalker vibes
Also Lothric and Lorian vibes, like the intro is almost a one to one replica of the intro cutscene of Lothric and Lorian's boss fight
She looks like combination of Malenia and Artorias.

She's basically a Gael/Artorias hybrid with Malenia’s flowing red mane

It would be interesting to see a video about Adyr and whether or not he was the cruel tyrant in the past he's been painted to be.
So glad you enjoyed and thanks for the suggestion! Have several more videos in the series coming, stay tuned
Shes also the hardest boss I've fought in a game in a little while. Ng+ had me on the verge of tears
Keep this lore series going!
I've got more in the works, glad you enjoy!
Now we can better empathize with Issac and Harkyn
Great stuff mate, keep it coming :) Played through the game 4 times already (one in NG+) and lore video's like this make the experience even better.
After watching this, I think she became my favorite character
Such a rich story, and not to mention awesome armor/weapons
Love the LOTF lore, i think it can be close to Dark Souls if you immerse enough. Keepup the vids please!
And your reference to items is second to none. I love that you picture it, mention it, and give reasoning to your thoughts.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes, the lore and setting are very rich and I've loved exploring it. Stay tuned for more in the series
You are my main source of lore for lord of the fallen
I just love you are my vaati

Well if Vaati Vadia doesn't want to do Lords of the Fallen lore... Someone will bc he's proven that ppl will watch the lore of there favorite games
Absolutely superb!
awsome work. Lords of the fallen is great game with awsome Lore/ world to learn

Can you do lore of Sundered Monarch and Adyr, I'm wondering is Monarch actually king Basim
Great suggestion! Working on The complete LotF story right now, hope to get to these characters in the future
The Sundered Monarch is King Bramis, the Tortured Prisoner's questline reveals a lot about him

Why isnt the audio working for me wth😒
Actually I don't think that's her talking instead it's the boy
She literally what I image a female Guts would be. Hell even her armor looks exactly like the berserker armor. The shoulders are 1 to 1
This was great as she's one character I was very interested in. One correction tho, I'm pretty sure the one talking in the cutscene is the child. The voice is too child-like to be Dervla.
It is the kid
Agreed!
I'm not because voice is feminine and child is boy.
I was always wondering who pietra was on about when said that little boy I always thought the boss was a girl
Oh dear. Another dogged contender.
Good lore
Lots of repurposed Lovecraft text for describing the Mother.
if only the game was as good as her lore
