Michelle, what can we do for age spots that are unrelated to acne. I'm 53 and in the last 10 years or so I've notice hyperpigmentation that is just random light brown spots, just like that on the hands of elderly. This is probably from sunning decades ago as I don't do it now and wear sunscreen all the time. But while acne spots fade, these spots do not. It just looks like I didn't blend makeup or have caramel on my face.

Well, I think besides this, habits matter, eating well, sleeping enough, reducing stress, not smoking. Stress and overworking does age us a lot. not only the skin, but other important systems of our body.
I think you meant to say "shouted her out" or "gave her a shout-out." "Calling her out" has a different meaning, it means making public or otherwise bringing attention to something negative the person/company/etc has done. Like calling out a person for their bad behavior. Or calling a company out for their misleading marketing.
Re: primer under concealer. I have found that eyelid primer is the best way keep foundation from settling in the "11" between my eyes. I think maybe because it is meant to stick to spots that are in constant motion. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion.
I wish when we talked about extrinsic damage as a health concern and not 'aging'. Aging is normal, it's beautiful. But skin cancer, that kills. Skin damage is uncomfortable and can increase risks for other health issues.
I'm 34 too, I've been using tretinoin every other day for a year. It was hard at first but totally worth it in the long run. My skin used to be oily and now it's way less so
If you have reptile pets, they actually need to be misted regularly (or have access to water) to make sure they shed their skins properly and completely. So yeah, dehydration is not good for exfoliation
Love the tip about sunscreen tips around eyes. I’ll try that. I find most sunscreens make my eyes water even if they don’t sting (I think the oils move toward my lash line maybe?). I’ll try something more waxy !
I keep my house dark and stay out of the sun🖤 Also live at 62°N so though I’m very fair-skinned, I have no wrinkles and very few lines at 56. Also: I wear a huge visor, shades, and keep my body covered! Slowly introducing a retinol. I’m using Stratia Nightshift. It’s a very gentle product.
I am 65 and love the microcurrent devices I have the NuFace. I also get great results from my Microneedling roller. I have the GloPro. Iagree that skin care does not help with sagging and bags, BUT it does delay them hapoening. If I were in my 30s I woyld have some Botix just to stop the wrinkles from forming. Too late for me! Thank you for this. Most informative.
I don't plan on ever touching my face because I don't want to risk ruining it and I'm more into the natural, dewy, bouncy look than the ironed out/leathery skin look haha. It's what draws me to the Bear, it makes the skin look healthy and bouncy which is what I ultimately want.
Thanks for your videos. You are intelligent, articulate and beautiful. I’m learning loads from you, and it’s GREAT how you break it all up with facts and not just pseudo science.
When I walk briskly for an hour a day, 6 days a week, & eat 9 servings of nutrient dense fruits/veggies daily, I notice my skin looks lifted and the wrinkles soften. Am I imagining this, or is there a scientific reason for this? Thanks for your great videos, Michelle!
I'm going to try radio frequency. I want to avoid fillers for as long as possible; apparently, this is the thinking now in order to avoid puffy face by the time I'm in my 50s. It's the Jen Aniston vs Courtney Cox idea; Courtney embraced fillers and BOTOX, Jen has gone for radio frequency, ultherapy (No idea what that is!) and micro currents etc. And it's easy to see who looks better. Again this is all "apparently" from a bit of reading and research I've done in deciding what will give me the best bang for my buck. I'm certainly no authority on any of this but RF isn't expensive in comparison to other treatments and has good write ups/research behind it, so I'll give it a go. 🤞
Facial massage is free! I find it very effective. Now that my estrogen is abandoning me, I have resorted to shoving my face back into place. Actually, it feels very nice and helps with tension. It’s a nice way to start the day and genuinely does make a difference. It makes a difference for my daughter, she is 23. When I massage her face the effects last for three or four days. In her case, of course, it is more about reducing puffiness. I have to be a bit more diligent with my own face, as it wants to meet up with my ankles, presumably because the plumpness has moved there. Seems like a reasonable assumption.
Tretinoin made a positive difference in my skin very quickly. I use a very low dose (.02%) and it works well. Its is Curology and contains niacinamide and tranexamic acid.
I love my microcurrent device, it makes my subtle jowls disappear when I use it every day 🥰 it also lifts my eyelids. I have the NuFACE Trinity, but I’ve heard good things about the Foreo Bear as well. The only downside is having to use it several times a week.
Hi Michelle, I’ve put in a lot of time researching copper peptides. Most of what I’ve read says they do not play well with pretty much any other actives, especially strong antioxidants. Most studies have found Most studies I’ve seen conclude they work best when used alone, or in combination with other peptides. What is your opinion? Thank you. I can’t get an answer out of any other skin expert.
@@lollsazz Maybe you need a thicker layer - unfortunately there's no standardisation so it's hard to say if there are issues with what happens microscopically :( Or perhaps try concealer?
@@LabMuffinBeautyScience Oh, I apply plenty! Been using sunscreen since the beginning of my 20s, so have had some time to figure out the amount, but kinda wondering if some of the sunscreens have been of varying quality. Also, I have some Asian genes - just enough to make my skin produce pigment with the slightest amount of sun. Was pretty nice when I liked to tan as a teen, but not so nice when I get pigmentation from every tiny little pimple 😛
I have been lucky to have nice skin. I used just water to wash and a good cream since I was in my 20's. It was enough along with drinking a lot of water and eating whole foods. Now in my 60's I have been trying some new things but I can't really get into the retinols, vit c serums and the hyaluronic acid. All have been a bit of a disappointment. My main thing now is to use occlusives over night to keep my natural moisture in which works great! I have trouble keeping my vitamin D up so I don't use sunscreens on my face daily but instead use a hat to protect my face and neck. This is also working great. I will use a natural sunscreen with zinc if I will be outside for a prolonged period along with the hat. Micro current sounds interesting but also learning to sleep on my back and to keep my tongue on the roof of my mouth (the tongue is a strong muscle that helps hold your face up) and these have helped delay sagging so far. Aging is a mental process of getting used to yourself. I see no reason to go crazy trying to delay it.
Hi Michelle. On an unrelated note, I just learned randomly today that "plumping lip gloss" exists and feel kind shocked. I'm not personally the type to use such a product but I thought it was so interesting. It would be nice if you would consider making a video about it! I understand if it's beyond your scope. It's not "skin care" but I just think it's super interesting!
I love Angie from Hot & Flashy! She’s awesome! I knew most of this info already, but it has been on my mind since I started seeing a little sagging in my cheeks a bit before I turned 41 this year, so thank you for this video! I need to start using the Foreo I bought!
About to turn 30. I'm really stuck between investing in a micro current device, or saving up for some laser or ultrasound therapy, and feeling extremely guilty at the thought of spending that much money on myself when I'm not at all well off. At least I've been good about using sunscreen daily.
It's good to start in your 30's. Weigh the benefits if you're worried about the price. Do you believe this will improve your life? Will you regret not doing it later? If so, then it is probably something that you should save up money for.
Don’t buy something you can’t afford. That won’t help with wrinkles lol. But seriously, save up and you’ll feel a lot better. If you’re having drooping, go with the microcurrent, and laser for wrinkles. Remember-microcurrent is for muscles, and laser is for skin. Ultrasound therapy is a whole different ball game-I’m assuming you’re talking about cavitation, for fat loss? Don’t invest in those because unless it’s a professional machine, it’s not likely to work. They don’t have a great track record for at home devices of working miracles.
Pleeeeeeaaaase make a video on skincare / makeup and its prices. Are high end products really better in formula? What factors make a product more expensive?
I really wanted to try a micro- current device, especially for the eye & round the jaw areas. However, I have been slightly scared after reading reports from people who said that the Nuface had caused them to have migraines. I already get bad headaches & occasional migraines, so it put me off. Also, the youtuber Jen Phelps said she had a racing heart after using a Nuface device. She was advised to stop using it. I found that worrying too. Has anyone using these devices, Nuface, Foreo etc, had any side effects at all? I ended up getting an LED device instead, but haven't ruled it out. Thanks, Emma x
I hated when older people called me a baby, which you definitely are not. You are also really smart and really lovely -- and my favorite youtuber! But as a 50-plusser I wish I felt my skin looked as "old" as a beautiful mid-30's lady! I have definitely noticed that my skin is a lot more sensitive to rougher face cloths and is much more prone to dehydration and dryness. Wanting good moisturizers is a thing now! My acne scars are sure a lot more noticeable as well.
Not supposedly. It does. Microcurrent = muscles, radio frequency = skin. Check out Penn Smith’s channel and look for her news review. She is a master esthetician who educated and reviews devices and products. She always weighs in with her expert opinion .
Must add this important info. There are certain health issues and conditions that do not allow botox since it siginificantly reduces the effectiveness of the medication supplements you might be prescribed. For eg, both my surgeon and my dermatologist were explicit in regards to botox. I had my thyroid gland removed 3 years ago. Cannot undergo botox procedures. Fillers - yes. So, it might help if somebody sees this comment since I never heard anyone online saying this, nor writing about it in the comment section. So, before any suchlike procedures, it would be best that one gets an expert opinion on the issue. Do not know about other health conditions and botox, but got assured by experts in regards to thyroid gland one.
Is it true that over time, microcurrent can decrease the fat in your face? This possibility is preventing me from getting started with it, since facial fullness is a major part of looking young.
Mi NI I hope you don’t mind my comment. I have been a holistic master esthetician for over 35 years and I have used micro current the whole time on myself and clients. I have not lost any fat and I have no real wrinkles and my muscles have remained strong. I’m aging and I’m ok with that ( a gift to get to age) but it does work. Just extra skin love 🍑🙌🏻Lisa
Hi Michelle! Thank you for this video, it's super helpful! My question is, can you use a Microcurrent device if you're on Tretinoin and/or using AHAs/BHAs?
Of course. Microcurrent works in the muscles of your face for the lift, not the skin. For a lift in the skin you would need something like radio frequency which directly works on sagging for the skin. Even then you could still use AHA/BHA’s.
Sparms and Solbari are good and I also bought some Cancer Council rashies from Big W this year, albeit from the men's section. I wear them under t-shirts every day. My favourite are the ones from Sparms as they're lightweight and keep you cool
All great advice. I am 57 and have done much of what you suggest...My skin is in great shape. I am considering the foreo bear...I am still trying to decide which one would be right for me. But temporary improvement is better than the alternatives. Thank you
No :) look into using retinol, scientifically proven, unlike advance repair or any other creams, serums ect. Michelle has lots of videos on this, best of luck!
How often do you go through your sunscreen if you are reapplying religiously every day? I apply 3-4x a day on average and find myself going through at least 2 bottles of 1.07 oz sunscreen per month. Does that sound about right to you? I just want to ensure I am layering enough SPF. Also being 34, I just started seeing signs of aging a few months ago. Cheers to embracing our age while improving our knowledge and health, Michelle!
This is great thank you! Do you have any suggestions about sunscreen on your eyelids? I’m 45 and have had crepey eyelids near the lash line for years. Which is a major reason I have a hard time applying eye liner. Is there a sunscreen that is safe to use in eyelids? I was looking into the Supergoop cream eyeshadow but I was concerned about stinging and am not a fan of a lot of shimmer in my eyeshadow - see crepey eyelid issue.
I think it is only logical that you have to use a microcurrent device consistently since it influences muscles. It is like with sports. As soon as you stop doing sport your muscle volume decreases.
Hey Michelle, do you think gentler retinol eye creams are redundant? From what I know, retinoids work by cell communication. Does that mean that if you apply them under the eyes, you could also see some benefits on the eyelids (HotandFlashy says she does)? Also, do you think using tretinoin only on the face and not on the neck will make them look uneven in the long term? For a lot of people the skin on the neck is too sensitive to use tretinoin on. Is it worth it using an additional, weaker retinoid on the neck?
Right, going to watch the microcurrent video IMMEDIATELY thank you I've recently turned 41. Retinol, botox in between my eyebrows and IPL to reduce my pigmentation have been my favourite investments in my skin. In a skincare adjacent kind of treatment I feel that whitening my teeth also freshened up my whole face a LOT
Wonderful informative video. I am 55 and have beautiful skin (so I'm told) with barely any wrinkles due to dedicated longterm skincare regime, minimal sun exposure, no smoking or alcohol, etc. However, since menopause I have developed horribly horrible jowls and saggy under neck which is ghastly. I am thin all over except for this so it doesn't make sense and really stresses me out. I have never had botox or anything cosmetic at all and don't really want to, but can you recommend anything at all to help reduce or eliminate these horrible jowls and neck sagging please? Thank you so much if you can! From Australia!
For years I had oiily skin that broke out from moisturizers and blackheads. I’m finally am normal and dry hands and feet’. When I was growing up SPF didn’t exist and my friends who didn’t burn easily slathered their entire bodies with baby oil. What reverses sun damage?

I love the way her lipstick is colour-coordinated with the accessories behind her. Everything on screen, her clothing, makeup and backdrop is in the same colour family - greys, corals and peachy pinks. I've noticed this in her other videos as well. Whether or not this is intentional, it's lovely! Calming and pleasing to the eye.
Some tips for 50-something men’s skincare would be great! Until recently “my friend” could pass for early 30s, then a year ago he began to look closer to 40-like his cheeks were sliding down his skull-then all in the last 10 weeks the area under his eyes began deteriorating even MORE quickly, making him look closer to his age … like, several selfies taken over the last six months, put together, look more like a 15-year time-lapse sequence! It’s bizarre. How to undo this!?? Should he just NEVER touch his face? Maybe he’s washing it too roughly.

@@PeachesSkinCare and what device did / do you use for microcurrent?
Well, I think besides this, habits matter, eating well, sleeping enough, reducing stress, not smoking. Stress and overworking does age us a lot. not only the skin, but other important systems of our body.
Love Angie from hot and flashy. Glad you gave her a shout out! :)
What’s this all about ?
I think you meant to say "shouted her out" or "gave her a shout-out." "Calling her out" has a different meaning, it means making public or otherwise bringing attention to something negative the person/company/etc has done. Like calling out a person for their bad behavior. Or calling a company out for their misleading marketing.
I’m 34 too 🤗 just started a retinoid
You are so young stay out of the mirror
The wayne goss technique is great for concealer!
Re: primer under concealer. I have found that eyelid primer is the best way keep foundation from settling in the "11" between my eyes. I think maybe because it is meant to stick to spots that are in constant motion. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Thanks - will try that!
Ooh, good idea!
My skin used to be oily and now it's way less so
I never knew that dehydrated skin didn’t exfoliate as well. Thanks Michelle!
Me neither.
If you have reptile pets, they actually need to be misted regularly (or have access to water) to make sure they shed their skins properly and completely. So yeah, dehydration is not good for exfoliation
Yes 30's anti ageing skin care tips, thanks Michelle 😁❤️
Love the tip about sunscreen tips around eyes. I’ll try that. I find most sunscreens make my eyes water even if they don’t sting (I think the oils move toward my lash line maybe?). I’ll try something more waxy !
I keep my house dark and stay out of the sun🖤
Also live at 62°N so though I’m very fair-skinned, I have no wrinkles and very few lines at 56.
Also: I wear a huge visor, shades, and keep my body covered!
Slowly introducing a retinol. I’m using Stratia Nightshift. It’s a very gentle product.
Lol I was thinking to myself “if it’s just temporary it’s not worth it” right before you mentioned it and you’re right I don’t wear makeup 😂
My number one tip for mature skin; don’t look in the mirror 😱
I think we could all benefit from stepping a bit further away from the mirror!
🤣
Oh don’t worry as you get older aging takes care of that for you too. Your vision starts to fail and everything is soft focus.
@@pjschmid2251 True, lol.
@@pjschmid2251 😂
Hi Lab Muffin! Happy Valentines Day! 💖
You too! 🥰 Hope you have a lovely day
Thanks for your videos. You are intelligent, articulate and beautiful. I’m learning loads from you, and it’s GREAT how you break it all up with facts and not just pseudo science.
Thank you for this video relating to mature skincare, many vloggers skip over this age group. Please continue with more information 🙏🏾🙏🏿🙏🏼 Thanks
Oh I just discovered Hot and Flashy! Great to hear your rec of her :) I’ve found her videos really helpful too
When I walk briskly for an hour a day, 6 days a week, & eat 9 servings of nutrient dense fruits/veggies daily, I notice my skin looks lifted and the wrinkles soften.
😂😂😂😂😂. Yes my mother is a proponent of facial massage. Her face is still in place😂😂😂
Tretinoin made a positive difference in my skin very quickly. I use a very low dose (.02%) and it works well. Its is Curology and contains niacinamide and tranexamic acid.
Sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen!! That’s my model ❤️
Couldn't agree more.
Even with windows up AND sunscreen (daily SPF50) I have melasma on the top of my cheek that is towards the car window I spend the most time near.
Might be to do with visible light from the sun!
Might be - I just wish my foundation would block that out - lots of iron oxide in there :/
@@lollsazz Maybe you need a thicker layer - unfortunately there's no standardisation so it's hard to say if there are issues with what happens microscopically :( Or perhaps try concealer?
Yes. Does work. At least to some degree.
Love Angie from hot and Flashy too!
Michelle, what’re your views on red light therapy for aging as well as dermarolling?
Can we get a skincare video for over-50s?
Hi Michelle. On an unrelated note, I just learned randomly today that "plumping lip gloss" exists and feel kind shocked. I'm not personally the type to use such a product but I thought it was so interesting. It would be nice if you would consider making a video about it! I understand if it's beyond your scope. It's not "skin care" but I just think it's super interesting!
I love Angie from Hot and Flashy. She gives science based anti-aging information too. Less fluffy and more fact based info in my opinion.
I love her too! 😊
Agree! Plus she's hilarious! Give you the feeling that she'd be a lot of fun to hang out with😊
Thank you, I’ve been wondering what at home device was worth purchasing!
I love Angie from Hot & Flashy! She’s awesome! I knew most of this info already, but it has been on my mind since I started seeing a little sagging in my cheeks a bit before I turned 41 this year, so thank you for this video! I need to start using the Foreo I bought!
Can I just point out how beautifully your eyeshadow matches your hair colour :)
Yes - I paused the video a few times to really check out how she did her eyeshadow.
What about things like growth factors, DNA repair enzymes or red light therapy? Thanks!
New subbie here thanking you for developing honest content and reviews. 🤙
About to turn 30. I'm really stuck between investing in a micro current device, or saving up for some laser or ultrasound therapy, and feeling extremely guilty at the thought of spending that much money on myself when I'm not at all well off. At least I've been good about using sunscreen daily.
You are so young stay out of the mirror
Concealer tip for you ! Use baby mineral sunscreen around your eyes / game changer for me at 51 xxx
I’m turning 47 in June, so maybe ill give the micro current a try. Starting to see the beginning of Jowles.
Wondering what your thoughts are on other Foreo profucts: the Luna face washing brush; abd the UFO mask/lught therapy device?
Pleeeeeeaaaase make a video on skincare / makeup and its prices. Are high end products really better in formula? What factors make a product more expensive?
I thought you're not more than 27. You look so beautiful
Thank you for posting this. I wasn’t aware of this possibility
Michelle: not everything can be fixed with skincare
Me: **looks at my shelves of skincare products** I require you to be lying
😂😂😂
thoughts on facial yoga/exercise and facial taping?
I hated when older people called me a baby, which you definitely are not. You are also really smart and really lovely -- and my favorite youtuber! But as a 50-plusser I wish I felt my skin looked as "old" as a beautiful mid-30's lady! I have definitely noticed that my skin is a lot more sensitive to rougher face cloths and is much more prone to dehydration and dryness. Wanting good moisturizers is a thing now! My acne scars are sure a lot more noticeable as well.
I would love to hear your opinion on the Newa device. Instead of targeting muscles, it supposedly targets sagging skin.
Not supposedly. It does. Microcurrent = muscles, radio frequency = skin. Check out Penn Smith’s channel and look for her news review. She is a master esthetician who educated and reviews devices and products. She always weighs in with her expert opinion .
@@lampanatunka8971 I have seen all of Penn’s videos! Big fan. :-)
@@lampanatunka8971 All of her work ended with eye and face lift and she had all the appliances. I was so depressed when I watched that video.
Fab video, thanks ❤
Thank you
Must add this important info. Do not know about other health conditions and botox, but got assured by experts in regards to thyroid gland one.
id love if you did an update on this, im 41 and my skin has suddenly just changed 😕
Thanks for the video. I was wandering what your thoughts are regarding cosmetic needling or micro needling?
Please review the Time Master Pro!?!? It uses ultra sound gel. I feel like I'm sold but in the rabbit hole I've lost perspective. Lol
I went shopping for a Bear - there wee
The sooo many complaints that they died in a short period of time, quit working correctly. 😟
Is it true that over time, microcurrent can decrease the fat in your face? This possibility is preventing me from getting started with it, since facial fullness is a major part of looking young.
Mi NI
I hope you don’t mind my comment.
@@PeachesSkinCare Thanks for your reply! 😊
Hey Lab Muffin! Do you have a video on Nu Face? If not, would you consider talking about it?
Love your videos! Thank you.
Red light therapy please create video about this.
Amazing video as always Michelle, thank you so much❤️, they really make my day.
I'm so glad to hear that! :)
Thanks for this video! I was searching for some stuff for my mom and hope this gonna help.
Your hair looks great on you.🇨🇦
Michelle! Can you recommend a long lasting eyeliner you use for oily skin? Thank you xx
Great information explained so well. Thank you
Hi Michelle!
Thank you SO SO SO much for this vid... Needed it, I'm over 35. Lots of useful info!!! ❣️great tips as always.
Wish more Australian stores sold UPF clothing!
I agree! I think a lot of clothes protect against UV anyway, but it would be nice to see the actual measured level...
Sparms and Solbari are good and I also bought some Cancer Council rashies from Big W this year, albeit from the men's section. I wear them under t-shirts every day. My favourite are the ones from Sparms as they're lightweight and keep you cool
Yay thank you!!! I needed this video!
Interesting, as always!
great informative video!
My acne is finally calming down but now I’m noticing fine lines and when I told my mother she said, “Welcome to aging.” T_T
Tretinoin will help you with this, please go and see a dermatologist see if you are eligible to use it ;)
Could you please do a video on what you know about Superox vitamin C?
All great advice. I am 57 and have done much of what you suggest...My skin is in great shape. I am considering the foreo bear...I am still trying to decide which one would be right for me. But temporary improvement is better than the alternatives. Thank you
Is micro current alright for people with rosacea?
Hi Michelle, may I know your opinion on Estee lauder advance night repair serum? Is it worth the price?
Can you please review the brand Glowlab?? Thank youu xxx
Right, going to watch the microcurrent video IMMEDIATELY thank you
I've recently turned 41. Retinol, botox in between my eyebrows and IPL to reduce my pigmentation have been my favourite investments in my skin.
In a skincare adjacent kind of treatment I feel that whitening my teeth also freshened up my whole face a LOT
Polyhydroxy acids...are they good for people with facial keratosis pularis and rosacea?
Jowls and neck sagging are things you'll need procedures for - I'd recommend looking at some cosmetic clinic reviews and before and after photos
I either use sun sticks or I use baby sunscreens.
For years I had oiily skin that broke out from moisturizers and blackheads. I’m finally am normal and dry hands and feet’. When I was growing up SPF didn’t exist and my friends who didn’t burn easily slathered their entire bodies with baby oil. What reverses sun damage?
Can you pls do a review on ultraceuticals products (I saw you covered the sunscreen)... there aren’t many reviews around- keen to know whether they are worth the price...
Thank you Michelle! Very curious about the microcurrent devices. Would it help with 11 lines in the forehead?
I don't know, sorry! Maybe see if any reviews mention it?
Hi! So i have some darkness at the inner corner of my eye. Im wondering if hydration and niacinamide is the way to go? I also know vitamin C can brighten but im not sure if thats what that area also needs…
Additionally, im noticing fine lines in my mid-late 20s, should i add in a cosmetic retinoid at this time for age prevention?
Omg, what is that lipstick you're wearing? It's beautiful!
