It would have been beneficial if they would have shown how to clean up the calipers. Did they do anything to clean up the cylinders? As bad as the pistons looked when they were removed, I would think something had to be done to clean the cylinders...What method did they use to clean them up. A crucial step that is missing from the video.

Adequate starter video. Good refresher. As mentioned below, no close-up shots of the seals, setting the dust covers into the calipers. Clean-up could have been shown. My rear calipers (1968) have 2 bleeder valves each (and experience has shown they both need to be used.) Was disappointed that part number for associated kits were NOT "shown below". Was REALLY disappointed in Ecklers' website. Searching on Calipers does not return any results ;-(.
Do lots of research...go to NAPA and O'Reilly's. One returns don't take 4 weeks and shipping for returns is 0. Two they are local and will get the right parts without lying about availability. I did my 77. Ended up with O'Reilly's and NAPA. After orders thru Ecklers and waiting, i realized the backorder baloney was so wrong.
One thing that bothers me when he puts on the rubber o-ring it is grooved which way does the groove go.... down into the rotor.... are out to the brake pad.... because he did not show that he just put it on and stuck it in there and I found out by experience it does matter so which is it?
@@doug2993 At 14:00 time, he is hammering it in, and gets the metal ring all crooked. Then, if you pause it at exactly 14:40 ... you can see that it is way crooked. And then, at 14:55 when they are cutting to a break, he immediately grabs a chisel to try and remove it.
Worst salesman ever on phone...straight up lied about part availability. Lol great video, improve your sales/commission pay program. Very disappointed in Ecklers...then you read online. I am not the only one!

Any reason why the inside of the caliper halves had not been painted? it will rust like hell if left like that.

I have stainless steel calipers on 1969 350 vette. Are the caliper rebuild kits ( rubber and o rings) the same as the steel calipers?

Ps most the drum brake parts can be cleaned and greased. Springs and cotter pins and pads is all you need.
Can you use dot 5 five brake fluid with those seals
