Soccer is too boring. Suggested rules changes: Wider goals, no offsides, quarter point for shot on goal, can kick or throw the ball back in when ball out of bounds, penalty minutes like hockey (2, 5 and 10 minute penalties), and free substitution - meaning can re-enter at any time (again, like hockey).
H...I just took delivery of a SE CE 24 satin charcoal this past Wednesday. I managed to find one that for all intents and purposes, is brand new. I'm absolutely loving the comfort and playability of it. Being up in age (60), arthritis limits which neck contour is comfortable for me. I'm working hard at getting some of my youth playing back, and having fun watching RUclipsrs...you, Charlie Long, Robert Baker, Cam Cooper...SO many others out there helping me have fun coping with aging. Just wanted to send you a big TY shout; and keep on keepin' on🤘
As a 50 year old with a busted wrist I feeeeeeellllllll yoooouuuuuuu. My beloved, Japanese Ibanezes have long been a source of pain. I've found that the lower end Wizard II/Iii profile necks and most Jackson /Charvel necks have enough heft to not fatigue my wrist instantly. I'll have to add the PRS to my list to try out.
I own an original 70’s Grabber and G-3. In the bass world, from my observation, they seem to be one of the most sought after and popular Gibson basses ever.
No way! That Epiphone G3 is my dream bass. I love how the G3 sounds and looks and Epiphone has been killing it with their designs. I cant believe how precise it looks to what I had in mind.
THANK YOU!! As a PRS “fanboy” it’s irked me since the silver sky drama or whatever started that everyone ignored that they had made “strats” in the past, which no one had a problem with then. I have a DC3, the SAS (which is basically the NF3 in swamp ash), and 3 EG4’s and 3 SE EG’s they’re such awesome instruments .. but no silver sky 😂 All these new SE’s are soooo good, I wish I had money again 😅🤘🏻I appreciate you covering this 🤓
In my opinion, what PRS is doing with their SE line is one of the best things that could happen to the guitar world. A super top end brand selling cheaper import options but doing it heavily involved in their manufacturing, quality and finish? Bringing us instruments of an astonishing quality for under a thousand bucks? I got one of the first SE they released (Tremonti) and still enjoy it and appreciate it's quality, but when I play their more recent SE's at the shop I just can't believe how far they are going with them.
I'm with ya! I blocked the floating bridge on my SE Custom 24. Hardtail bridges would also make it easier to lower the stratospheric action PRS guitars come with.
idk prs guitars are so well made i dont have an issue with it other than yiu pick a tuning and stay there for me c stsndard fine but i wish theyd do a miles kennedy or tele se with hard tsil and tele pick ups not humbuckers now if sterling would drop a HT sting ray please i think id start cryin
The SE NF3 has a surprisingly tight modern distortion tone when cranked. I never expected that heaviness from a strat-based bolt-on! Especially when its clean tones are so pristine.
There was a Grabber that made the rounds in my hometown. People kept selling it to each other for $100 whenever anyone needed money. Everyone who had it was in a punk or hardcore band at some point. I owned it for about 20 years before it finally went home to Chris Rhoades, current bassist for Jesse Dayton. But it's retired because it took such a beating.
I own a 1990 PRS EG 4 and it honestly wails 🤩 the humbucker is surprisingly hot and the guitar really holds up well when the gain is cranked. Its great to see that body shape(ish) being explored still 😍
Paul is rushing everything into production because he's starting to realize that switching from WMIC to Cor-Tek isn't going to end well; tried to warn people, no idea why but they didn't listen. Cort will never be a good company, they moved to Indonesia because they weren't allowed to produce in Korea anymore. You know you're an S tier jerk when you get kicked out of KOREA for human rights offenses. Cort/Cor-Tek - JUST SAY NO.
The NF3 is stunning, I need one! The Silver Sky is probably the best “Strat” under a grand, until now… I approve of your request for an SE Myles Kennedy model too, and I think it’s about time we get some new Tremonti models as the standard charcoal finish is kinda boring, and the older models (stealth / plain wood etc) rarely come up on the used market in the UK.
I love poplar bodies. There is something about them. They are heavier than alder, but they do not seem to accentuate any frequency (just like alder or white limba). It is harder than basswood and equally cheap. Hey, if it is good enough for Steve Morse, it is surely good for me!
you pretty much got it, doesn’t sound like a strat really at all, if you wanna get nerdy about it. it almost sounds more like a lipstick pickup. but like you said, it sounds good. i prefer it to a lipstick pickup and a lot of strat tones. a lot of the “weird” PRS and G&L pickups are actually pretty great sounding, just gotta try em
Hunter, when it comes to those original Kramer aluminum-necked monsters, you weren't even a bad idea(😄) when those emm-effs came out. I played one of their guitars and I can tell you that there was a reason that Kramer switched to wooden necks. Those aluminum things were HEAVY AF! That plus the equally massive price tags that the necks would necessitate would sink these guitars and bases into non-viability as fast as their necks would drag actual guitar to the bottom of a lake or the sea! If you ever get the chance to check out one of the originals, do it -- and you'll see what I mean!
Alls I can say about the NF3 is you need to try one. Generally not something I'd mess with either. But, I gave the Gunmetal Grey with rosewood fretboard a shot. Had them send it in one of the new cases. Wow. It's not going anywhere. Zero regrets. Tuning stability is excellent, and I've got the the action so low its humorous. How it's not buzzing or fretting out, I'm not sure? Plays like absolute butter.
I'm pretty excited for the Mike Dirnt G3. Always wanted one, and funny enough one of my favorite basses is a limited edition silverburst Epiphone Thunderbird I bought in college, so I'm taking this as a sign that this is meant to be. I just hope its right around the Rex Brown model's price.
I'm just excited to have a G-3 reissue at all, signature model aside. Decibel Sound Implements has made a handful of custom builds based on 'em (I have two) but it'd be nice to have something "official" that doesn't break the bank.
Regarding the Gibson RD's you could have a look at the Hagstrom Fantomen. They have good Specs, they do have the original 25.5 inch scale length and recently released 3 new coulours at a reasonable price. I got the Blue one and its a versatile beast! ✌🏻
I want PRS SE to bring back the Kestrel bass or make an updated version. I love mine. They also need more options for their singlecut guitars such as more options with tremolos, maybe even a piezo version (since Epiphone dropped the ball on the previous Alex Lifeson Les Paul).
There are two guitars in waiting for that WILL happen; Myles’ SE PRS, and Rabea’s Sterling Sabre. Next year, guys. Next year. At least Rabea’s confirmed his is in the works.
i have 2 PRS SE models. swamp ash special and the NF3. great guitars. Im waiting for an SE version of the NF 53. that would be my next PRS purchase. if not i see a Mccarty 594 single cut in my future.
So long as the Epiphone G-3 has pickups actually based on the old Bill Lawrence ones from the 70s, and not whatever horrible sounding ones Gibson put in their last reissue, it should sound awesome.
“Lesser known bass shapes”?? Are you high?? lol That’s literally one of their most legendary basses EVER. The Grabber & Rippers have been played by some of the biggest artists ever for decades.
The SE NF3 is definitely not a Strat or Silver Sky sound-wise, but it looks much better than the Core NF3 and you don't see a lot of triple mini-humbucker guitars outside of the Firebird VII, so it's still kinda cool.
I really hope they will re-release the Ripper as well! The G3 is an awesome bass, but my favorite is the Ripper. However, I doubt that the pickups will be anything close to the originals (which are 99% of the reason to get a G3 or Ripper).
I think PRS is doing great for the most part. Im still salty that my Mark Holcomb SE didn't come with locking tuners when I bought it. Granted I did buy it when it was on sale for 20% off but the fact that its been this difficult for me to find locking tuners in the right color for the guitar is really irritating me. Don't get me wrong,I still love my Holcomb SE,thing sounds good in Drop C,B and even A#,but the lack of availability of locking tuners for it especially in the right color kind of hurts it a but in my opinion. I've just about done every single thing someone has recommended for me to remedy this situation but the problem persists, even 7 months after buying it. Come on PRS,stop making it this hard, dammit
Locking tuners are a non issue. They mean nothing. 11/12 guitars I have don’t have locking tuners. And the one that has them is faster to restring. Thats it
@Ottophil if it's a personal preference then I do believe it's an issue. While it maye be a non-issue to some,I think it's more subjective than anything
Mike Dirnt was one of my bass heroes growing up, particularly his sound on Dookie was my favorite. The amount of money I'd spend to get one of these is unfunny 😂
Epiphone does have a natural and Ebony single pickup grabber, seen it load on a website. But just the pic showed up no price or specs. It was non movable humbucker though.
I’d be interested in seeing a Myles Kennedy SE, but overall, I’m a little sick of PRS. The value just isn’t there anymore. I’m actually selling a few that I don’t ever plan on replacing right now.
You can say the same about Basswood, which comes on very expensive EBMMs, but it's the fact that they're so cheap and soft woods that are used on the cheapest of cheap guitars when they don't want to opt for Alder, Ash or Mahogany.
@@maidenthe80sla same. I’ve seen guitar players beg for something slightly new or different and when someone does it they burn it down and go back to the same old stuff they were complaining about.
as a big fan of all the idiosyncrasies that come single coils, I kinda hate the NF3s, but I don't think that that inherently makes them bad. I like humbuckers for the output and sustain, but I often find that they feel too neat for a lot of my playing, while single coils feel a lot rowdier to use, but they sacrifie a lot of that output and sustain. So while I feel like it does sounds like a single coil, it sounds far neater than a regular single coil, at which point I'd rather just play humbuckers to at least push my amp a bit harder.
That PRS is NOT Strat sounding. There is not any bell like chime. All faux takes on a Strat PU are the same. They sound very bright but nothing else. Zero chime!!! A Firebird has been doing this bright thing for decades but though it is extra bright 99% of most guys still think they are just a mini HB without screws popping thru the plain PU covers.
Now I'll be honest - i tried a truckload of PRS 's out, and I've come to the conclusion that they have no soul. Understand; i don't say this to be mean! One was just very much like the last, how do you get excited about homogenous sameness? I know, I surely can't.
Poplar isn't nearly as soft as basswood and a lot of very expensive guitars ( Petrucci Music Man) use basswood bodies. You can literally push fingernails into raw basswood lumber and leave a dent. If basswood doesn't get a bad rep when used on guitars I have no idea why poplar would. I love working with poplar even though it's for cabinets and not guitars.
No PRS has sounded strat to me… my sky is getting new pups cuz they just don’t chime. JM explains how they are ‘mellow’ like a vintage Strat… you can hear the diff when he changes guitars live- lifeless in comparison, but a PRS neck is gold for me, best of both worlds.
The ones shown here literally sound very strat like. Way more than any other pickup that advertises it in a non strat style guitar. Thats a huge step to real variety and I also have heard many other PRS pickups that all sound very different but balanced. I had a 30th anniversary that was a bit bass heavy but that wasnt the pickups but the wood
The NF3 doesn't sound like a proper single coil. You can definitely tell it's not. Also, the neck pocket in the NF3 guitars is routed way too large. That quality issue is what made me pass on getting one for now. Hopefully that gets resolved soon.
Meant to upload earlier but got too caught up in seeing whether Slovakia and Georgia could pull it off lol. They couldn't 😢 Anyways, GUITARS!!
Pretty close for Slovakia though
Would have loved to have seen those teams in the quarter finals
As an English man I apologise on behalf of my national team for what can only be described as an “utter dog shit” performance… performances even
