Coming out of the charismatic movement, doctrine was never at the forefront. Coming out of that movement was a great mercy, it is when I learned to cherish what He spoke, over how I speak. I do believe that God can still gift people with a tongue to proclaim His name & make known what He has done among other nations. I have heard testimonies of people hearing the gospel in their native tongue from someone who never studied the language. Those testimonies are so beautiful.

@@DinahReviews But sister, not all charismatic or Pentecostals churches are bad, just like not all Baptist churches are good. I grew up Pentecostal, but the first time I spoke in tongues was when I was going to a Baptist church in college. I was praying and worshipping one night and it happened. Tongues are beautiful and they come from a place of worship. That’s why you hear so many Gospel artist and Christian artist that pray in tongues during their worship sets, Donnie Mcclurkin, Cece Winans, Brandon Lake, so on. You don’t speak to people in tongues, I think a lot of people get confused by what occurred on the day of Pentecost. The believers in Acts were praising and magnifying God out loud in tongues and the Holy Spirit took over their tongues and started speaking in known foreign languages as a sign to the Jews who were visiting Jerusalem for the Jewish holiday. That’s why Paul says that there are various kinds of tongues in 1 Cor 12. The most common and most frequently used is the prayer language of 1 Cor 14:2 which is beautiful and Jesus is all in it. But whatever gets you closer to Jesus, roll with you what you know. God bless!!

I went to a charismatic church first day pastor called me up , keep in mind this is my first time at this particular church, I’ve been a Christian for almost 2 years, when the pastor called up everyone before me they were “falling over” dropping to their knees and all theses other things screaming hallelujah, so when it was my time, I did nothing of like that….i guess the pastor didn’t take kindly to that so he told me start screaming hallelujah 7 times, I’m like why? So I told him no he’s there waiting waiting, then he says so you won’t worship the Lord, I’m like well I don’t worship by screaming hallelujah 7 times…..so he proceeded to get the rest of the church to start screaming it, then say I’m resisting while also saying I’m possessed by the spirit of pride ….then he started to “bind” the spirit of pride in me then when he saw that I wouldn’t budge he sent me to go sit down,I found that entire situation interesting….then when I was leaving he shook my hand I say I must learn how to “worship” the Lord so I guess the only way to do that is to scream hallelujah 7 times , I would like to hear what brother Corey thinks about that situation, because even if I want to, I just don’t want to do it because I pastor told me to that’s weird, if you call me up to pray for me just pray for me and sent me back to my seat the theatrics isn’t needed…..PS the pastor isn’t really biblical either I thought he was which is why I went to the church but today exposed him for me.

Corey Minor, I’m so glad you taught on this. Over 30 years ago when I was saved from atheism, a charismatic oneness pentacostal man came to work with pages of pages of pentacostal doctrine to disprove my salvation by faith in Christ alone. More recently I began to spend time with an associate from high school over 30 years ago whose husband is a charismatic pastor in a deliverance church. Over time they questioned my salvation, became vindictive when they realized I wasn’t joining their church and trashed me to others. It hurt but I’m so grateful for distance from them and their false deliverance doctrine and I’m thankful for this video with sound teaching.❤

During orientation to join the mega Charismatic church we had to "practice"' speaking in tongues. I found this strange and not genuine to have to learn to speak in tongues. The book, "What the Bible Teaches" was published in 1896 before the current Pentecostal denominations came into being. RA Torrey and DL Moody taught the Baptism With the Holy Spirit being secondary, additional, and subsequent to salvation, and believed in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
They are good teachers, they are wonderful teachers, and I am so glad to have them here, but why will they not see that the baptism with the Holy Ghost is just the one touch that they themselves need?” - DL Moody

Hey Brother Corey, I just wanted to say I'm a Pentecostal-Holiness Christian myself, and I just wanted to say I really appreciate your take on this. I totally agree with you-i know sometimes it may not SEEM like it, but there are definitely some of us who label ourselves as "Pentecostal" or "Charismatic" who DO value sound doctrine over fake tongues and outward emotionalism. It’s frustrating how it seems like the majority who label themselves as Pentecostal or Charismatic get caught up in these things, but I want you to know that not all of us are like that. And I'm sorry so many of us Pentecostals/Charismatics give you all a hard time, and even go as far as calling people unsaved because they idolize "speaking in tongues/glossolalila"
Some of us do recognize and accept our cessationist brothers and sisters as true brothers and sisters in Christ. We might not all agree on the semantics of tongues or the emotional side of things that give us a bad name among the majority of other cessationist Christians or Christians who may not label themselves as "cessationists" but still don't agree with the overall Pentecostal/Charismatic movement (such as yourself) , but at the end of the day, we’re united in the sound doctrine of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Biblical Christian living. Thanks for addressing this, and keep doing what you’re doing!
And honestly I'm a member of a church denomination that is supposed to be "Pentecostal" that I feel like is going to eventually abandon and get rid of a lot of the notions of Pentecostalism in the future

When the Bible says that not all would speak in tongues it is immediately followed with not all will interpret.
This is speaking of the gift of speaking in tongues that is accompanied by a believer with the gift of interpretation.
Speaking in " tobgues" scripturally has four operations:
      1) The only sign given in scripture that a believer has recieved the Holy Spirit when they recieved( Acts ch.2,10,and ch 19)
      2) The born again believers private prayer language for self edification(1Cor.14:4)
      3) The gift of speaking in tongues that is to be accompanied by a believer with the gift of interpretation so that all in a church gathering may be edified. This is the purpose of all of the spiritual gifts.

All of the gifts, according to Paul, have the express purpose of building up the church assembly, body of Christ, as a whole( 1Cor.12:1,7).
The initial sign that one has recieved the Spirit is the same for everyone. If not, then a believer has no scripturally backed proof that they have ever recieved the Holy Spirit.

Unless you can prove to me (and yourself) that your experience was biblical and in tune with scripture, your experience merits as much credibility as a child's tall tale. Not trying to be a jerk, but you have to root yourself in the word, and not in your experiences that are easily influenced. The difference of the Holy Spirit (in a measure) being IN a Believer with inward evidence of a change life (born again John 3:1-21; Romans 10:8-11; 1st Corinthians 12:3) vs the POWER (being full) of the Holy Spirit rested UPON a born again Believer with spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit for service within the body of Christ (Acts 1:4-8; Acts 7:55; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; 1 Corinthians 12:27:31; etc.) (Speaking in the gift of tongues within the service of God in the church to bring a word from God by the ability of the Holy Spirit that must be interpreted to edify the body of Christ) and also an outward evidence of the presence of God resting on believers lives (Acts 1:8; Acts 10:1-48; Acts 19:1-7; 1st Corinthians 14:22; etc.) (the outward speaking of tongues given to the Believer by the Holy Spirit to identify and verify with evidence that God is with the believer). The gift of tongues is given by the Holy Spirit to all believers who acts and want to receive the spiritual gift to strengthen the Believer inwardly to build them up spiritually ( Luke 11:13; Jude 1:20-23; etc.).

One large local charismatic church has a woman who "takes over the service" regularly when she "gets a word" from God. Then, for the rest of the service, all these people line up to give their "interpretation." I heard this from someone who visited that church several times. What happens is the Word of God is never preached! It is a display of man worshipping himself.

I grew up as a Pentecostal. I don't speak in tongues, and for a while I felt guilty of it. I may have shared this testimony before, but it is worth repeating because it is pertinent. I always wondered why other people around me spoke in tongues, when the spirit descended I never felt like speaking in tongues, nothing. I can say that I have felt what many Pentecostals and Charismatics would call the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit", and even then I still never spoke in tongues. The one time that I am referring to happened many years ago at a youth event, and I still remember it vividly even now. I was quite spent, and honestly I was very worn down. I had a lot going on, both within the church as well as in my own personal life, and I remember feeling very strongly that I did not want to go to the youth event, because I was just not up to the task. I prayed just before the event that I needed God to show up, because otherwise I probably wouldn't last the entire event. It wasn't until the very end of the event, during the alter call, that I felt the presence of God so powerfully that I honestly can't really put it into words what I felt. It felt like he was right there, almost. At any rate, far from convulsing uncontrollably, or doing anything that I had been taught came with the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit", all I did was cry, because in that one moment I simply could not believe that all it took was one simple prayer, and God literally responded personally to just that one call. God knew that that was all that I needed, and it honestly broke me. In that moment, the parable of the 99 sheep and the one became real to me. It was one of those moments where you realize that you can know something, but experiencing it is entirely different. I hold that moment dearly because I don't feel the need to chase gifts (whether we want to say if they are real or not) that I do not have. And it also stands as a testimony to people that speaking in tongues is NOT evidence of the Holy Spirit. I KNOW God met me that night, and I reiterate that I did not do any of the things that happen when other people "experience the Spirit". No convulsions, nothing uncontrollable, no screaming. I cried because the love and the presence I felt at that moment was something I can't properly describe.

@StickFiguresCO My situation was very similar to yours. Except, I did not grow up holiness/charismatic church. I was dating a girl who was Apostolic. Was baptized in accordance to Acts 2:38 after going to her church for about six months and did not come out the pool speaking in tongues as some do. I stayed in the word, tarried to be filled. Finally, at a youth conference, (I was 22 at the time and youth was up to 23 at that church) the choir had just finished singing a beautiful shekinah Glory song and many of us were quietly worshiping. Suddenly I felt the Most Beautiful all around feeling that is beyond description. It was everything in one. Peace, Joy, the feeling of a weight off my shoulders, Sheer Happiness. I immediately had goosebumps all over my body as my arms went out, palms up and looking up to the Lord, I started balling crying uncontrollably. Tears of repentance and happiness all in one. This would be one of the only 2 times I spoke in tongues. I used to think it was sheer silliness even though I knew the scriptures saying “the spirit of God gives thee utterance” and you’re “speaking mysteries unto God”. Videos of people practicing it in the mirror had me hesitant. SMH. But for me it just came out uncontrollably as I’m balling crying. Something about youth conferences moves the spirit! Afterwards, I reflected that, right when it hit me, everybody else that was in the front area (at least as far as I know) just shouted in praise and tears at the same moment. I pray everyone feels it at some point their life. As you know, it’s the most amazing feeling there could be!

They do not interpret the Bible as it should be interpreted when it comes to tongues, their focus being Acts 2:4 - 13, ignoring the specific languages were spoken in those who were gathered and in their dialect, but to speak for what of a better word gibberish

We should be going by THE WORD OF GOD with correct interpretation PERIOD! Anything outside of the word is not of God and is a man made up doctrine. Tongues is a gift of signs and wonders given after Jesus went back up into heaven after his resurrection and the comforter ( Holy Spirit) came because at that time the Jews and the Gentiles did not have the Bible like we have today so God sent signs. Paul and the apostles were also healing at that time as well. Today we have the Bible and the Holy Spirit, we walk by faith and not by sight so speaking in tongues is irrelevant. Corey is 100% correct.

Your comprehension skills are horrible Chris.
Is there ANY time where Someone who spoke in a tongue, didn't know what they were saying and were COMMENDED for it?
1 Cor 14:14-15 is NOT Paul commending anyone. Instead he offers a solution. You do not offer solutions unless there is a problem. If there is a problem, then there is no commendation. This really isn't that difficult. Abednego gave a verse but then "literally" agreed with me.
You prove my point by commenting as much as anyone can over this topic because you are defined by it. You feel attacked and demeaned if someone disagrees with your view on tongues. You are truly triggered at how I view tongues.

    • @FishermanBubb
      @FishermanBubb 23 дня назад +2

@@smartchristiansSee, Corey, you’re triggered. Did I say that “you’re ignorant” or “you have no comprehension skills”? It’s always the noncharismatics that get personal.
But to answer your question, go back to Acts 2. The believers in Acts did not know the language that they were speaking. It wasn’t them, it was the Holy Spirit. Paul says when you speak in tongues your mind is unfruitful because your mind is not the one producing the words, it’s the Holy Spirir. Peter, John did not know Parthian, Arabic, etc. so they didn’t even know that they were speaking those languages. Just like it still happens today-The guy from Remnant Radio….who you have had conversation with LIVE…said that he spoke Croatian…he didn’t know he spoke in that language until a sister in the church TOLD him. He was thinking that he was just praying in tongues. And you can easily hit this guy up and talk to him about that. That’s what happened in Acts.
Go to 1 Corinthians 14:2, Paul says your speaking “mysteries”. When you had the guy Cory Marsh on- he confirmed that the word mysteries or mysterion is not a BAD word. It simply means hidden until revelation. And that’s why Paul says pray for interpretation in verse 13. And God can give you interpretation in his own timing. I started praying in tongues in 2016, I received the interpretation in 2021.
You did 3 hour video on tongues just to say that tongues are “learned languages” which is complete opposite of 1 Corinthians 14:2, opposite of 1 Corinthians 12. How is it a gift of the SPIRIT if it’s “learned”? but my comprehension skills are questionable? You have had conversations on tongues with people who knew how to navigate through the Scriptures as much as you do…are there comprehension skills horrible too? Dr Brown…the dude Sam…Radar, Ruslan…we all have bad comprehension skills right?

So you have guys like myself, Ruslan, Dr Brown, Marcus Rogers, JP uncut, Radar Apologetics, Remnant Radio…maybe even Mike Winger…guys who love Jesus who love the Lord, we believe in angelic tongues, we believe that Paul was NOT negating tongues in 1 Corinthians 14:2, 4. Hi, brother Corey. I grew up in a pentecostal church most of my young life. There came a time in my youth when I watched on an average Sunday night in church and I wanted to copy what I watched and what I copied was not real in God's eyes. I was being fake so I can fit in. But, one Sunday night I didn't want to be fake anymore so I felt I had to be sincere with God and I expressed to Him that I wanted to have a true experience with Him that night and He showed me that He was real and all I could do is cry and speak in tounges not to show others my experience on that night but it was only me and Him that night. I love my fellow Pentecostal brothers and sisters but God has lead me to worship Him in a non charismatic church. I'll never forget the moments I had with God in the pentecostal church and I will always hold that in my heart. His power and love that He showed for me on that night as a young boy will forever be in my memory and in my heart. I was a prodigal son for many years and lived a rebellious life until God stepped in and showed me some tough love as a Father and then I realized that God had a plan for my life so I redirected my life to Jesus and because of God's mercy and grace I'm here today choosing to follow Him. He has restored everything that I lost in my life. I owe Him my life. Today I follow Christ by His example. I was once blind, but now I can see. To God be all the Glory. May God continue to help you to keep teaching and preaching the truth. Please pray for me for I am experiencing persecution in my town (Police and the Courts) for standing up for God's truth. Why would you want to trigger Charismatics? Is provocation now a fruit of the Spirit?
While I am not a cessationist, I disagree with a lot of Charismatic doctrines because they are not biblical. However, I see no need to trigger them or provoke them into anger. Many of them are genuine brothers and sisters in Christ, and provocation is not how the Spirit of God calls us to deal with error within or even outside the body of Christ. This is the flesh and ultimately a sin.
2 Timothy 2:25 states: Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
Be careful not to sin yourself while being self-righteous and operating in the flesh.

Love you Corey and appreciate your ministry! I am a charismatic who has the gift of tongues. I agree that there are flaws in many of the interpetations of verses used to justify the gift. I believe there are also flaws in the cessationist interperation as well. The debate between Ruslan and Allan Parr is a good example of this. I would agree that A LOT of the tongues in some of these churches are probably fake. But I believe that just because some are false, doesnt mean they all are. Paul makes it clear that not all will have the gift. I've experienced interpetation as well as speaking. But I wont elevate experience over scripture even though I believe my experiences align with scripture. Thankfully this is a secondary issue and we should be able to reason together in the scriptures and properly discuss our views, in context.

I saw this firsthand some years ago when I began attending an Assembly of God church. I went to a men's retreat with them. It lasted over a weekend and the entire thing turned out to be centered around getting everyone in attendance to speak in tongues, or jabber incoherently. I wouldn't do it because I'm not going to fake my faith. They were visibly frustrated with me. It was one of the most awkward and uncomfortable experiences of my life.

I am blessed to attend a pentecostal church.
However, I absolutely loathe the lunatic, freak show that has become the sterotype of charismatic christianity.
Those of us who wish to represent a more intelligent version of pentecostalism need to be loud in disassociating ourselves from such stupidity.
Tongues are an in-house debate secondary issue.
Both sides need to cool off and focus on the essentials of the historic christian faith.

1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV): “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."
Ephesians 4:3 (NIV): “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
Philippians 2:2 (NIV): “Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind."
Romans 16:17 (NIV): “I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them."
Titus 3:10-11 (NIV): “Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned."
    Division is of the devil.

In all honesty Corey, it’s okay if you disagree on that. As a Pentecostal, I thank God that the Holy Spirit has given me and other Pentecostals that I know, discernment of the spirit.
I have been a witness to many times the Holy Spirit using someone to speak in known tongues. I speak Spanish and English, and I remember God using a 65yo lady when I was living in Puerto Rico to speak in English without here even knowing how speak that language. The pastor’s son, came up to her and started interpreting what she was saying bc he knew English.
Tongues is not for salvation and it shouldn’t be a salvation issue. And I agree that people(charismatics) shouldn’t be emphasizing so much on experiences. As a Pentecostal it frustrates me to see that basically many “charismatics” are idolizing experiences over just having joy and peace with God, knowing that the biggest experience is to know you have been forgiven and saved by Jesus.

So overall, I disagree with some of what you speak of on this topic.

Hey buddy...don't let the crowd get to you.
I AM a Pentecostal for over 40 years and I have witnessed all the crazy stuff, as well as the genuine. I know it's real but Biblical teaching lacks in this area, as people are overtaken by sensationalism and hero worship (just like in Corinth). My view on 1 Cor 12-14 differs from you, but I would never tell someone they don't have the Spirit. We are unable to get saved without the Spirit drawing us. I watch and enjoy your channel because you always highlight the "low-hanging" fruit. There are still some that can articulate a Pentecostal theology without throwing fire on you and blowing in your ear.
But I mainly wanted to say...don't let anybody get under your skin because then it can get in our heart. There are many Pentecostal/Charismatics that love the Lord and don't sling their coats like someone I won't mention.
Be blessed and encouraged. Would love to chat sometime.

Once I went to a "Charismatic" church as a guest of a good friend of mine and I asked their "Pastor" how to speak in tongues and he literally told me to groan and speak while groaning which I did, feeling silly the entire time, and he told me I had it (Um, no) and then later my friend said I had it and I explained to him that I only did what his Pastor said and then felt silly for it. he told me something I have never forgotten, he said "Yep, fake it till you make it" and I refuse to fake it as they do, and have decided for myself that the whole speaking in tongues thing was to spread the gospel among many nations. now days we have little translators (electronic) that will do real time translations in many languages, so this need is not here anymore. and I'm sure that no modern day people have seen tongues of fire settling down over others who supposedly speak in tongues in this world. Banging symbols

Hi Corey. I have Charismatic friends. One of them admitted they copied and learned to speak in tongues by being around and mimicking other church members. They all sound very similar and very rarely is there interpretation for all to understand. I've attended Charismatic churches for years. They do make it that your not truly saved if you don't speak in tongues. I know that I'm saved and Jesus walks with me daily. I have too many testimonies that are awesome and even unexplainable miracles. It's hurtful when they condemn others who don't speak in tongues. I thank God for you! I'm non-denominational. I totally agree with you as making sure the Bible says it. The Bible is the berometer we must go by. God bless!!✝️🙏😊👍

I used to speak in "tongues" watching these pentecostal charismatic movement channels, but then i started to feel off about it, i was baptized in a pentecostal church nd i am a member, i havent been there in mnts bc i see how much they focus on speaking in tongues(amongst other things)nd how out of order it is with no interpreter (which none of these churches have) im over the whole "teaching tongues" nd "have u been baptized with th Spirit nd recieved ur prayer language" OVER IT, nd yes ABSOLUTELY it has become an idol to the extreme....
Thanks b to God im not in that confusion anymore bc i now know it was just me hearing them nd thinking ok let me just open my mouth nd go by faith like they say nd my own feelings led me to speak in those "tongues"
For ppl to say u dnt have the Holy Spirit is INSANE, we as born again believers are anointed nd sealed with the Holy Spirit, there is no "separate" anointing nor another form of the Holy Spirit...u finished strong at the end with EVERYTHING u said, had it not been for the Holy Spirit, through ur trials nd tribulations u would not b here today so salute to u man of God nd thanks b to God for ur channel nd for the true gift of dicernment the HOLY SPIRIT HAS GIVEN U!!! 💯💯🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I came from a very charismatic Pentecostal Apostolic church and they always emphasize speaking in tongues, but I never understood why people spoke in tongues. It was more of you have to speak in tongues so you can prove to others that you have the Holy Spirit but I understand now that that is not really true. It’s not about the tongues. It’s about your walk with the Lord. People can speak in tongues in the church, but they don’t know how to speak nice things to people. Tammy speaking in tongues loudly is really a distraction and I can’t really hear from God when I hear a lot of chatter. That’s why I’d rather just spend my time by myself to be in the presence of God. I don’t know people speaking in tongues because that’s what they believe and I don’t wanna be in offense because there are times that I also speak in tongues, but I don’t speak in tongues very loudly because I don’t wanna be a distraction in the church, but there’s others that speak talk so loud or it does become a distraction 🙏🏾

  • @Jquarles1973

Well...the same arguments can be said about both sides. People who aren't charismatic speak as if those who aren't cessationist /reformed aren't believers as well. I personally wasn't raised in the church but do speak in tongues according to scripture. But put very little emphasis on it.
I don't believe the Bible teaches all will speak in tongues yet we get categorized with the extremes. This is why it is annoying at times. But what we fail to realize is Satan has always been a mocker of God. He has always perverted God's offices and gifts to ruin the credibility of the authentic thing.
This is why I have never liked John MacArthur because he's a cessationist that puts us all in the same box (at least that's how it appears). And I don't even consider myself to be pentecostal or charismatic but I understand why we all get categorized the same.
I have a video called "divided christians" on my TikTok speaking on why we are so divided on these issues when all we need is order and learning to co-exist with Gods gifts of equipping the church while allowing the love to sustain it.
That's all Paul was trying to convey in 1 Corithians 12-14 and the reason he wrote about love between 12 and 14. He understood the gifts and callings of God equips the church but it's the love that has sustains the church or else we will be divided.
You see, I can co-exist with someone who doesn't speak in tongues. I have a son and daughter who don't. But can you co-exist with people like me who understand real tongues from the fake ones and the order it needs to happen in the church? I think these are the real issues that create the divide we have on this issue.

It’s really sad that they put man made rules over the Holy Spirit . I understand we are supposed to represent the Lord and dress appropriately but they took it to another level . I started out as a "charismatic" in a Church in Florida. Guess what, I am still at that church. God used us when we weren't in his perfect will, matured us, sent in different leadership over the years, we started off with what we understood, but willing to grow. And loved the best way we knew to Love, but knew there was more, and God used it all for His glory, and matured us as a congregation. Be careful with the highlighting denominational differences, scrolling through youtube for anyone that is curious about Christianity is full of exposure landmines, that are far more detrimental to our cause then produce any good fruit, just understanding we are supposed to be moving forward together ❤️!, not divided..

My Pastor grew up Pentecostal, became a pro football player, got his English degree in the offseason , became a teacher after his football career.
During one of our lunch meetings to discuss theology he told me when he was in church someone stood up and claimed "God told me to tell you..." My pastor said " I don't think God would mis-conjugate a verb'
He is now solidly reformed and is very disappointed that he grew up with such poor theology. He told me that when he is invited to speak at Pentecostal events they are not interested in any theology, just his "experiences" and his football career.

I got away from the charismatic/pentecostal teachings a couple of years ago now. I became a Christian back in 1994 in a small UPC, no hair cutting-no makeup-no pants (for women) pentecostal church. And they taught me that tongues was THEE evidence of the Holy Spirit, if you did not speak in tongues, you didn't have the Spirit. Many years after that, I had my eyes opened from the scriptures that that was false teaching. But what I was told that I rarely hear mentioned is that "demons imitate tongues" , so if this is the case, which tongues is real if they sound the same? My aunt, who brought me to this church, told me of a story about her 2 friends that were gay men in her Marine days, she said one night, as they were sitting around a camp fire,, they told her they wanted the Holy Spirit and as they all prayed together, one of the men began "speaking in tongues" but she said it sounded scary and he began foaming at the mouth and then he started panicking and stopped. So she claims it was a demon spirit because he simply did not want to give up being gay. That has always been in the back of my mind all those years, if someone wants God's Spirit, why would He allow a demon spirit to "enter" them or take control of their mouths? Just thoughts.

    Mark 16
16 He that shall believe and be baptized, shall be saved: but he that will not believe, shall be damned.
17 And these 👉 tokens shall follow them that believe, In my Name they shall cast out devils, and shall speak with [h]new tongues,
18 And shall take away serpents, and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay their hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 [i]So after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received into heaven, and sat at the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere. And the Lord wrought with them, and confirmed [j]the word with signs that followed. Amen.
