And these chord changes are pretty sophisticated too, there's real musicianship exhibited here.
Like I've said before, this is one of the greatest 1970's songs that is actually not from the 1970's. Great vocals, great musicianship, just a great song.
With such a sensual blend of voices, Silk Sonic is the gold standard. Beth, I can tell how their performance moved you. So good!
I prefer tongue-in-cheek (amusing, comic, flippant, humorous) instead of cheesy (corny, campy, sleazy, cheap) to describe the lyrics of "Leave the Door Open." Bruno and Andy said while working in the studio they had fun trying to top each other when coming up with lyrics for their songs. Check out their album "An Evening With Silk Sonic." It doesn't disappoint.
This would be great virtually no matter what, but the fact they leaned into this vibe _so hard_ makes it fantastic!
I love that they added "shamon" like from the old Michael Jackson songs.
This song is so much fun. Skate is fantastic, too--a perfect summer song.
You'd have to be at least my age (65+) to spot it, but ... this is CLASSIC 1970s Philadelphia soul! Silk Sonic sound completely like the Stylistics, or the Spinners, or the O'Jays, or Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. They needed to be produced by Gamble & Huff, or Thom Bell.
They had another great performance on the 2022 Billboard Awards of Con Funk Shun's 1982 r & b hit 'Love's Train'. Their version is a wonderful homage to the original.

These guys are AMAZING! Still, the most effortlessness in high voice singing, in my mind, the honor goes to Mitch Grassi Of Pentatonix! He’s a superb, authentic countertenor! He has superb vocal control perfect articulation and superb intonation!
Silk is smooth, but, I don't think it's as smooth as these guys!!
Just got back from Vegas. I stayed at the Park MGM. There were big crowds at the hotel which is attached to the 5,000 seat Dolby Theater where Silk Sonic is in residence. They get the top acts. Lady GaGa was in residence, Aerosmith is next.
You should check out the IHeart Radio performance. It's FANTASTIC. Completely blows this performance out of the water.

I think that’s a great note at the end. There might be a few other people who could sing as well as these guys but would they do perform with the same amount of joy or in the same way. Makes me think of the inside llewyn davis moment where he sings his song and the manager says “great but how do I sell it.”

When you were mentioning Bruno's effortless high voice it made me think of think of another major singer with an effortless high voice that I couldn't find on your channel, Brandon Flowers of The Killers. Two good live examples are "Runaways" and "Give Me A Shot At The Night". On both of these he seems to be at volume level 9 and then kicks it up to 12 with out any strain at all.
