A flashlight is actually a really highly recommended self-defense item. It's illegal owhere/, no matter how insane your nation/state/city/whatever is about weapon bans, it's capable of a quick distraction that nearly no one is immune to, the resultant opening can easily be enough to get the upper hand in a getaway or counterattack, and it's always a fallback bludgeon, especially if it's hefty and well-made of sturdy materials.

The sharp features of the electricity piercing through the blue color that had dominated the screen for minutes, that was a cool effect. It was eye catching. I think it lead into the action sequence really nicely. The meaning was beautiful. Very beautiful. This would be a great film for young girls, really all young people, to watch. What I get from this film is that we need to remember that we outnumber them. We need to stay together, expose the monsters, keep them in the spotlight. Strip away the fear they wielded as a weapon and all they have left is their own pathetic excuses. The truth will do the rest. Thank you for making this.
I love how a simple movie that is symbolic for sexual assault and rape is still subjected to '' but feminism is wrong''!! holy shit people , rape and sexual assault is bad and it does happen you are not a feminist for accepting or liking this movie neither are you an antifeminist for it,
Wow crying, didn't expect that to hit home so powerfully... I think it was the whole community coming out to shine a light on him that hit me with waves of appreciation for the importance of people caring for each other.
This was an amazing animation, I definetly was glad she dound that pole and stayed alive. She’s lucky to have met up with all those people who could see him/them. The two girls were very sweet to have sticken to her side. New subbie btw! That is how GREAT this was.
I think this is an animation represents women's everyday life - how we have to always be careful and watchful and never feel safe even in public places. And the monsters are a metaphor of harassers and rapists. But also it's about female solidarity and reminder about how we have to help eachother if someone's in trouble. Together we are stronger💜
This was done well. I like how at the end there were men there with flashlights as well. At least I think there were some guys there. Anyway, the message is clear. Don't walk alone at night! Guy or girl! Now a days it's not ot safe. Again, great work!
This video shows that NOT ALL monsters look like scary demons that come out of your bed it shows that monsters can look like any other person, even me and you.
Dude, this was fucking incredible. I had no idea where it was going and I started to question if this was even going to be resolved successfully but then you knocked it out of the damn ballpark. Like, I am astonished right now.
This was amazing! I'm only sad this doesn't have more views ( I guess title doesn't help with so many similar ones). Also, if it wasn't completely obvious, the light was a metaphor :p Saying that sexual predators are usually the kind of people that hide dark, behind lies and deciet. If we all stand together and shine a "light" on them though, they will have no where to hide. :) I should also mention how the people ignored her in the club because of how when one person claims "sexual predator" people will tend to not believe or listen, making the light more significant. There's some more things that I can think can be interpreted beyond on what is first seen. Like how sexual predators could get around general public light(public safety measures and guidlines) and that it takes more active members of society to stave off these people. Overall really great animation with a good message, also better voice acting than what I usually hear in lower budget animations. *thumbs up* :)
Moral of the story, do all those things and teach your kids not to rape. Precautions on both sides is best. Unloading a gun and wearing a bullet proof vest are great ways to not get shot. One of these only you can do, the otehr is up to the gun holder, to be extra safe it’s safer to wear the vest, but if you don’t wear the vest you shouldn’t be punished because someone didn’t unload their gun and decided to pull the trigger.
We should also teach women not to throw their babies in dumpsters. Please don't throw your child into a garbage can you can put them up for adoption instead okay!?
@@lelduck6388 you could make that argument for anything. Things are going to happen you can’t tell that to every robber murderer of people who falsely accuse raoe
These comments make me want to scoop my eyes out with a melon baller. "Oh, it's actually about she's having vivid hallucinations and ouhhh the poor man was falsely accused of" we get it you love jumping through hoops to delegitimize women's experiences! The men become monsters because it's a metaphor for the fear and powerlessness of the situation. Jesus Christ do any of you have any critical thinking skills whatsoever. If the message was about "ohhh the poor man he got accused of attempted rape after ACTING EXPLICITLY THREATENING AND CREEPY AND CLEARLY BEING WRITTEN FOR THAT PURPOSE" then the message at the end would have expressed that, not the message of solidarity and protection between women against an all too common threat. And if that message makes you angry, maybe it's time you stopped getting pissy about it in the youtube comment section and started thinking about just why that might be.
Just want to say, the same number of men report sexual assault every year as women, so this all too common threat DOES extend to men. The message here is what you say it is, but i got to this video from a Facebook post that talked all about how men need to be held accountable, and that 'male accusations need to stop, rape is not a political men's rights talking point. Accusing women of rape is wrong'. So i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the comments along the lines of 'Men can be raped too' or 'typical of feminists to blame a man', are probably people who came here from the same Facebook posting that was shared. A Facebook posting from a group that is trying to get a 39 yr old female teacher accused of raping her 15 yr old male student freed and all charges dropped because male rape doesnt happen. As a male victim, i find that sort of thing repulsive. Almost as repulsive as rape victim support groups denying men access to the same services.
What he's saying is women get raped more and harassed more than men since we're seen as weaklings 90% of the time. Its fucking sad that people say men are more raped than women, when ts fucking not and people need to learn this shit. I'm a girl, and when I'm on the street I feel like all the guys want to rape me, and its not good. So he's got a good ass point
I'm a guy who was raped by his teacher. My abuser wasnt even charged with a crime, and raped 5 more teenage boys after me, and recently retired. 500k women report ebing raped with an estimated 50% reporting. 480k men report with an estimated 10% reporting. Men dont get raped MORE, they get raped at the same rate, but women are more likely to be believed, and taken seriously. Try looking it up. Men who report rape are often ridiculed by police, or told they dont have a case. 13 year old boys who are forced to have sex with 30 year old teachers end up paying child support. I am not saying women have it 'easier' or that their experiences are any less horrible. But when you just write off the experiences of 1 in 5 men who are sexually abused and raped as children because 'it happens to women more' even though the rate is the SAME, you further the problems we male victims of abuse already face. No one believes when a man says his girlfriend or wife forced him to have. when men are stabbed/shot by their abusive spouse, people find reasons to say he deserved it.
The police wouldnt even open an investigation on her. One of the other victims (who was abused a year after i was) blew his own brains out last week. I found out the day before yesterday. Now that someone is dead and left a very public, very open suicide note recounting his abuse and the lack of support as his reasons, the police are only now going to actually 'look into the accusations'
I love the meaning behind it, it's a message saying that sexual assault is not okay. The flashlight is people spreading awareness about it and stopping people from doing bad things to people. The way her friend and everyone around her was telling her that she was crazy, that's how it shouldn't be, everyone should ask her what's wrong when she's asking for help, her friend should of walked with her on the way home, and stayed with her. All those girls with a flashlight shows that this man is a monster, always wanting to do bad things to a girl, I'm not saying there aren't any woman like that, but I'm saying we need to spread awareness not just about sexual abuse, but for the people around us. If someone around you looks scared or in need of help, don't just ignore them, ask them what's wrong, try to help, if people would stick up for others things like this wouldn't happen, like the flashlight scene, the evil wouldn't get their way, and the good people wouldn't get harmed.
Everyones fighting in the coments about how "Women don't need to protect themselves, men need to behave." Pretty sure that's not the point of this video. Both genders can be raped, by both genders. A man can be raped by man or woman and a woman can be raped by a man or woman. Also, looking at this video it's highly likely that she's been raped before, Therefore explaining why anyone who flirts with her seems like a predator. Sure, the last guy may have tried something, but that doesn't mean the artist is saying all men are rapists. She could have just been out in the club trying to have a good time with her friend, or getting over her trauma and started to worry, I don't know. Also, if you're one of those people who say "her dress was too short, what did she expect?", no one deserves rape on how they dress. if they're not wearing clothing and they don't give consent, thats still fucking rape.
While i can't really relate or comment on the subject matter as i have no experience in it i like the animation style, simple backgrounds and voice acting. Good job
Great thesis film and prop's on the rewards, but Ima give some criticisms. Please take these with a grain of salt from someone with little editing talent & only a little finesse in writing(aka I am not professional in anyway and take that into mind while reading this criticism) 1st. Zooming out on a closeup of animation isn't good, unless you make those frames at a fidelity where a zooming close looks nice. I know that it takes alot more to do that and this is a thesis film but I couldn't help but mention it. 2nd. The phone conversation seems disjointed, Im not sure if that was intentional to make the viewer feel as uneasy as the main character.... But thought to bring it up 3rd. The effect at 3:05 sounds as though the VA moved away from there mic when they yell'd and did it in a non-soundproof room. Again thesis film but with how good the rest of the VA work is in this it makes it quite noticeable 4th. The last monster breaking the light seems like a writing cop-out for what I assume is time purposes? I would think letting her confidence turn to panic and fear while the light flickers out, while having all the monsters slowly merge with the original to something big would have been better. But thats my idea and of coarse it has nothing to do with the original criticism Again cannot emphasize how good this is just for a thesis film, love the designs for the monsters(well sept the last one, pincers I mean) and how open it seems to be with the message. Cause personally from watching for my 3rd time now, I can perceive it as like 5 meanings and I love that. Its clear enough for a path yet open enough for many different lessons(my personal fav in my head is knowledge is power). Well done all of you

Thank you for making this.
totally but bih it's las vegas hella predators here
Curfew?
It’s annoying how everyone at the bar ignored her when she was pleading for help.
I love how a simple movie that is symbolic for sexual assault and rape is still subjected to '' but feminism is wrong''!! holy shit people , rape and sexual assault is bad and it does happen you are not a feminist for accepting or liking this movie neither are you an antifeminist for it,
1 person said that lmao
This animation was terrifying and stressful... but amazing. It’s something that needs to be *brought to light* more often. I’m glad I saw this.
Amazing message behind this, but i have to say what a TERRIBLE friend she has, you gotta stick by your squad if they're freaking out.
Gaslighting at work.
WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO!
I think it is about rape. But this art is amazing. Very well draw.
sha bay lol same
Jessica, do you have a hangouts?
sha bay and/or abuse.
exxplicttjaekitt Yeah you're right.
I think it's more of sexual harassment. But rape could happen.
_Anyone a samurai fan of _*_CoryxKenshin?_*
Hello my friend. I too have traveled from our masters channel.
Cory has brought us to this, our head samurai.
I came here from Cory's video
Finally a CORYXKENSHIN comment
yesss
I feel that this is about rape
It is. The "monsters" are a metaphor for the attempted rapist.
OH REALLY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teensy Create2 wtf he has some arms and his wrists and coming forward how do you see a penis D:

This is a great video! It honestly created that creepy environment many women face in my city, well done!
Wow crying, didn't expect that to hit home so powerfully... I think it was the whole community coming out to shine a light on him that hit me with waves of appreciation for the importance of people caring for each other.
it's about rape isn't it?
Yep
Artistic Crimson ok

3:41 I swear the second girl on the right looks like kirigiri...
Omg yesss, I love kyoko.
“What can’t a guy say hi to a pretty girl?” CoryXKenshin: so, you’ve chosen death.
This reminds me of when my cousin was raped on the streets of St.Louis...
He was so traumatized
He couldn't have been he's a man, don't you know men can never be the victim of rape.
Seriously? Men can be victims JUST like women. I'm not defending a man's actions but they can be raped and sexually harassed too.
i think his statement was sarcasm
when it comes to rape... I don't really appreciate sarcasm...
I do.
3:41 Why are there so many flashlights?! IM BLIND!!
“What, can’t I say hi to a pretty girl???” Me: “>:c” CoryxKenshin: ~Takes off shirt and starts whapping the wall with it~

this is so powerful. thank you for making this
This was an amazing animation, I definetly was glad she dound that pole and stayed alive. She’s lucky to have met up with all those people who could see him/them. The two girls were very sweet to have sticken to her side. New subbie btw! That is how GREAT this was.
Good job Montana! It was wonderful, hope you do more stuff in the future!
Montana it was really good!
I think this is an animation represents women's everyday life - how we have to always be careful and watchful and never feel safe even in public places. And the monsters are a metaphor of harassers and rapists. But also it's about female solidarity and reminder about how we have to help eachother if someone's in trouble. Together we are stronger💜
men and children as well mate
This was so powerful, I could really feel her fear. It had an amazing message as well. Great job!
Awesome! You deserve way more attention, my friend! Cool metaphor as well, 'shedding light' on a potentially scary person/scenario! :D
“what? can’t a guy say hi to a pretty girl?”
coryxkenshin: **ANGERY**
I love how this feels like a plot for a horror game but also has a message to it
Loved the message of this film :,) beautiful
This was done well. I like how at the end there were men there with flashlights as well. At least I think there were some guys there. Anyway, the message is clear. Don't walk alone at night! Guy or girl! Now a days it's not ot safe. Again, great work!
I appreciate that women _and_ men were shining flashlights on him. It's important to know that not all men are bad
Keep your nightlights kiddies!
"can't a guy say hi to a pretty girl?" that part got me, shit
and now: some people defending that statement right under this comment.
This is so well done, and sadly so relatable. I’m glad this shines light on such a downplayed topic. Your amazing!
wow, that was actually tense to watch! Great job!
Sees rapist
Spotts flashlight on him
Problem solved
This video shows that NOT ALL monsters look like scary demons that come out of your bed
it shows that monsters can look like any other person, even me and you.
Dude, this was fucking incredible. I had no idea where it was going and I started to question if this was even going to be resolved successfully but then you knocked it out of the damn ballpark. Like, I am astonished right now.
Congrats, it wasn't for me
Ahh... I see the message you are trying to send to people... love the animation
This is the type of work you do at SVA this is cool this one of my top colleges I want to go to this has me exited!!!
this FUCKING ART smooth lines time on background pitch perfect
Awesome Animation! Those creature designs are the best part.
When it's dark there be light, so LET THERE BE LIGHT!!
Daaaang, way to get a point across. Nicely done.
New devilman looks good. But in all seriousness this is very well animated message and I'm glad you took time to make.
i'm glad this animation won awards! it was a great idea, nicely executed. a little rough to watch without any warnings, though.
I literally freaked when he started to run, it's so much adrenaline here. It's honestly amazing!
Yeah I was scared the monster was not going to catch her! Poor little guy almost went without.
Purple guy meets Slenderman?
thats what I thought XD
Oh my god I thought that too! XD
can you not?
XD
XD
I feel like this should be a series because this is amazing.
The moral of the story: don’t take random drinks, don’t be alone at night, and charge your motHER FLIPPIN PHOOOOOOONEEEEE >:v
Moral of the story: Teach your kids to not fucking rape people
Moral of the story, do all those things and teach your kids not to rape.
@@nadiagonzalez9297 or murder people.
@@lelduck6388 you could make that argument for anything. Things are going to happen you can’t tell that to every robber murderer of people who falsely accuse raoe
This has always been a personal favorite because of how well it embodies just existing.... as someone who was born afab. It just fits so well.
When you hear foot steps but it's just your team mate in fortnite 1:36
Same. I get so scared when that happens...
Now that someone is dead and left a very public, very open suicide note recounting his abuse and the lack of support as his reasons, the police are only now going to actually 'look into the accusations'
tinytoychihuahua i
Everybody gangsta til the man behind the slaughter offers you a drink
looks like she accidentally touched a page of the death note
when the girl was sitting by the lantern I started to cry a lot
This is now my new favorite animation on youtube
I believe that ending scene with flashlights means that rapists/maniacs are not a threat anymore, if society stands up for a victim, not blames them.
I'm crying, this was so good ;A;;
After all of these years, I finally understand the meaning of this video
3:36 *”mom said its my turn on the xbox.”*

Danmm...
R.i.p
I don’t get it please tell me
You'll get it when you're older young one
:( please
Also, if you're one of those people who say "her dress was too short, what did she expect?", no one deserves rape on how they dress. if they're not wearing clothing and they don't give consent, thats still fucking rape.
it's a little of both women do need to protect themselves but men also need to control themselves
EnderEevee 42 everyone needs to control themselves.
Ollie Lollie Congratulations you have common sense! That's truly a great gift to have in this decade because many people don't have it 😂.
Gheme aaaayyyy
Maria Sirianni AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
While i can't really relate or comment on the subject matter as i have no experience in it i like the animation style, simple backgrounds and voice acting. Good job
Woah. Seriously powerful.
Damn that was a creative way to show a serious message I loved it!
Why the fuck am I watching this at midnight? (Amazing vid btw ♥)
Great thesis film and prop's on the rewards, but Ima give some criticisms. Please take these with a grain of salt from someone with little editing talent & only a little finesse in writing(aka I am not professional in anyway and take that into mind while reading this criticism)
1st.
But thought to bring it up
3rd. The effect at 3:05 sounds as though the VA moved away from there mic when they yell'd and did it in a non-soundproof room. Again thesis film but with how good the rest of the VA work is in this it makes it quite noticeable
4th. The last monster breaking the light seems like a writing cop-out for what I assume is time purposes? I would think letting her confidence turn to panic and fear while the light flickers out, while having all the monsters slowly merge with the original to something big would have been better. But thats my idea and of coarse it has nothing to do with the original criticism
Again cannot emphasize how good this is just for a thesis film, love the designs for the monsters(well sept the last one, pincers I mean) and how open it seems to be with the message. Cause personally from watching for my 3rd time now, I can perceive it as like 5 meanings and I love that. Its clear enough for a path yet open enough for many different lessons(my personal fav in my head is knowledge is power). Well done all of you
