    At least they responded quickly with a much better option. I frankly, with Minimal Audio I don't feel the same way I felt when Waves did that. Waves response felt more like "ok we will change it back only because you won't let us get away with it"

    • @apoplexiamusic
      @apoplexiamusic 11 месяцев назад +2

      i bought Serum, Phase Plant (and all the other Khs effects it's useless without), the intermediate version of Vital and i actually paid $400 for UVI Falcon, which does a lot more than Current and has very good built-in effects you don't have to purchase as extras to use. Basically I'm just saying i don't need another wavetable plugin, especially when i can put MorphEQ and Rift as effects after any of these other synths.

    Having said that, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. Minimal audio has great products in their library. They don't have that Waves "vibe" and conduct. I think it was just one of those mistakes every developer does when something experimental comes up. Gotta give points to them coming out with clarity, on cam.

      The biggest problem here is not how they chose to sell it, well subscription only with no option to own a product you're investing hundreds of dollars in is very problematic, but the worst thing is that they ommitted to inform everyone who was making launch day content for it about the pricing structure

    You hit the nail on the head. It’s not that subscriptions are outright bad. It’s kinda nice for some people to be able to pay a few bucks to use something you only need temporarily. The problem is when you’re not allowed to own things.

  • @CodyGratner
    @CodyGratner 11 месяцев назад +4

    Vital is free and excellent! So, I’m totally cool with the $5/month donation to Matt Tytel.
    The entire KiloHearts ecosystem is amazing!! They do RTO, but I randomly worked a bunch of OT when the full bundle was on sale, so I bought the whole bundle.
    Pigments initial marketing was ENTIRELY “lEaRn hOw sYnThS wOrK” so I absolutely ignored it and missed the initial pricing. It’s a really cool synth, but I’m not sure I need another big does-all-the-things synth after PhasePlant and Vital.
    Current looked like “what if Serum, but Vital” when I first saw it. And, the first video I watched also said it was subscription only. Fuck that. I’m glad they changed it. And changed like pretty much immediately. Instead of the nonsense Bitwig did.

    For us as a company selling a monthly service will make the income for us more predictable. Which means we are able to push out more content eventho nobody has paid for it yet.

    I noticed that especially US-based websites/companies lack any transparency in the costs of their products. Often you are only allowed ton know the price when you push the button 'buy'. I think there should be legislation for that. Since when are you supposed to buy things not knowing the price? Many others require you to scroll complete pages, go to other pages to finally find what their product costs. When governments don't end this jungle mentality, i think there should be a transparency code companies can subscribe to, and finally until then influencers should ignore and cancel companies that are not transparant. A market without clear prices is not a free market, or even not a market at all.

    If there are other options, why are people complaining? Was there something that minimal audio had that no other application had that hundreds of producers were relying upon?
    "It's the principle behind it!"
    Or is it we just like to complain vs working with the toys we already have?

      For myself: I complain because I am against subscription only on principle. I don’t need this synth. But if subscription only gets more traction we will be f**ed because then many will move to this model.
      That’s why complaining is important.

    Well, to me it seems the minimal audio guy aint that bad of a person. Look at his apology. He's pissed and you can see that, which is great because he obviously talks quite genuine. Now check for yourself if that apology is indeed one. If, then in the best case it should contain a) an expression of regret towards an action he now understand was not appropriate, b) an implicit commitment to not repeat this action and c) a gesture of respect to the wronged.
    I give him the benefit of the doubt that he and his team were so overenthusiastic of their idea and the product thatvthey momentarily forgot to consider the customers perspective.

    Might actually check it out now. Was fully ready to boycott minimal audio yesterday. The biggest question i have is, do the people who already own all their effects plugins have to pay again to use them inside the synth? Will they get a discount? Or is it just 50 dollars for every effect inside the synth, no matter if you own it already or not?

    • @BigMTBrain
      @BigMTBrain 11 месяцев назад

      The effects are actually the independent versions, but Current loads them and has them appear integrated. - EDIT: If you go for the $200 perpetual license, you will purchase all of the effects at whatever normal or sale price you can get them. Naturally, for those you already own, you won't need to purchase them a second time. - If you go for either monthly or yearly rent-to-own, at the end of each year's worth of rent-to-own payments, you can use the total of those payments to buy more elements (effects, presets/samples/waveform collections) you DON'T ALREADY own.

    • @ElectricAlien577
      @ElectricAlien577 11 месяцев назад

      @@BigMTBrain I know all that already. What im asking is, if you just want to buy all the stuff outright, and you already own all their stand alone plugins, do you have to pay the 50 dollars for each plugin to use them WITHIN the synth? Or do you just get them unlocked by default if your account already owns all the stand alone plugins?

    • @BigMTBrain
      @BigMTBrain 11 месяцев назад

      @@ElectricAlien577 Haha... you beat me. As I went away for a few moments, I realized I didn't address the $200 perpetual option: No, you won't repurchase what you already own. As far as I gathered (I could be wrong), the $200 synth will not have any of their standalone effects - just the synth engine. You will buy ADDITIONAL effects at whatever normal or sale price you can, whenever you can, wherever you can. ...
      IF the effects are NOT included in the synth's $200 perpetual license, another good question would be: Are effects settings part of any of the default presets? If so, does that make those presets reliant on effects not installed unusable, or will they simply load and play without the effects? My assumption is the latter.

    • @ElectricAlien577
      @ElectricAlien577 11 месяцев назад

      @BigMTBrain
      In the description of their apology video it's saying you can get each effect for 50 dollars to use within the synth, and obviously the standalone versions are priced differently, so still not sure what the situation with that is with that, if I need to pay the 50 dollars for each module if I've already bought the standalone.

    • @BigMTBrain
      @BigMTBrain 11 месяцев назад

      @@ElectricAlien577 Ahh. I have to admit, being quite busy with other things, I skipped through their apology when I watched it on their channel earlier. So, my reasonable GUESS will be that a license for a standalone version is also a license that turns on the integrated version. BTW, Rift is the only of their plugins that is greater than $49.
