I attended this lecture last month in London. Penrose is unusual among contemporary physicists in that he is a wonderful speaker to both advanced and general audiences in that he never dumbs down but also knows when to necessarily qualify statements which are deemed only relevant for expert evaluation, not for general understanding. This makes him not just a great thinker, but - perhaps more importantly - also a great speaker, communicator, teacher and therefore inspirer as well. An all-round admirable man!
He also does not come across as arrogant and constantly points out others as instrumental to his thinking and development. Far too many of these people talking about how smart they are.
i am addicted to this man and his thought processes on some of the great ideas and questions we have on life itself
Lee are you by very slim chance related to a very famous footballer from the 70s and 80s??
Euan 'Lanky bomba' McCombie oh yeah the goalie !!
Thank God this interview is available on RUclips, so one can go back and forth re-hearing parts of it again and again. Fascinating, inspiring, Sir Roger Penrose.
@1 New Notification Sorry but I have no time to deal with your cognitive dissonance.
@@evinnra2779 I agree. Listening to this guy speak is amazing.
My all time favorite scientist Sir Roger Pensose : > )
Penrose is great. He is the RAMBO of physics.
One of the true giant of physics
Long live the radically rational Sir Roger Penrose!!
it starts at 11:07
Thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you for the upload. Thank you all.
Thank you. this has been the best interview with roger i've seen in a while. i like the structure the mediator gave. bit long intro tho lol
Thanks for the upload.
tnx a lot 4 this *amazing* video 👍👍👍💖
Fast forward to 10:04
one of the best interviewers.
Love Penrose intro some what lenthly .
awesome,,
Maybe there exist three domains that share nine dimensions of space, with one time dimension. Each domain might be composed of a different one of the families of quarks and leptons in such a way that only with high powered particle colliders like the LHC can the domains detect each other.
Interviewer intro too long. He thinks highly of his own ideas!
Many such interviewers
how can we know about his upcoming lectures?
+walter bishop Hi Walter. Probably best to keep an eye on Roger's website or Princeton University Press website for upcoming events. He's not doing many due to not being as young as he feels though.
Can someone spell out what Penrose calls generalization of complex numbers? Thanks
quaternions
@@epajarjestys9981 Wow, one answer in three years.
Sir Roger⚠️okey⚠️💞🎀

FANTASICLE ^ yeahh truth can be stranger than fiction.
But fantasy is imagine.
I gave up because the host's intro is too long, and very American - self absorbed.
suli san stfu
You do know that youtube has a seekbar and you can skip forward right?
i get what you´re saying click here to skip 11:07
Well, IF your American you can very clearly tell this Howard gentleman is of Canadian origin, Americans don't say 'out' like 'oat' or 'about' like 'aboat'. So your attempt at a knock toward him and 'Americans' fell on its face....I agree though such a lengthy and egg headed introduction
Penrose needs no moderator, especially a long-winded one
