PSA Never trash your old parts. Don't even give them to electronic waste/recycling! Sell them on ebay as "in need of repair" for a low price. That way the right people can find them, fix them and resell them so we can all keep our TV's in operating condition!
Not at all. That's why you label them "for repair" so the people that go looking for these parts are usually shops (shop jimmy has bought a few from me) and I've seen already they fixed a few and resold them.
So when your testing with the multimeter, it should read zero when you touch the leads? When you see any numbers it means that there’s continuity, which equals to a bad buffer?
Hi just a quick question I have replaced igbt or if u call them mosfet 30f124 found to be defective in an LG 42inch Y sus board and I hv soldered all loose connections correctly TV plays very nice for about 30min burn those in y sus board any suggestions plz
Hi, thanks for your very practical and explanatory video. I have a quick question, maybe you could help me. I have a 50'' Samsung plasma that is not working. The screen is black. When i opened it i saw (and smell) how couple of the IC where burning, and they have a small hole now. I'm pretty sure that they are not working, without even making your test.. My question is.. is it possible to me to solve the problem just replacing the Y buffer boards by new ones, or they could get burned again because the main issue comes from the other supplier board? Thanks so much.
So I took the y buffer out of the tv, and I ran one of the metal instruments along the part that you described, and my multimeter didn't change until it displayed a number in the thousands three times for three of the small metal copper insert area bits. What does that mean?
I have a Samsung pn59d550c1fxza and the y buffer board ribbon connector has glue on top and bottom. How do I remove this so can test. Y buffer board is identical to this video except for the glue.
Thanks for the video, but how can i measure buffer board if those wires are soldered on the pcb ? there are no conectors that goes into display, how can i desolder the ribbon?
I believe I do have a problem with Y buffer from my Plasma TV. I do have a few questions, it all started with pixels like stuck or delayed lets say from one image to another specially red .. eventually I do have that issue with pixels all around screen but also after a few time ON the image is gone but I know is still ON cause I can hear the sound. I ran one of these programs for repairing the pixels stuck using a Raspberry Pi attached via HDMI .. some improvement but Not what I was expecting ..So I believe second issue is pretty much related to Y-Buffer ..what about pixels delayed/stuck might be related ?? I am relating the word buffer with delay I just mentioned .. any advise would be valuable before actually attempting to open the TV :)
Hi I have a samsung pn51d430a3d have sound and no picture. I tested the y buffer for continuity and it seems good and i changed the y main. What else can i try. Thanks
When I plug my tv in, the logic board on blinks for a few seconds then goes out. Standby light on front does double blinks 6 time sequentially. Also ran your test about and every area has value reads? Any ideas? Thank You
Can you help me out I have a Samsung plasma TV the TV can come on but it does not show a picture or the screen does not light up but I can change the channel turn the volume up and down turn the TV on and off the green light in the back flash slowly I tested power board I am getting power I replace the main board to the buffer board
The video is good but it s not true when you said that you could choose any pin on the white connectors. You must choose a connectors which all of is pins are together.I say that because the pins we need is the one where the 400v peak to peak timing signal is input in each buffer. But the other pins are other lower timing signal. If you choose these other pins you will fail your troubleshooting. And it s important to check each side of the big connectors too(both side). Thanks
Hello! When you put the multimeter lead onto one of the pins of the white coloured connector, why did you only put the lead on that particular pin of the white coloured connector? Does the test need to be carried out by putting the multimeter lead onto a DIFFERENT pin of the white coloured connector too?
What is wrong with X Buffer? On my 42" Samsung plazma when x buffer is connected to logic board, vs and VA voltages going down, I belive for some reason Vson on logic board is getting lost after turn on tv. If all boards connected exept x-buffer to logic, then both voltages ok. What could be bad? I found one igbt is dead, replaced, but it did not help.
@@Home_made_ch the most common failure I see on the older samsung plasma is a failed ic chip on the ysus buffer board which othen takes out the ysus board too. Ive never had xsus fail on a samsung yet.
But what if it wasn't shorted but it it was opened circuit how can you tell if this type of test give you a 100% guarantee that the tested board is working.....
Thank you. Great video. Short and straight to the point.

That's a good way to get bad feedback for selling junk on eBay.

Completely agree! Any PCs can be fixed and used for good. Sell them to someone who needs them or will find a person that does. Cheers!

Very good !!! Great example.
Very informative, thanks
Thanks for the info, is really nice of you to share

when the multimeter rings is it ok or is there a problem?

Is ~V correct? Ohm settings give strange values, not 0.

You made a good video but is the bad ic physically damaged at all? I couldn't tell from the distance. ..

I have an LG TV model 50pg 700 not lighting but their is sounds has in video player sounds what can I do
If the buffer board is bad and I replace it would I then have to replace the YBoard also?
Most of the time you dont have to change it but sometime yes.
Thanks for the tips!
No problem!
does it matter which pin you select to ground too?
Hi, no, it does not matter which pin you select, since it is only continuity that's being checked.
Runforlife thanks for the tip looks like i just need a sustain then great video 👍
Thanks! Don't forget to like and subscribe!
Why did you just put the multi-meter prob at a particular pin why not others too ?

Best to test like that
What are the symptoms of a bad y buffer board?
The "no picture" is a common sympton of a bad buffer board on plasma.
A horizontal line too.If black you could clean the connector(blow air) and the cable with an erase. If colored it s the buffer ic.
7 blinks on the led of this model is a bad buffer board.

What was the actual customer complaint that led you to perform this test on Y buffer board
Most likely a no picture sympton
