Steve, agree with all the other positive comments below. Great channel/information! Also, the star of the show IMHO is Dewey! He's just so at home in the place and wants to get involved with everything. Not fazed at all by the noise from the high HP machines. Incredible. Have you ever taken him for a race spin in the Wagon?
I come from a turbo import background, and the "shitty" old pushrod technology is actually pretty impressive. The simplicity is appealing for these types of motors, but the downright awesome sound of these engines at 9000rpm is undeniable. Never thought I'd come around to liking these V8's more than import motos, but hey, here I am.
@@turbostyler I think most people don't understand that yes, overhead cams are simply superior in valve control and 4 valves per cylinder do flow more air, but putting cams on top of those heads would make the engine way taller, wider and heavier then they are anyways. That is the reason the 7L LS is much smaller and lighter than a 5.0 Coyote.
Same here, back in the day I had a 1967 GTO with the big block 400, SPC8 ram air cam WT block, 670 heads and a 390 posi, ALL numbers match. BIT, if you pushed even close to 9500, those numbers would no longer match lol

Got to admit Steve with everything you know about the cost and time you put into these engines it has to be unnerving doing these pulls. Looking forward to the drawing of your engine and stand giveaway. Awesome video and content !
Finally someone gets the extra benefit of the exhaust dump pipes pointing in the right direction to add a little thrust to help push the car down the track to gain that little extra power. I don't know what the actual gain is, because every engine is different comparatively speaking, but pushing that amount of air through the cylinders, and even with the percentage lost pushing the impellers to build the boost to begin with. It has to be some assistance in pushing the car that much faster down, just because the velocity has to be substantial due to the volume of air being condensed, and forced out the down pipe.
I'm no car expert, what is happening at 16:18 when there is air coming out of the air filter, it's an air filter right? is it back pressure or something? It looks like it's getting cold.

My Bulldog shakes like a leaf when she`s near open headers, Dewey`s calm. Do turbos heat the air less than roots type blowers? Their point of diminishing return seems to take longer to hit than positive displacement blowers
Turbos don’t heat the air as much, but also have to get spooled up before they really start moving air. Good thing about a roots blower is it’s pushing the air from idle.
Steve Morris engines, is the dyno com hub dyno an inertia dyno or does it fully load the engine? And do you see a benefit in one type of hub dyno over the other?
I zoomed in that timing map. Kinda blows me away how simple it is. It's that ever changed tuning at the track or street? Or is that strictly the race tune-up and it's changed during the drive?
