This week I woke up inspired to give our dining room a warm and cozy mini makeover and I'm so excited to share it with y'all today! I think it really ties into the adjoining kitchen beautifully...and is a much more visually pleasing transition from the living room.

You always amaze me! The room, of course, looks beautiful. But you’re so brave to paint without tape or dropcloth. Of course you do it so neatly that you don’t need them. But I would have paint all over the place. The book pages in the mantle is a brilliant touch.❤
I’m not sure if I’m brave or lazy! 😂 I do splatter paint from time to time and get it all over my hands, but nothing that isn’t easily cleaned up (usually). The book pages are probably my favorite part! They gave the surround so much more character and make it even more of a focal point. Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a kind comment! ❤️
It is beautiful. I don't know how you can paint so neatly without dropcloths and painters tape everywhere! I really like your style and relaxing videos.
Thank you so much!!! Occasionally I splatter a bit on the floor…but I’m able to easily clean it up. I don’t typically use painters tape…because I’m inpatient! 😂 Thankfully I have a pretty steady hand and get a crisper line that way, as opposed to taping everything off. I love that color of blue! It looks beautiful the way you've painted it💙 If I could have Fall all year, that would make me happy😊 Of course, that would be the Fall i so deeply loved when i lived in the mountains, in Tennessee. Im guessing it'll be winter for others when we her in Florida have what feels like Fall. But there's nowhere here that I'll have that gorgeous scenery, the mountains of orange, red, & yellow with splashes of brown & green. Its what i call Gods masterpiece! I won't have my morning coffee sitting on my front porch swing looking at all that beauty, hurts my heart girl!💔 But when God leads us into another season, we don't question it, we just go! I love the look of the old pages in the fireplace! You could even use a little mod podge on them to make it look more like a painting. Just A thought, thats probably not the look your going for. Oohhh my goodness i love that old wooden chair by the fireplace!! I love all my old wood chairs sitting all around my home. I love the swan candelabra, its beautiful❤ Carin you have truly made a gorgeous little transformation here.. its just so cozy, warm & inviting! I think you made the perfect decision😊 Thanks for sharing the process.. and the reveal was awesome!

I don't even know what I would do if I couldn't paint! However, I think they actually make peel and stick wallpaper that is in solid colors. I saw it on an older Darling Desi video where she was making over her bedroom in an English cottagecore style. Maybe you could try something like that! Also, Pretty in the Pines used to live in an apartment in NYC and she had incredible renter-friendly ideas! Thank you so so much for always taking the time to watch and support my channel!

Great job. I'm going to do a mini makeover of my own later. Unfortunately, I can't paint, but I can live vicariously through you! I love the esthetic. Also, if I didn't have a toddler always wanting my attention and to be held, I probably would carry coffee like that. Lol

My husband scored that mantle for free last year! It’s been such a fun piece to incorporate…and the color makes it pop so much more! I’m a fall girl through and through….I have a late November birthday so that may be why. ❤️ I’m so excited to be finally incorporating fall into my decor. It just makes me happy! Carin the paint color it's stunning and it suits the artwork. I'm so glad you added those book pages to the fireplace, I had asked you long ago that something needed to be there but put more tape on the pages so they'll be flat against the wall. I used to paint like you, is so relaxing to me too.
I remember!! And you were absolutely right! I'll let you in on a little secret...I ran out of tape before I could finish taping the pages flat. 🤣 I guess it gives them a bit of dimension though!! Thank you so much for supporting my channel every week!

Love the paint color. How could you paint with no tape or drop cloth? Even no paint on your fingers. Wow!. The room is beautiful. Love all you did.
I definitely get paint on my fingers! 😂 Lots of hand washing! As for no drop cloth, it may just be laziness. 🤣 I’ve had a lot of practice at painting that way though, and I try to be as careful as I possibly can. I do occasionally splatter a bit of paint, but it’s always easily cleaned up. Thank you so much for watching!!!

Love it. It’s so surprising that the color looks so blue on camera. I guess when I looked it up it looked more grey. It’s still beautiful
In our home at least, with the Edgecomb Gray on the top of the walls and, it definitely leans blue!! Although I can see where on the chip it looks more gray. I would characterize it as a blue/gray for sure. Thank you so much for watching!

Ohh I love that! Mine belonged to my grandparents! I would imagine they bought there’s around the same time. I was born in 1981 and they had it my whole life. I love that I get to have it in my own home now. Thank you so much for watching!
Ohhh how beautiful it turned out. I’m not good with color at all. I’m usually just paint the walls white or a soft cream. I loved the original door color but this really looks lovely. By the way, my garage needs painting. I’m willing to fly you here 👀😳. ~ Janet 😘
I’ll be honest I liked the black doors too…but it just felt like I was trying to incorporate too much into the living room/dining room/kitchen area…and visually it just didn’t mesh (in my opinion). Now all the living spaces in the house flow so much better!! And as for your garage…I need to work on mine too and I’m dreading it!! 😂😂 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch!!

Yes!! The right brush makes all the difference! I always feel like I waste a ton of paint when I use a roller too. I want to get every last drop out of that can that I can. 😂

Would you mind sharing your wall color? It looks beautiful with the Templeton gray. Also, the Templeton gray looks to be a beautiful blue on the screen, but I’m looking at the color chip and it looks darker and more gray to me. Would you say it appears more blue or gray in real life? ❤
The wall color is Edgecomb Gray (Benjamin Moore), I apologize that I forgot to mention that in the video. The Templeton Gray is a blue gray…and in person (at least in our house with the Edgecomb Gray) it very much leans blue. The days that I was filming it was dark and dreary outside, and it was hard to get the camera to really pick the color up accurately. It’s definitely my favorite blue/gray color!! Than you so much for watching!!

What an odd place for a FIREPLACE mantel!
It’s a short wall with no power…so it makes a perfect feature wall for an architectural piece. I think it makes a lovely focal point and adds interest to other wise generic room. Thanks for watching!
