After Smough's retirement amid scandal and rumors of Humanity abuse, Ornstein was forced to leave the Lordran Basketball Association, never to be seen again. However, rumors say he pursued a new life in the Drangleic leagues, in the hopes of reclaiming his glory days. Even now, people will search Heide's Tower of Slams, hoping to catch a glimpse of this old legend practicing his footwork.
He wouldn't stay there however and would eventually go to the archdragon court to train under the legendary nameless dunker whose scores rival that of Gwyn himself. Even today his jersey and sneakers can be found at one corner of the court if one looks hard enough.

You pass through the fog wall and Solaire follows you, you both prepare to put up a fight. You see a basket ball hoop on either side of the room and Ornstein is on a streak of half-court shots. Meanwhile Smough is break dancing as if he were an expert who has practiced for 5+ years.
You just stand and watch. After a few seconds you like to your side to see Solaire using a black separation crystal to escape this mess.

SLM: weapons high in SLM will autodunk enemies, and increase the likelihood of a "hail mary" ranged weapon attack.
BAL: a high BAL value will keep your opponent off-balance, and sometimes put them into a confused state as you evade their attacks.
DNK: status that benefits both slams (attacks with DNK favoured weapons) and increases passes damage, a pass being a powered ball being throw at the oponent face like a spell
