  • Cardinal George Pell has revealed he is ashamed of the Catholic Church for the way it dealt with the “cancer” of child sex abuse in the past.
In an exclusive world-first televised interview with Sky News Australia presenter Andrew Bolt, Cardinal Pell talks candidly about the scourge of child abuse within his own church and how the many failures to act still haunt him today.
“It was like a cancer … we had to cut it out,” he said.
“I totally condemn these sorts of activities, and the damage that it’s done to people.
“One of the things that aggrieves me is the suggestion that I’m anti-victim, or not sufficiently sympathetic. I devoted a lot of time and energy to try to save them, to get justice, to get help and to get compensation.”
Cardinal Pell also shone light on the 405 days he spent locked up for seven child sex offences which were eventually quashed by the High Court of Australia.
He befriended several inmates, including a convicted murderer, and witnessed the devastation ice addiction had on those around him.
Cardinal Pell explained he felt flat following his release but he felt no “anger or hostility” towards his accuser.
He hopes to transition into a quiet life of gardening where he could focus on growing roses and cabbage.

Great interview and it was great to see Cardinal George Pell free and talking again. I also note that I agree with other comments that the Cardinal should sue the Victorian Police and the ABC. To Daniel Andrews the so called woke catholic premier you should be ashamed of yourself for not being able to see that an innocent man was convicted and failing to step in as the premier of Victoria to stop this injustice.

You need to look at the Catholic Church not Pell. He was uncovering serious issues within the Vatican and was completely stiched up. Even up until the end he was speaking out against the people within the Vatican trying to expose the evil and corruption.
I love the catholic faith, but he was completely let down by the church and left to die in prison.
He was and is a man of God and I pray for his soul and that he rests in peace.

@Corruption Fighter I'm not a catholic by a long shot, but all people should be offered the same rule of law despite their profile in society. Investigators should provide inculpatory and exculpatory evidence and should seek the truth, not the crime.
Blackstone's formulation) is the idea that: It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer.

@John Doe The jury was not allowed to know the informant/victim's history of mental health. Just because someone makes an allegation doesn't make it true. Furthermore, there was no prima facia case in this matter and the police failed to include all inculpatory and exculpatory evidence. I'll say it again 7-0

As for Cardinal Pell, a lesser man would be overtaken with bitterness, wanting to vent anger at the system and society that had wrongly accused him. But his faith and confidence in God served him well. For those who said this interview gives them reason to search for God, good. He is there to be found. As for Andrew Bolt, a lesser man would have twisted the responses for his own purposes, would have omitted vast amounts, and would have commented a lot more instead of listening. I love your honesty and integrity Andrew. This was your best work yet!

Andrew bolt, I don't know what you believe regarding faith. I know you're not a Christian
But might I say, that I admire you greatly because you've done what so many refused to do. I've seen 'Christians', even a close friend turn into hate filled people about this.
Your attitude is far more loving than these 'Christians'. Christianity is meant to be about love, and in that regard, I see your character here as far more Christian than these confessing ones.

    • @chrispaynter
      @chrispaynter 4 года назад +2

2 corinthians 4:4 says the devil has blinded the non Christians so they cannot understand the Gospel. That's a paraphrase
God taught me a prayer about this "Father God, remove the veil (blindness)"
Once the blindness is gone, that can receive the Gospel by hearing it (Romans 10:17) and thus accept it. The Bible is the word of God, and without trying to disrespect catholics, people can not hear divine mercy or other words, it is only the Gospel verbatim that is the word of God, and the Gospel in the Bible alone can save them.

Cardinal Pell was an amazing man and servant of God It was entirely fitting that after his persecution that he was released during Easter week the week Christians remember the death and resurrection of Jesus. When Jesus offered himself up to the mob with the state playing a supporting role !! When he died the following Sunday being the one in which we define the Christ as being "the lamb of God " the vulnerability the self sacrifice for humankind ..

To Andrew Bolt- this was an excellent interview. To Cardinal Pell- I understand the journalist you talked about who was upset saying your acquittal. The media was salivating at the anticipation of the High Court finding you guilty. My favourite part of this whole thing was them trying to distinguish the experts commenting that the speed which the High Court wanted to share their decision usually meant that he would be not guilty and the HC were racing to spare an innocent man another day jail time. It’s because corona meant they don’t have that many cases to hear, they reassured themselves. Don’t worry, he will be found guilty. And the utter horror that all seven High Court Judges found him innocent. Suddenly the argument of, he was found guilty in the court of law and you disagreeing is disrespectful of the judiciary didn’t sound so great when it was flipped to, he was found innocent unanimously by the highest court of law and you disagreeing is disrespectful of the judiciary. The whole witch-hunt by the media and Victoria was a joke and so obvious. Thank God it’s over (for now) because we were embarrassed on their behalf.

I am a Catholic since I was little (not a good one offcourse) but I am pretty comfortable how I am so far. I have heard so many beautiful story about forgiveness but I never seen something so real like this. I still don't understand what make him do that? He literally has been destroyed to his very core as far as humanly concerned. But he still have a strength to forgive his enemy? After all these has happened to him? Why? What for? Those people clearly said they wanted him dead and rotten in hell. Why he still give them favour by forgive them? The will never forgive him in return or at least be nice to him. So why bother? What's the point of doing that? He has so many supporters including those 2 ex-prime ministers. He could've easily turn around by utilising his powerful contacts around the world to crush his enemies as easy as turning his palm. And he still chooses to give forgiveness? Is he running out of options? I think this is insane and It doesn't make any sense at all. I know I might clearly lack of faith but honestly I couldn't do what he does. Maybe he has something or some being with him which empower him that makes those things that happen to him looks like nothing. In the other hand, he must have a great power so he is able to do all of this. If anything I hope one day I could learn a little tiny bit of this to make me a better person.

Obviously Cardinal Pell believes that, when we die to this world, ALL truths of what has happened, what he has done (good, bad, indifferent) etc, what WE HAVE ALL DONE, will be bought to account! There are only three options: Heaven (forgiven/sinless for whole life), Purgatory (cleansing of all minor offences against our God or Hell where an individual HAS NOT repented/confessed their sins, which really have offended God ( WE take ourselves to hell, as we do NOT believe that God has saved us and we want to "be with our mates" suggest Mao, Hitler, et al). I would NOT like to have been an unrepentant Priest/anyone in charge of children etc who had practiced being a pedo!

@Andrew H Oh yes, it is guaranteed that these criminal KGB operatives in the Victoriastan Police Dept will definitely be digging up many more false allegations to hurl at Pell. Hopefully, they will all fail like the others have, which I'm pretty sure they will now that the whole country knows that there is a deliberate push by these thugs to persecute the Cardinal.
If Cardinal Pell was actually guilty of any of these, it would have been plainly obvious to everyone and he would have never been released from prison. They have nothing on him because there are no victims of any abuses perpetrated by him. To suggest there is, is simply peddling the same lies that his detractors are spreading around.
Pell has had enemies for nearly 30 years both in the Communist State of Victoriastan, plus those he made in the Vatican false church that is owned and run by the Freemasons and the Mafia. The local thugs will continue to go after him here in Aus, but I think the overseas enemies will be less interested now because they have gotten him out of his job and removed all his influence. They are now free to go about their business without having Pell there to shine a light on their evil.
Unfortunately for Pell, he belongs to the Wolves. His life is now forfeit and sadly they will continue to hunt him down, even if all he does is tend to his veggie and rose gardens.

THINK ABOUT IT? Even Pell's own lawyer knows he's guilty, remember when he said in Pell's defense that he only ever had 'VANILLA SEX' with the children, that statement alone only proves that Pell did something
      .
Also what makes me so angry towards Andrew Bolt and his liberal pedofile supporter group is that they keep on saying LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE?
Apart from the very few people in the court-room NO one has ever been allowed to see any of it... it has always been TOP SECRET, WHY? if Pell was innocent he would demand that it be shown to the public to clear his name
Even the royal commissions findings of George Pell, again TOP SECRET > WHY? why all the secrecy? anyone else it would've been open for the public to see

@Andrew H You are typical of the Socialist Leftists who want to get rid of due process. It is up to the accuser to prove Pell's guilt. That is how our legal system was meant to work, but femtards and all their Marxist cousins have been systematically deconstructing our legal system so that a person is guilty upon allegation.
Femtards are the worst for this. They peddle this idiotic 'believe all women' crap. Women lie. And they lie a lot. Why on Earth would anyone believe a woman without first fully testing her allegation to find any evidence? And if there is no evidence, then test her allegation to see if it was vexatious and if found it was, then she should go to prison for the same length of time her intended victim would have should she had succeeded.
That won't happen of course, because far too many in this country have been pussified by gynocentric women and emasculated by femtards.
Pell has no need to provide evidence when he is wrongfully accused. What evidence is there to provide? It is impossible for him to do so. However, many witnesses proved Pell was nowhere near the boy at the time.

It is Satan who guides fallen people to do terrible things; the Church has always had bad eggs; we had Judas to start with, then a procession of others who peddled for Satan throughout the milenia. However, we have faith in the Church Christ started and the many Saints it has had up to this day. We realise that the Apostles did not abandon their holy orders because of Judas, and neither did Christ or his people. The Catholic Church has been a tremendous force for good down throughout the ages; Its Cathedrals, its monasteries, its schools, its coleges, its hospitals, its missionaries, its Univerities. Christs Church shaped the world we know today for the good and gave most all humans the gift of beinig sacred in the eyes of others and the law.

Bolt deserved this media coup, being one of the very few journalists who pushed for the truth. I am not a Catholic, I am not a Pell fan but never for one minute did I believe him guilty of this particular crime - an implausible crime indeed! Persecution indeed! It is Graham Ashton who should be on trial! And the ABC. Those journos who so relentlessly pursued Pell make me ashamed of my own long career in the media! But I always checked my facts! I did not write (or broadcast) stories based on “feelings”. I did not bend the truth to make a quid, or a reputation. And I was never stupid enough to believe a story like that of Witness J, so full of holes you could drive a truck through it! And as for those two appeal judges....surely they must feel not only foolish but ashamed of their gullibility and apparent lack of legal knowledge. The Australian legal system and the Victorian government has been internationally disgraced by this whole mess. Well done Andrew.

I don’t see how his failure and lack of empathy makes him guilty of actually committing such a crime himself,f, though. PROOF is a,ways the most difficult thing to obtain with any crime and thus is why to my mind the Catholic Church’s greatest sin was not calling in the police when such crimes were drawn to their attention because the police are trained to seek proof. He was third in charge of a truly sinister & supremely powerful global indoctrination machine which exerts absolute authority over the minds of the millions of it's deluded supporter victims. This total brainwashing is rampant here in these comments. These victims thrust their own offspring directly into the awaiting jaws of the dominating beast machine & believe in their mangled minds that their obedience to the machine will reward them with the eternal live they believe they're entitled to & which they crave. Superstitious humanity supports pure evil. As has been well documented, despicable Pell harboured, assisted & protected insidious repeat offender paedophiles & consistantly shipped them from one unsuspecting community to another time & again. His attitude towards the child victims of predatory child rapists was one of nonchalance & he displayed no capacity to care for the innocent whatsoever. He drew up silencing legal contracts & forced victims to accept them before he allowed them even token amounts of compensation for their suffering. Children were nothing but pieces of meat to Pell & his filthy zealot cohorts.
This vile institution is little more than a glorified global paedophile ring financed & supported by fools who "donate" an endless supply of children. The indoctrination sets like concrete in the minds of empty headed slaves.
Pell is about as acceptable into their imaginary heaven as a greasy fat pig in a doctor's surgery & these fools just plow on straight ahead totally deluded & in abject denial. They can't wait to get to heaven to reunite with their messiahs including Pell. There is no logic, only blind faith in sickening garbage. Such is the quality of the indoctrination. But you cannot “read” all the evidence. Not possible. What you can do is read the appeal and the high court appeal.

Crimes so awful you cannot begin to comprehend but you cannot twist the due process of law with the idea that the outcome justifies the means i.e. to use methods of breaking the law to get your end result that you believe to be correct. You cannot judge Pell based on the dishonest construct of lies. This whole case was a sham from the beginning and you have just had 7 High Court judges confirm the travesty of justice that you ignore. You ignore this very unusual unanimous judgement at the peril of the judicial system that rules us. Would you rather the rule of law of the Communist ruling party of China? It is ALL political. This wasn't a complaint case. There was never a complaint. It is political, and the arrogant selfish serving criminals, thought they won. But now is lost. I think it should all be subjected to an enquiry, but there is insufficient will. But more so, there are people that may have to stand up and account for themselves. And that includes our disgrace as a premier lying, and more and more attention is being drawn towards Former Chief Commissioner. Note I said drawn. Not a personal opinion. Cardinal Pell is a prime example of someone who is devoted to his faith and the benefits that bestows. That is a quality that few in modern society can understand. As such he is a great example for us all. It is a real pity that society is headed in the other direction.
Andrew Bolt deserves great credit for his continued support for justice in this whole travesty of justice in Victoria and that was pursued rigorously by the ABC. The ABC fought against him and villified him throughout the whole affair. They presented rhetoric to the point where they had mainstream Australia calling for his blood. It really goes beyond belief that it happened. Surely some action should be taken against the ABC's role as the self appointed purveyors of justice in Australia today.
