NO CARP IN THIS LAKE.. The carp have been netted and removed during the 2023 closed season. They were removed because Carp are an Asian species of fish therefore considered invasive.
It was a bit before that i think, for the original stated reasoning is that carp were discolouring the water by stirring up the bottom of the lake and affecting other species/vegetation and the clarity of the lake. Of course, they failed to mention that it is very open and subject to the wind doing the same stirring up in the shallower areas, and that some areas are very very deep where the carp usually frequent and feed.
Hatchett NE etc have also got the depths of the lake wrong...it is 10ft deep in many parts further out and in the channel. The openness of the lake makes it prone to wind and any turbulence and colouring up the water is only in the shallower edges...which make NE etc reasoning very flawed and deceptive. Perhaps they should plant more trees all around the lake and make it more sheltered. www.advertiserandtimes.co.uk/news/furious-fisherman-protest-against-hatchet-pond-carp-removal-9153825/
