Seeing they one that has higher mileage but the bodies in better shape on the other one from what you’re saying or what the other person said, couldn’t they swap the good engine and transmission from this one to the other one if that one has any problems?

Another thought on the rust: As a former firefighter, that looks like death to me. That frame is what keeps you from becoming what all the force is transferred into during a crash.
The best engines they made was the tacomas 2.7 and 4 v6. My 2.7 had 290k miles till toyota bought it back. Family members currently has a 4.0 with 308k and it was NOT taken care of with tons of idle time sitting at job sites. Those engines won't die
Scotty the drivers side rusts because until recently most Snowplows have there salt spreaders on the left side of plow. Hense the term, the road is center line bare. You can see the center line but right is still covered in snow. Over the years of fixing my vehicles the left side is always harder removing bolts. That is because of rust. My vehicles frames last because I get my vehicles sprayed every year with an anti rust spray.
@debrapolenz2928 I don't see any more side mounted salt spreaders but that car was fairly old and good chance that it was in an area that used side mounted spreader.
@Red_Four In Canada there are many companies that spray your whole car. Underneath, drill holes in many places and spray inside. Rust Check and Krown are 2 companies that sell spray cans. Not sure where they sell products but you can definitely buy them in Canada and they work. Old school is to take used oil and spray that to metal you don't want to rust. Reapply all products once a year. I've had cars last 20 years in the salt. You can't put it on certain things like rotors and exhaust so you end up replacing some things more often but frames the stuff works great.
Scotty is very intelligent- When he trolls, he's trying to tell us something without saying it. A while back I happened to see a video in which he explains why he trolls with the thumbnails. My view is that it's his social commentary. If he just comes and complains about modern society and media, it wouldn't work. On a side note- ask youself why we prop up ppl like the Kardashians, glorify and celebrate unsavory ppl and overconsumption, consistently elect incompetence, choose complacency and settle for sub-par....and how it's always someone else's fault😜. When was the last time you saw a thin healthy person drink Diet Coke?

Scotty, I contend with your take on uni-body. Sure, if it's TOO rusted, cost effectiveness can come out negative, but unless it's too far gone, welding in new material to restore structure can be totally feasible. I worked at a fab shop that included such repairs in their repertoire, and we fixed a lot of rusted out VW Beetle floor pans (the "Flintstone effect") and rocker panels (hot air ducts and also critical for the Porsche 914s to keep them from bending in half i you took the roof panels out.). Also the frame mounts for Dodge Dart torsion bars, and rear spring mounts under the trunk floors (When the mounts gave out, the spring would peel up a strip of trunk floor up like a can opener.) The only limits to such operations are time, money, and imagination.
I sincerely miss my 06 matrix. Ended up handing it down to my sister after she wrecked her Corolla. At about 160k miles, she was getting ready to sell it because it was misfiring and vibrated (because of the miss) and she wanted another Corolla. 4 spark plugs and a can of seafoam later and it was purring like a kitten! She still sold it, though. One of the best cars I've ever had. I smile every time I see one. I have a RAV4 now, it's great but it's not as fun as the matrix.

If you put the two side by side and opened the hoods, the engine bays would look identical. So, the Vibe was essentially a re-bodied Corolla. I personally liked the Vibe styling better.
