Know what I really love about your videos? I can hear them while walking and only need to look one thing or another when you say you'll be showing a picture or something 😊 I love it!!! I'm here trying to unlearn how to focus to much on calories numbers and focus on steady weight loss. This time it is coming off and staying off and I was never so proud of myself and my motivation. It's been 6 months since I started to see change. I have lost 16 kgs and the kgs keep falling off and when I feel better they fall even quicker 😄

I love your videos to stay motivated. I started exercising regularly at the gym. After 2 months, I did not lose any weight at all. I admitted what I already knew-that it's all about the food. I started being conscious of the food choices I was making and cut out trigger foods for about 2 months. Then, I started focusing on a calorie deficit. I am now down about 14 lbs. I set my first, realistic goal at 20 lbs, so I am getting there. I think I have been able to stick with it because I did it in stages. I was not ready to focus on calorie reduction immediately. Now, I really enjoy trying new recipes and eating quality food. For me, it really is just a healthier way of living. Most important is I feel good mentally and physically.

I definitely don't worry when I don't lose weight week to week. I have been working out and been more active and I am aware that muscle gain means slight weight gain. But when I don't see weight loss in 8 months, I start to lose confidence and wonder how I ever lost any weight leading up to that period. Ultimately, I know these 8 months won't even be remembered in years to come!

In April I started with taking a 15 minute walk away from my car then 15 minutes back to equal 30 minutes and by the end of that I would be so exhausted. Now I’m able to speed walk for 4 minutes then jog for 30 seconds till I’m done a 4 mile/6.4km stretch in all types of weather. I can’t wait to be able to jog the park twice (8 miles/12.8km). Slow and consistent. Give your body a chance to transform into this new you.

I struggle with my body image and actually battled eating disorders in my younger years (maybe still battling, if i'm being honest). I have gotten to my goal weight many many times, but then bingeing urges flood back. I get down to a size 4, and even though i actually enjoy the way i feel eating in a healthy and sensible way, i just can't stop myself from eating an entire pizza or a double batch of macaroni and cheese or whatever. I go into this haze of food seduction, and i just ruin everything i accomplished, and then i feel ashamed and like a failure, and i hate how fat i get and how i feel from eating crap. I just don't know how to break this cycle.

Great video. And i cannot agree more. As it was for me i also prefer small caloric deficit. Yes it took longer time but diet is sustainable and i almost never felt hungry. I was in around 200 to 300 kcal defficit for around 10 months and i lost around 10kg and from around 25% to 17% body fat(just my estimation) and also gain muscles that hepled me not to hit plateau (combination of weight liffting and cardio). Now i am eating in maintenance, way healthier than before, and now my goal change from fat loss to gain as much muscle i can. As you said in video its never ending story with our goals :)

I'm going to start real slow, past eating disorders in both directions. I'm starting with the habit of walking for 30-60mims daily after I've master that for a month I'll be adding some resistance training 2-3days a week and once I've done that a month then I'll look at my food better. Since i feel i normally mindfully eat but i can improve. I have 10kgs to loose so it's not a massive amount and i rather take 1-2yrs then end up in hospital again

@@lucylismore it's the calorie counting that set off either the other training while eating like a toddler or the binging so that's why it's my last habit. Want to find a way to do this without tracking. Rather eat the same things and each time eat more of the low calorie food parts to make them less calories without being hugely less food. Then restrict everything

If you can have a consistent, sustainable process that creates the calorie deficit, you can lose weight. When I started on this six months or so ago, I established a new diet for myself and a new exercise habit. The diet isn’t strenuous and doesn’t make me feel unhappy or like I’m denying myself the basics. I’m averaging an hour or more a day of useful cardio (running, walking, biking). I lose around 3.5 pounds/month. Is it a BIG number? No (and I’ve actually had some people sneer that I’m not losing ten). But it’s something I can maintain for a long time. And my overall 70 pound goal should take me about 20 months.

Thank you!! This totally validates my current approach to weight loss. I’m down 7lbs over the course of about 7 weeks. Although I’d like it to be more, my main focus was to gain back a positive attitude about myself, tracking my activity and calorie consumption over a week at a time, and being more consistent about my choices. My calorie intake fluctuates between 1,300-2,000/day depending on my activity. I think the fluctuation is what keeps my body moving towards weight loss because I’m teaching it that it’s not going to starve on those days where my calories are on the lower side. I appreciate your videos, thank you!!

I needed this today. I’ve lost 5lbs in 3 weeks.. and then this week I’m up like .1…. I feel so annoyed. I’m only trying to lose 1lbs a week so I’m sticking to it. Because my calories are not super low I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. I have a lot of weight to lose. My maintenance is 2700-2800 and I’m eating 2200 per day. Just an example of someone who’s maintenance is much higher 😂

I'm honestly so frustrated right now. I"ve been at a weight loss plateau for the past few weeks and I'm not quite sure what to do. Having PCOS sucks for weight loss. For years I've gotten rid of gluten and lately I've been trying to cut out sugar and diary. I've been tempted to buy one of those scales that show muscle mass, fat content, etc but I'm not quite sure how accurate they are. But thank you for the reminder of slow progress compared to fast.

If you make your diet too restrictive you won't be able to maintain the weight loss. So while it is a good idea to cut down on sugar and dairy don't quit them completely if you are already gluten free.

Could you make a video about only losing up to 5 kg or so? I’ve heard times and times again people who lost massive amounts of weight claiming they took half a year for the last few pounds whereas the biggest amount took them also half a year. Why is that? I’ve never been overweight, but always thought about those few kilos. I think it could be more difficult because the needed changes you need to make to your life are more subtle than if your lifestyle caused you to be overweight in the first place?

      Yep.
I use to do 6-12 hours a week of exercise and over 3 months would lose loads of weight even though I would stuff my face. However as I was training and competing for sports I could not eat certain things as I would feel sluggish. I also would run or do spinning early morning before eating breakfast. So for example I rarely ate pizza, burgers and chips (french fries) as they would make me feel sluggish and wouldn't provide sufficient energy for me to exercise in the early morning.

I think you need to start having a more positive mentality about your body. I'm the same height as you and being around 60kg I think is perfect, maybe you can focus on training but losing too much weight is unhealthy... also if you are training it might be that you're gaining muscle.. also you can't force your body to lose weight in certain areas either

so this is how im feeling but im 35, 5'1 and pescatarian. ive been trying to lose 2 sizes for a few yrs now and at first kept getting sick and now i keep getting injured (im accident prone) so i have to take a lot of breaks :/ weight goes up and down rapidly too. it especially goes up when i stress about it. give your body time to rest, either days off with epsom salt baths or a week off and relax. so long as its not longer than 2 weeks?? u shouldnt lose strength/progress. eat avocado every day and fresh foods/ roasted steamed veggies. i just wrote up my calories cos i had no idea and im under even having daily cocoa, peanut butter and yogurt, chia seeds mix i love. focus on heavy lifting too it really seems to help a lot of ppl. the main goal with diet is to not spike insulin all the time which is why IF can help, so long as its not to the point that its stressful. for me 6 hr window is the least stressful and can get 2 meals and a snack/dessert in but im not strict about it. im making progress but ive had external stress (good stress) thats distracted me and ive been snacking on rice mixed with butter xD SO BAD but ill excuse myself briefly so long as i dont really binge (even then i only point my finger at myself and say no, dont do this to yourself it doesnt even make you feel good). progress is slow but burning yourself out ruins the fun in life which is more important.

Dont abandon your legs while resistance training for the fear of getting bulky cause you wont. That 'toned' look we are after needs muscle development in the legs.
