I would class Succession as comedy drama, too - the dialogue is some of the best I've seen (and I'm a complete telly addict!). Great video. Thanks so much, Jess.

Randomly, after reading a script of Ashes to Ashes, I remembered that fantastic series that started in the late nineties: The Cops. Such good writing - the eps are available on YT, wish they were on iPlayer. So good!

So a question please if you're able to answer from here. If I submit a script for a TV series. Which I plan to have at least 10 episodes completed before submitting am I supposed to only submit my first episode? Also I'm probably going to work hard on it regardless but what are the chances of success for a completely original Doctor Who series spin off that ties into the Whovian Verse?

Tbh I will finish it regardless because it feels right to finish the story I'm writing but definitely if you're able to answer my first question.

Hi Joel, please submit just one episode but it needn't be the first one - if you feel that another episode showcases your writing better then use that. If submitting a later episode in your series you may include a brief outline (1-3 pages) for context within the same document but this should not be included in your 30 page count. More T&Cs can be found here on our website: bbc.in/3pmbIac
The Writersroom does not produce content or commission ideas and does not work as the script department for other shows such as Doctor Who. There is currently no process by which BBC Content takes unsolicited ideas from the public either. The show encourages people to use Doctor Who as inspiration for their own original creative works. Unfortunately, no. You must be resident in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Republic of Ireland to submit and take part in our development schemes.

Can I send you my crime novel? It sold 10,000 copies locally! I’m told it’s a gripping page-turner.

Hi there, we do not accept any work other than scripts such as prose or poetry. If you would like to adapt your own work into a screenplay and are based in the UK or Republic of Ireland then you can submit to our Open Call scheme.
