His body type meant that if he was ever out with injury, it took him a little longer than other players to get back to full match fitness. But once fit, he could maintain it.
No muscle is stupid, he was very strong. His ball control and reading of his opponents movements enabled him to disguise any slight lack of agility. He still had great balance and could twist and turn. He just wasn't as agile as the most twinkle toed players around.

Yeah its pretty ridiculous, Rooney was very thick set as a young lad, very strong and solid but certainly not “over weight”, He also had plenty of agility and explosive speed in his prime, during the Ronaldo years he was box to box, an absolute work horse, football has moved on since Rooney played, everybody is now probably single digit body fat because of advances in sports science so it skews peoples perceptions, Wayne was obviously no athlete like Cristiano but his body was extremely functional in how he played the game during the era he played the game in.

I can't remember him having a bad game. When we had Rooney, CR7 and Tevez up front all at the same time that's the best attacking setup I have ever seen in over 30 years of watching Man United. You can't stop any one of those players scoring as an individual, but we had three of them! It was a cheat code. Imagine trying to stop those 3 passing the ball to each other and scoring. Defenders had no chance and no possible tactic.

He's a good lad who grew up in enforced media sh1te through football and the way it is in the modern media instant space we find ourselves in . He comes across as a nice lad and sure he would help anyone out and have the craic. Also think his knowledge of the game will help him teach others. Hopefully as a manager he gets some flowers, tough run he has had so far! Maybe he gets luck next time. Thanks for reading and all the best 👍

He would've been average back in the 60's and 70's when everyone was like that in England.

No muscle, no agility? Did you even see this guy play? He was chubby but he was low-key athletic.

2010 World Cup it’s was like he’d forgotten how to play football, never really showed it on the world stage at the highest level

How can you take a player's two best qualities, his agility and strength, and twist the narrative so much that you make them his worst attributes. This title is madness and makes you look like amateurs.

Media in UK and even the fans always put much pressure on the players, comparing them to top players like pele at early stages. Not good at all. And their bullying is much

I am shocked. Overweight? Not agile? What do want, a footballer or a ballet dancer? In his day, Rooney always looked very quick, powerful, and agile to me.

Rooney was a Gattuso in attack. What the hell are they talking about.
