Another brilliant design from Volvo, I'm happy Volvo kept some tradition and similarity to their current designs, and didn't go crazy like Mercedes and BMW to try and reinvent themselves in the electric era with overly changed design and ugly or odd results. Prices have just skyrocketed on everything including cars, and that's a shame. However, the new EX90 is elegant and tastefully changed from the XC90 design to the electric era. Well done Volvo.

Looks like a very good evolution of the XC90! Like it a lot. Very classy. The bi-directional charging is a great feature and helps to justify the cost as it becomes a home battery bank at the same time.
The problem is that they state you can charge the car at cheap rate overnight ... it won't be cheap rate over night will it though if the whole of the UK is charging up their cars in the future during the night. There will be no such thing as cheap rate....
I've literally never needed a "home battery bank" and I'd wager neither do the other 9 out of 10 people. In what scenario besides a power outage would that be useful? A generator is a much better option.
I love this car, i have enjoyed the XC90 t8 for the last 4 years, the best car i have ever had and now the EX90 comes in and elevates all the volvo qualities, fantastic!

The ability to charge at cheap night rates and use the power at home during the day is very attractive. Actually sounds good value when compared to the price of home batteries connected to a solar array.

To be fair the old XC90 was a great selling car, and the XC60 was the best selling midsized SUV, so not so much of a comeback to be fair, more of a consolidation or possibly a bigger market share with this great looking EX90!

Im not into electric cars but my wife and I switched from Mercedes (ML) and Jaguar (XKR) as well as Jeep to two XC Volvos a few years ago. We are very satisfied. They look good and they are good.
I am an existing XC90 owner and I feel like the EX90 front looks like the car is wearing a mask -- looks slightly plain and loses the XC90's commanding character front grill. In short, the new EX90 design does not immediately jump out at me, unlike the XC90....
Currently have an XC90 T8 as I needed a 7 seater that could take adult sized children in the back and saw the hybrid as a great midway as I also wanted it for regular long distance travel. The EX90 will almost certainly replace my diesel estate when it's time comes such I have found the T8 to be so so good and this can only get better, especially with the increased electric range over the T8 for daily drives.
I love how they've gone minimalist but making an interior minimal by sticking everything in a screen just makes it harder to use. Looks great but I wouldn't want to live with that touchscreen.

@@N1ckZ they still make new cars with buttons. I personally hope all new cars don't completely switch to screens. It's a cool style but definitely less practical. You only want a limited number of controls in a car, unless it's completely self driving, at which point a screen becomes more practical.
After having lived with the touch-screen of the XC90 for 5 years, I find it to be sufficiently convenient for any situation I have come across. But yes, touch-screen operation takes away your awareness from the street more than e.g. Audi’s brilliant MMI touch button.

Live in Norway, and you can afford the EX90 lol. Cheapest EV cars are in Norway. I also do like S90, V60-V90, XC90 and EX90 But I wish I could afford it. I am only a student though. But the price will be around 120k€ in the Netherlands (where I live)
Had the current 90 and was a fabulous car. You can see this is still a XC90 at heart but hate that sensor on the roof and agree it makes it look like a London cab. Whatever you do don’t buy black!
Looks fantastic. Very futuristic yet without a doubt a Volvo. Love the rear and quarterview from the back with the awesome looking tail-lights but the animated front DRLs is just stunning! Looking forward to get one of these out on the road! 😊

I love the way volvo design their cars. And the interior of this especially the seat and the colour of the seat is just magnificent. Love it. Next car for me is going to be this one.
Been driving an xc60 recharge hybrid for the last two years and couldn't be happier. Drove from Berlin to Dublin and back using mostly one pedal drive, great fun. Looking forward to testing driving the new 90.

There is one reason why Volvo choose this spot...its about the "visibility " of the lidar sys...at least Volvo are claiming up to 250 meters of visibility fo the radar sys...u can check out their video on why they ibstalled there

As an architect I see your point about the design. The overall proportions are really good and it looks particularly well from the side and rear with a good 3/4 rear view but the front disappoints…… it looks cheap from the front

Well... overal it looks good. But they didn't risk too much. Front of the car i really like it. Seems elegant but at the same time, very futuristic. Those lights in the front, somehow reminds me the helmet of the iron man. The lateral of the car is almost a copy paste from the XC90. In the rear i do like it but i think they could have gone a little bit further... more audacious. Looks good on the outside. It doesn't look fantastic but looks good and nice. Specially the front design. In the inside i do like its relaxed and zen atmosphere. Those headrests with Bowers and Wilkins sound system integrated, look really cool 😎👌. The central console looks minimalistic but also sophisticated and modern style. I also like the smooth kinda zen style, that they putted into the ambience lighting of the doors panels and central console. Looks really cozy and nice inside. Spacious, VERY SAFE, modern, good materials, good quality ride and pleasure inside the relaxed minimalistic interior design, a lot of technology, powerful EV, so... i guess it's a good choice over the German brands. But also too expensive. More than 100.000€ is a lot to pay for one of these. But i guess quality and sophistication and technology has a big price just like the german ones have. So... it is what it is. Overall... i say... Good job Volvo 🙌👍

Owned Volvos for the last 15 years, some new, some 2nd hand. Our last one used to have a tendency to do emergency stops if you went into a parking space too fast. So not convinced the technology is ready yet.
Good video Matt. I own an xc90, which isn’t exciting but is comfortable, efficient (for what it is) and kind to its tyres (unlike my old x3). This new EV looks great and, apart from the price, looks like a great replacement. It’s much better to look at than either the bmw or the Mercedes models you showed, which I think are awful.
Regarding the Lidar (5:30), it would be nice if Volvo would display an image (rather Lidar or infrared) to the driver, so as to be able to see on a screen what animals, people, etc., might be lurking in the darkness ahead or in the dense fog ahead in daytime or nighttime... After all, cars are still *driven* by *drivers* who are *looking* ... As for the frunk (7:05), they should allow space there for an optional (or standard) full-size spare wheel/tire...
Looks good. No wireless apple car play and no wireless phone charging was a non-starter for me when I shopped the smaller versions. Not even a good place to set your phone in the car when driving!
This thing is gorgeous. Not trying too hard like an IX which looks like and ugly evil creature but not like an EQX which is a bit egg shaped. Practical, posh looking, good range. Just got it right like the old one

Volvo XC60 D4 is my dream car, and it is the only one so far that I likey every perspectives, it's brave.
Makes you wonder why Polestar is a separate brand. But beautiful job all the same, its the most handsome of the big luxury SUeVs so far
Polestar will do the performance and sporty cars, Volvo the elegant and comfortable cars. Both all EV from now on.

The best thing about this design is it makes the xc90 age really well. The XC90 will not get old for the next 10-15 years.

Well, now XC90 price full options is 104.190€ and it's a petrol mild hybrid AWD with "only" 300 HP. The diesel is 1.050€ cheaper and only 235 HP.

I definitely love Volvo, been having an XC90 t8 for 6 years now, I might switch for this one
I just love how Volvos design makes look the Germans sassy and tasteless, IX looks stupid next to the EX
Probably one of few electric cars I'd be proud to own and drive every day

Owned Volvos for the last 15 years, some new, some 2nd hand. Our last one used to have a tendency to do emergency stops if you went into a parking space too fast. So not convinced the technology is ready yet.
like the more reserved exterior design, not every EV car has to be out-of-the-world 'futuristic'

Good video Matt. I own an xc90, which isn’t exciting but is comfortable, efficient (for what it is) and kind to its tyres (unlike my old x3). This new EV looks great and, apart from the price, looks like a great replacement. It’s much better to look at than either the bmw or the Mercedes models you showed, which I think are awful.
I love my XC60! Can't wait for this to start production in the US!

EX90 all day long, I currently have an XC90 T8 Polestar and its an absolutely wonderful car.
The EX90 looks a lot better compared to the iX and EQS SUV. But of course, the minimalist interior is something to be desired in my opinion.
I rarely like the look of SUVs as I’m a sedan person but this car is beautiful.

Regarding the Lidar (5:30), it would be nice if Volvo would display an image (rather Lidar or infrared) to the driver, so as to be able to see on a screen what animals, people, etc., might be lurking in the darkness ahead or in the dense fog ahead in daytime or nighttime... After all, cars are still *driven* by *drivers* who are *looking* ... As for the frunk (7:05), they should allow space there for an optional (or standard) full-size spare wheel/tire...
Looks good. No wireless apple car play and no wireless phone charging was a non-starter for me when I shopped the smaller versions. Not even a good place to set your phone in the car when driving!

This thing is gorgeous. Not trying too hard like an IX which looks like and ugly evil creature but not like an EQX which is a bit egg shaped. Practical, posh looking, good range. Just got it right like the old one
In my opinion, this looks sooo much better than the German rivals. Absolutely beautiful car.
