Thanks for the vid. I tried recording a zoom video as an MP4 and when I got play it I find the audio is working and in tact but it shows a black screen throughout. I was able to add OBS64.exe as you described in the first portion of your video however that has not fixed the issue of viewing the video. Any idea as to what I've done wrong on whether or not I am able to restore the video to go with the existing audio on the mp4 files?
Hello Tony. Thanks for your comment. First of all this video was designed to be followed sequentially. If the first fix doesn't work go to the 2nd fix, if that doesn't work then go on the 3rd fix and so on.
From the looks of it, I assume you used Window Capture on Zoom.exe?? If not try using that see if that shows anything.
Otherwise you can try using Display Capture and Can Crop it so it only shows people and their camera in the meeting.

One of the best OBS video's I've seen, I have had the black screen for about a week now and this really helped. Only problem I have with this is the fullscreen application setting. Only thing that generally worked was the capture specific window.

Thanks for the video. I have a question, the instructions for recording Minecraft on OBS have file paths for 1.17 and 1.18, but not any version past that. What would I use to record later versions? I've tried the file paths with alpha, beta, and gamma, but none of them have worked.

Try this
1. Go to "%localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.4297127D64EC6_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Local
untime\"
2. Type "javaw.exe" on the search box
3. Hopefully that locates it and you can check its actual file location via Properties (right clicking on it) and then you proceed as normal for minecraft obs black screen fix

Question bro, any thoughts why my display capture is the only thing not being recorded and showing in the download after i click stop recording? My display capture is showing fine during recording and before but in the download its blank screen… I NEED HELP 🤦🏽♂️
Ok I recommend you get VLC Player. As i think your footage MIGHT be fine.
Download link to VLC player is - www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
Play that black footage again WITH VLC Player and see.

Well you could do that on OBS. By adding your Screen and then adding your Facecam (by adding a Video Capture Source and assign it to your webcam/camera on it)

Good day, I have this problem in OBS my cursor is disappearing when I want to RESIZE or EDIT the SCENES.
note: this problem is not related to recording or streaming.
I got a question are you using Display Capture.
Did you increase the size of your cursor?
for fix 2, what if when i select the game, and its open. its still a blackscreen?

i don't know how this is possible but i don't have a "obs-studio" file in program files. (yes i have looked in my c drive and d drive)
Ok so its somewhere else. Go to where your obs studio shortcut is. Right Click on it and go on Properties it will tell you where it is.

i have a black screen and when i add disply/window capture then the black screen is not there but i have a yellow border, to remove it i need to go to properties and change the record method but then i have a black screen again

I play and record roblox and it works with window capture but It doesn't work with game capture, it used to work before but it suddenly doesn't pick up with game capture. I've done everything.
Seems like a recent thing that Roblox is getting a black screen. It might be due to something added on the game's code which is not allowing it to be recorded in Game Capture anymore.
Same, only the other capture works for my Roblox but game capture doesn’t work anymore

Then the next option is Window Capture. This applies to Roblox also.

Thank you so much, this helped me fix this issue! Now I have another problem, when I'm recording the game I'm playing (Roblox) it out of nowhere crashes the game. I have heard closing out of all Chrome tabs and only having OBS and the game on should fix this issue.

But to save you headache all you need to do is go on the Resolution part on OBS and instead of selecting Canvas and Base Resolution. You type "1080x1920"
@Zortec just one more question. I have OBS studio version 29.1.3 and now I don't have a pause button when I record. Where did it go?

In my opinion might be a bug or its removed temporarily and will be added with new update.

I have a problem with one game, the game is called Project IGI, the problem is that when I start the game, nothing is visible on OBS, on other games everything is fine, can you help with that.
Try playing Project IGI in borderless fullscreen or window mode. Instead of using Game Capture, use Window Capture.

well I tried to record a game called Age of History II, and the screen is black, plus its the red dot in the left up corner, i did fit it to the screen but its still black, what should I do?

What if you're trying to react to a show or movie, and there's no visual when after you've recorded, but it has sound? I'm sorry if that was worded weird.
you need to add your facecam with Video Capture Device and scale it down to make it look like you are reacting to it simultaniously if that what you after.
I have a huge issue with trying to stream dolphin emulator. It disconnects the emulator with the full controller function. Black out the screen. I have no way of solving this issue. Clicking the mouse between 2 monitors ruins everything.
Does Dolphin become black screen? or it showing black screen on OBS??? My suggestion is to play in borderless full screen on dolphin and capture it with Game Capture, if that doesnt work use Window Capture.
I’m not sure what my problem is but I just started streaming again and if you look at my recent live stream at 50 minutes my screen gets stuck in one scene but I’m still live and playing the game is there a fix to this issue please 😢

ok have you tried to lower resolution really low on your ps5 to see whether it shows up or not??? does it work on elgato software?
I contacted Elgato to send me there capture card so i could look into it for you. but i doubt they will send me one as i am not big enough.
i also recommend try using a different hdmi cable to see if that is causing it.

whenever I tried to use OBS game capture for fortnite, it was always a black screen, but I found that going to Game Capture properties and enabling "Use anti-cheat compatibility hook" fixed it. and i dont think it's mentioned in this video
Thanks for mentioning this. By default Use anti-cheat compatability hook is already turned on any new obs setup. It seems you may have accidentally anticked it. I think maybe i should clarify this point next time i do new video on it :) Thank you

I can see my webcam and my game capture fine on OBS, but when I start steaming all I have on Twitch is a black screen. I can hear my game audio on twitch but its not showing any video at all.

Tried everything and doesn't work. The problem is that my game capture having a black screen and it has the hidden game capture but it has one line going up while the video in the hidden game capture has two lines facing south and east.
