In the Torah (Old Testament) the phrase is used to describe a person in heaven who was not a heavenly being (Angel, demon etc) but a human or appears to be human. The reason I know this is true is simply because ONLY a human being can be the son of a man. Make sense? 😎

Adam is son of god, like the other bene elohim, Adam just means man. The Son of Man could be used to describe any descendant of Adam.
