My 350z did the same thing with the windows when I got it. I found out that there is a “reset” button on the window motor itself that if you hold down for a certain amount of time it will “relearn” it’s position and operate properly. It does that because when you close your door the window lifts up a bit for a proper seal and sometimes it has to relearn that position. Try that before buying and replacing the motor. Nice videos!
On the window issue it’s actually not a sign to replace the motor. But just a sign that you need to relearn the auto up and down procedure which involves finding a button located behind the door panel.
Thank you! Funny you mentioned this, my driver inside AND outside door both handles went out like two weeks ago so I've been crawling in and out the passenger door every day lol Next video is how to fix this!🙌
The Penny trick works. I have had some in mine for years. Put as many as you can in there to where it pops open to where you like it. Another notorious item that may/will break are the door handles. I'm pretty easy w/ mine so I haven't had that issue yet.
Ill have to try out the penny trick! I've heard about the door handles, luckily I haven't had any issues with mine yet! I did some googling and I guess they mainly go out when someone tries to open the door, while its being unlocked/locked at the same time! Gotta be careful with that haha good to hear from you again my friend!
I had the issue with the door handle. The plastic piece inside broke apart and the cable can’t stay where it should be. Zip ties are easy fix compared with replacing the entire part for $150+. The only thing I can complain about this fix is it feels a bit lighter to pull the handle compared with the other/passenger side which is not broken yet
Hehe… yeah… 2003 z here. Replaced the window motors 2x on driver and once on passenger. Also done the struts for the hatch. Stoked about the trunk hatch spring things! Just learned to deal with it. So much better. Thanks bud
I need to do this...I fixed the window regulator a few months ago in a video, but it recently started going down again...will make a video addressing it soon! Thanks for tuning in🙏🏼
Hey! Thanks for your comment🙏🏼 i do normal interval oil changes around 3k miles! My car usually burns about a quart per month, so I’m adding it every now and then. When it comes time for the change, the oil isn’t even that bad because of topping it off with new oil pretty often. Mostly change just for the oil filter!
i shoot white silicone lubricant in the front window channels on the doors, makes them work way better in winter and cause less stress on the motor itself.
Just as a point to note because I've seen you say it in more than one video. The Rev Up actually got exhaust variable valve timing added, as well as having it on the intake cam. The normal DE already had it on the intake cam as well
Dang! Didn't think about the vent flaps, but I have seen a few cars where this is common. I'd assume ordering online or finding out of a parts car would be the best option! Thanks for tuning in man!🙏
So uhh everything is correct but your window goes back down after hitting the top??? Mine scares me because its the drivers side that is broken so its either not working or after hitting it hard enough for it to work it will hit the top and continue clicking not knowing its at the top
About a year ago my drivers door window would stop working and only would work when i hit the bottom of the door, or tried rolling it up as I closed the door to jiggle the motor. One day I rolled it all the way down and it never came back up haha I replaced the window motor and it solved my issue! I actually filmed the process and never uploaded it so maybe I'll try and edit that together soon! Only took me about 45mins - 1 hour to swap the motor! Appreciate your comment my friend :)
hey johnny great video. i have recently purchased a 2005 revup g35 sedan manual from a one owner with 115k miles. It does not seem to burn alot of oil yet and sounds healthy. What would you recommend other than checking the oil for these engines? Is the timing chain or guides a weak point at all?
Hey Mo! Thanks for your comment, and congrats on your purchase!! The oil consumption is pretty random, with some cars burning more than others so you may have gotten one of the better ones! Also, the timing chain and guides were built to outlast the engine if you keep up with the oil changes! If you plan on tracking it often, then id suggest doing the timing chain a little later on just to be safe!🙌 Other than that, I'd just change the tranny fluid and you should be good for awhile!
I have a 2006 350z and the price I'm being quoted to code p1764 $2900 is this roughly what I'm looking at? No one has checked the car, auto zone gave that code. Cut Car off and Car hasn't done it since. Like 3 days ago I've driven only close by less than 3 miles. Any advice Car has 170542 miles. Ty
5:12 you just have to pull the interior pannel out and do the reset presedure, i replaced mine because it woulding move up and down atall and this happened after a hour of installing the new regulator lol just reset it with the black button and should be good untill you unplug your battery
The window motor replacement is the most important trust me While you replace the window motors replace the lock motors at the same time Dont be like me and be unlucky as fuck and have the window stuck all the way down and the door not able to unlock
Just a question is it Normal to smell like oil burning or burning oil which ever comes first haha like about a burnt smell (I use 10w-30 full synthetic)
Hey! Normally right after I top up, I usually smell oil burning but only during WOT and at a higher rpm(5.5k+). I’m using 10w-40 and don’t notice the smell as much, compared to the 5w-30 but it’s starting to get cooler out so I’ll probably switch back to 5w-30 for the winter! Shouldn’t be too big of an issue as long as you keep up with topping it off🤙
Most of the things aren't actually such a bad thing. 350z are really low maintenance. But make sure to don't wreck it cause you're gonna spend so much money in changing many parts of the cars, and many cars aren't the same after a wreck, unless you make sure to replace everything properly, of course
So true!! Cars cost a lot to get put back to proper safety spec. Plus, the panel gaps will probably never be the same!😂 But overall the 350z is a very reliable car! Thanks for tuning in David!!
Also once the compression rod arm bolt attached to the frame rusts, the car is basically scrap metal because you would need to cut into the floor from the inside to replace it... Definitely don't drive on salty roads.
LMFAOOO i just bought an 06 350z and everything you said besides the alarm system happens to my car , i found that if you just hold the window button like it doesn’t have auto mode then it’ll stay , and my trunk won’t even fully close

I’ve got a 06 Rev-up! Pretty sure it’s the base model with cloth seats. I googled and it says the Grand Touring 350z trim came with power seats and leather! Didn’t know😜
Google also says that the electric motors aren’t usually broken, but they get stuck! I guess you can reset it by unplugging the seat with the car off, then turn the electronics on for 20 seconds(don’t turn the motor), then turn off again. Plug the seat in, then start the car and it should accept new commands🤙
