I really wonder why they chose to bring back almost every VA from the Stay Night/Movie dub for Zero Archer became Kariya, Kirei became Iskandar, Gilgamesh became Diarmuid, which is especially confusing when they could have just kept the old VA instead of have him do another character
Jurica Eršek this is why I hate western dub contracts. Legally those actors aren’t allow to voice characters with those names for another dubbing studio. So they had to switch. Funimation tried their best. But that was all they were allow to do.
In the subs on the Japanese version Archer refers to his own actions in the first person, rather than the second person to shirous actions. I allways liked that more but the dub has been really good for this movie
I've always loved this version for that reason. Not that I dislike the series, since they've explain way more in it and you get hit with different angles of pain/perspectives but there's something truly special with Liam O'Brian portrayal and the dialogue that goes with it. You can feel the betrayel in his voice of what he's seeing and instead what he became. A real, pure incarnation of everything he wanted in himself to achieve standing right in front of him and all he can muster up is his hatred and disgust for the foolishness of his young heart to believe it was going to play out the way he'd always envisioned. A man torn by his desire to love himself and his ideals so much to the point of wanting to eliminate his own existence from time in order to protect that dream and the shock of finally seeing that embodiment standing before him and praying he could be convinced otherwise. It really strikes a not with me, who has always had this internal conflict in the same vein of my ideals and the reality my path took me.
The point of this fight was never for archer to kill Shirou. the reason Shirou won was because archer let him win. Shirou's resolve and determination reminded him of what He was before and why He did what he did. It's a really amazing idea when you think about it. People start off with amazing ideals and dreams but then after time they get tarnished and covered by the burden of the task and we lose sight of them, forgetting what drove us to that point in the first place. Archer knows who Shirou is and at first glance his intention is to kill him. The truth us he wants to prevent Shirou from going down the same path, thinking he can scare or injure him to the point of giving up. But Shirou's resolve reminds Him of his buried Ideals and He realizes he cannot shake him from that path.
Its a reminder to himself of why Archer even went down this path. Poetic and tragic at the same time. And as the Aimer song goes, "it lights a Fire long forgotten"...
I always believed this interpretation, but tbh this movie kindof ruins that when Shirou manages to beat Gilgamesh on his own right after. Even so, I'm sure this was the intended idea behind the Shirou vs Archer scene
I really don't know why they didn't keep the voice actors for Shirou and Archer. Yeah, Zero came out and replaced the voice for Saber but that was a decent change and the actress still did a good job. But Bryce Papenbrook as Shirou was nothing but wrong.
Cake# You mean to say that Kiritsugu Emiya's voice actor, Matthew Mercer, voted #1 voice actor in America, sucks at voice acting...? Dude, what are you talking about???
This is actually really cool. The fact Shirou doesn’t deny his ideals are just fantasy, instead that becomes his power. Turning his thoughts into the power that will save the world, and himself
Archer: "Your future is nothing but a prison for the foolish mortals like ourselves that believe in fake ideals. Stop this and seek a better fate or face certain death." Shirou: "No u"

UBW did the fight better. Here Shirou pretty much says, 'nuh-uh, shut up, Archer', rather than providing any meaningful refutation of his own future cynicism.
Xadhoom Xado I get what you are saying but I don't think it's portrayed in the way you interpret. A lot of this scene gets misread easily if you don't gather from all the series. Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero, UBW movie and UBW series all have little notes relating to Shirou's Ideals. The issue of this movie is it tries to capture a lot in a short span. I think it still comes across as the same idea however: Shirou is stubborn in his Ideals and because of that Archer let's him win. He doesn't win out of greater skill or power but more so Archer never intended to kill Shirou. Before you say he did think of these points. Every time in the series Shirou was about to be or is hurt by Archer he is either saved or has ability to escape. Even when wounded Archer could easily kill Shirou but chooses to hit him in non lethal areas. He has full understanding of Shirou's Healing factor and his Capabilities due to his class and his knowledge of Shirou. So it comes off as more of a defiant action in this scene but essentially it's Archer attempting to break Shirou's will and so preventing him from going down the same road. There's a lot of deep shot hinted and talked about in this series that people overlook. And what's cool is the hints and signs are there they just never come out and say it straight alot.
Urinal if you know the background info for Archer(Emiya), which you clearly do, your point is heavily strengthened. There is at absolutely no point, where Archer wasn't capable of killing Shirou. Even until last few seconds of his existence, Archer could have killed Shirou, but when the dust settled. When a stream of blood escaping his chest, he won. Archer won this battle, just as must as Shirou did.
Omega Fighter I simply love how much details they give to this series as a whole. There's so much missed if you only watch one of the stories or only watch stuff once.
Urinal I know right?! Would you have guessed Shirou being capable,at one point, of "defeating" Saber alter, in a one on one battle by watching or reading only the Unlimited Blade Works Route. I mean he doesn't kill her, but he defeats her. Unless he has rider help then Saber dies. Plus there are characters that are introduced sorta in the beginning, but just disappear in.. well all path ways. Characters are just kinda forgotten about.
2:10 "The winner takes control of the bladeworks." You can't fight over a Reality Marble. That's not how it works. That line isn't remotely accurate... yet for some reason I like it. I really like it. 5:33 *snrk* I want to say that is horrible dialog for Shiou to say and that's it's vastly inferior to the sub... if it wasn't so in-character for him to say stupid shit like that.
"the winner takes control of the bladeworks"... The heroic spirit, shirou emiya. The line isn't bad. The winner lives to see the Grail war through, if only for a bit, becoming the true Shirou emiya. Be it the result of his failed ideals or the embodiment of those ideals, emiya will then be the only one in the world with the unlimited bladeworks. Shirou was fighting to overcome Archer and Archer was fighting to put down Shirou. It was more of a declaration of resolve.
Well since the reality marble is Emiya’s Shirou could take control of it - they’re the same spiritual existence. It happens in the UBW anime. Not sure about the VN though. Although it probably is just supposed to sound cool.
When Sam Riegel was still Shirou, people bitched about his performance. When he was replaced by Bryce Papenrbook, everyone bitches about that and demands he return, which isn't his choice. If he does return for the Heaven's Feel movie, people would bitch about his Shirou more than ever, just like they did with Mela Lee's Rin. Am I right, or am I right?
I like Sam Riegel's Shirou. Bryce is okay, but he doesn't fit the character, like he was in Attack on Titan. But with everything, especially anime dubs, those being negative always speak louder than those being positive. Because a lot of people enjoy being assholes.
+MajorLeagueGamer838 I like Bryce Papenbrook, but the one thing I'm concerned about is his yelling. It's not that he does it too much, it's more so it's too high. I think when people yell, their voice goes up in frequency and it doesn't sound like someone turning up the volume. His scream against gleam eyes in SAO is one example. But he's a good actor. I'm sad Sam isn't coming back, but I have my hopes.
+BioZero216 I always liked Sam because Sam fit shirou But oh my god Bryce ruined the dub outright for me Liam not being there makes me sad too but atleast the person they used was alright for the character
Archer- *"Your life is a fantasy, you can't save everything!"* Shirou- *"Your wrong and I'm right!!!"* Archer- *"Ok... you win."* That's what I felt about this fight. If this movie was another 2hrs long, then they could have flesh it out more.
Why cant I find the ufotable version of this fight on youtube? :( I prefer the depth of that version SO much more! There are a lot of points in there I want to hear again but can't find.
Sorry Shirou but Archer is absolutely right about you. It kind of sucks that Archer lost to be honest, because Shirou is wrong while the show seems to hammer that Shirou is right when he's so annoyingly naive and arrogant over his ideals. Archer IS Emiya, thus he naturally knows what awaits him and his ultimate betrayal. If anything Shirou thinks he can save everyone, yet it's painfully obivous he can't. He acts like some fariy tale hero, unable to face a plain reality. He's a child.
in the original Fate route shirou becomes the hero he sought and lived for 300 years ultimately becoming the last true hero, thus his ranked Rose from normal people and which is why he was able to enter Avalon a place where True Heros slumber. and which is the only reason I hate all the other routes cuz they suck balls, almost a plot where I don't give a damn about the Main character cuz he's being a di*k and love interest are annoying as f***
@@DragonForceAnimeReviews not even close. He's an antagonist, not a villain. They're two different things. But by hero/villain standards, he's an Anti-Hero
My original favorite fight was kirei vs kiritsugu because of the power and struggles they had as individuals. However I admire this fight much more because it was the quarrel of the pre destined hero and the tragic future he wants to change
Definitely one of my favorite two Anime fights ever, with the other one being Kiritsugu vs Kirei. I've watched Shounen Anime all my life, but these two fights top all of those fights imo.
1:14-1:17 Saber says you killed people? I SERIOUSLY doubt that's what the real translation is. Hell in FSN there are flash backs of saber on top of mountain of bodies that she killed. Saber acting like killing people is something new.
She's suprised that Shirou, in the future, would take someone's life without a second thought. Since, in case you didn't understand, Archer is Emiya Shirou.
I was so looking forward to this fight in the adaptation's dub.......then the new Archer opened his mouth.....and I got really really fucking sad, but then I somewhat was ok with it..............then I heard Kirito open his mouth and I flipped a fucking table Is it weird I enjoy this fight dubbed rather than the dubbed TV version?
+TheDeathWombat Where is this episode from?! It's not from the original fate stay/night, or Ufotable's unlimited blade works. Is there another unlimited blade works?
I think the newer fight’s dub was fine. Sure Shirou is voiced by Kirito, so what? I think he did his job (and Archer’s VA as well) and portrayed the character to t best of their ability. TBH the lines in the old dub half the time made no sense like “I don’t care if my body is made of swords!” or a better example of lines like an “EPic Spirit EMIYA”... the dialogue was not very accurate to the source material in DEEN.
they're both great fights but nothing tops the VNs fight scene for me in this one Shirou doesn't actually give any counter arguments he's just like "Nuh uh, Archer you're wrong and i'm right." while in Ufotable they didn't add the last fight outside of UBW and they both didn't add the part where Shirou was so damaged that he barely was able to breathe or speak but still kept going
Brian did great as archer, lots of emotion but after growing up with him as the voice of Gaara from Naruto it just feels weird to me hearing him as archer 😅
I think the fact here is that both voice actors match up well in this. You can see Archer as an older version based on the voices. However the new voice actors do not match.
actually Archer used too much mana using the blade work so many times before fight shirou and he has no master since Caster gone so he couldnt recover his mana and a servent without a master shouldnt be able to even materialize himself in real world but he could do that even without a master using his own mana so Archer probably was the servant with most powerful mana in this war of the grail .
He actually had a trait that let him act without a master's mana, lvl B if i recall right, that traits name is independent action. Gilgamesh had that trait but lvl A+.
Welp I can't get into the Japanese voices of Fate other than Shiro and Archer really (Archer cause he's Daiki Aomine and I love that voice). Knowing that Saber sounds like Celty Sturluson and Raine Sage in English made her that damn cooler. I love Kari Wahlgren and Michelle Ruff both but Kari's voice fits her so well I can't really accept anything else lol Also, I feel like Troy Baker would play a perfect Archer, but I won't complain about Liam O'Brien doing it. And I'm glad you aren't just bagging on something cause you prefer something else. RUclips needs more people like you.
I feel really badly over the fact that I can't remember his name at the moment, however, if any of you have watched Naruto, Archer is voiced by the guy that did Gaara.
AznHoboOVER9000 his new dub is definitely better than the original. Funnily enough the guy who voices him here (Grant George) plays Lancer in Fate Zero. His new voice in Zero and UBW is the original voice for Assassin in FSN.
He wanted to lose... The blade works can only have one master, and the title can only be taken by force. So he baited his past self into killing him so he can be free.
+mackybell14 The description of the English dub makes no sense. UBW is a Reality Marble, a manifestation of one's soul that forces the outer world and inner world to switch position. There isn't a single owner, as Shirou and Archer are already two different people with their inner world having a different landscape and ideal. Archer planned to kill Shirou, but the fight between them wasn't about clashes of swords and projections, but of ideals. One who will never regret his path and desires the happiness of everyone, the other who became a hero by killing thousands to save thousands of thousands and in the end became bitter about his choice. It is a battle of will and the first one to falter in determination loses. Archer, even if weakened due to using too much prana without a Master, is still far stronger than a human and Shirou barely matched him. The reason Archer lost at the end was because upon seeing Shirou's eyes, the will of never giving up and the determination he had upon receiving Kiritsugu's ideals during a certain night, he remembered the pure emotions he possessed at that time and how he promised himself that as long as he believed in himself, he wouldn't fall in despair despite the paradox of saving everyone. Shirou, differently from Archer, has never given up about his ideals and has thus won the battle of wills. Archer falters despite his advantage in the battle. At a point, Shirou loses his skills acquired by close contact with his future self and reverts to his normal ones. His attacks are reckless, his movements slow and his skills mediocre, but the ideal he holds in himself is the strongest. Archer sees that and loses against Emiya Shirou.

Characters are just kinda forgotten about.
shirou had the stats and abilities of archer when he beat saber alter
2:10 "The winner takes control of the bladeworks." You can't fight over a Reality Marble. That's not how it works. That line isn't remotely accurate... yet for some reason I like it. I really like it.
5:33 *snrk* I want to say that is horrible dialog for Shiou to say and that's it's vastly inferior to the sub... if it wasn't so in-character for him to say stupid shit like that.
the dub is a meme xD
I miss the original VA for dub. They were pretty good.
It's weird hearing the original English dub version after watching the abridged version
3:47 the best part begins
Any one knew that’s the same voice as Donatello (TMNT 2003)?
+BioZero216
I always liked Sam because Sam fit shirou
But oh my god Bryce ruined the dub outright for me
Liam not being there makes me sad too but atleast the person they used was alright for the character
+BioZero216 All I ask for is that Liam O'brien returns as Archer EMIYA
+BioZero216 i liked fate/stay night better in japanese but i prefer fate/zero in english.
Archer- *"Your life is a fantasy, you can't save everything!"*
Shirou- *"Your wrong and I'm right!!!"*
Archer- *"Ok... you win."*
That's what I felt about this fight.
If this movie was another 2hrs long, then they could have flesh it out more.
the Ufotable adaptation did it WAY better
Archer's voice acting is really good, and it is even more incredible if compared to shirou's shitty voice.
Its cause that voice is Liam O Brien, who voiced Gaara in Naruto and Asura in Asura's wrath. He's pretty damn good for what he's voiced.
TheRunedEXP
He's also Illidan Stormrage.
REALLY?! I never would have guessed. That's awesome
There's nothing wrong with Sam Riegel's Shirou. It fits the character very well.
BioZero216 No it doesn't, and you know it,
So much hype this scene ! Emiya vs Archer ! I will always remember this
Man, Liam was a beast as Archer but I guess Kaiji's version wasn't so bad either.
Why cant I find the ufotable version of this fight on youtube? :(
I prefer the depth of that version SO much more!
Archer let himself lose to Shirou.
in the original Fate route shirou becomes the hero he sought and lived for 300 years ultimately becoming the last true hero, thus his ranked Rose from normal people and which is why he was able to enter Avalon a place where True Heros slumber. and which is the only reason I hate all the other routes cuz they suck balls, almost a plot where I don't give a damn about the Main character cuz he's being a di*k and love interest are annoying as f***
Liam O'Brien is hands down the best voice actor for villains
His voice is one of the highlights of an otherwise mediocre-bad dub.
maca673 i would call it an awful dub to be honest
shirou's voice makes me want to cry and gil just seems so far from King of Heroes
Archer's a villain??
@@DragonForceAnimeReviews not even close. He's an antagonist, not a villain. They're two different things. But by hero/villain standards, he's an Anti-Hero
My original favorite fight was kirei vs kiritsugu because of the power and struggles they had as individuals. However I admire this fight much more because it was the quarrel of the pre destined hero and the tragic future he wants to change
Just wait for the UFOTABLE version.
I think this is one of my favorite Anime fights.
what do you think of the ufotable adaptation?
is that yusuke uremashi voice actor as shirou
The only reason to pick Deen over Ufotable is Archer's dubbed voice.
Definitely one of my favorite two Anime fights ever, with the other one being Kiritsugu vs Kirei. I've watched Shounen Anime all my life, but these two fights top all of those fights imo.
what about to ufotable adaptation though?
@@trapova2483 That one IMO had too much redundancy, talking about the same shit over and over again, so much so that it sucks out the tension.
1:14-1:17 Saber says you killed people?
I SERIOUSLY doubt that's what the real translation is. Hell in FSN there are flash backs of saber on top of mountain of bodies that she killed. Saber acting like killing people is something new.
I'm pretty sure she is surprised that he killed people, not that to the fact killing people is surprising.
She's suprised that Shirou, in the future, would take someone's life without a second thought.
Since, in case you didn't understand, Archer is Emiya Shirou.
I was so looking forward to this fight in the adaptation's dub.......then the new Archer opened his mouth.....and I got really really fucking sad, but then I somewhat was ok with it..............then I heard Kirito open his mouth and I flipped a fucking table
Is it weird I enjoy this fight dubbed rather than the dubbed TV version?
+TheDeathWombat Where is this episode from?! It's not from the original fate stay/night, or Ufotable's unlimited blade works. Is there another unlimited blade works?
the movie made by the people who made the original FSN anime. this was rushed to, but I still love the hell out of this fight
I sort of cut myself due to kirito coming out of shirou's mouth
I think the newer fight’s dub was fine. Sure Shirou is voiced by Kirito, so what? I think he did his job (and Archer’s VA as well) and portrayed the character to t best of their ability. TBH the lines in the old dub half the time made no sense like “I don’t care if my body is made of swords!” or a better example of lines like an “EPic Spirit EMIYA”... the dialogue was not very accurate to the source material in DEEN.
its really interesting the future you trying to prevent the old you from doing something but the future you got beaten by the old you huh...
This is obviously the Deen animation and honestly I'm kinda impressed. Also the va for archer in this route does pretty good in this scene
ufotable might it done a better if not fantastic job at UBW but i still think this fight scene is WAY better then the one ufotable did in 2014.
they're both great fights but nothing tops the VNs fight scene for me
in this one
Shirou doesn't actually give any counter arguments
he's just like "Nuh uh, Archer you're wrong and i'm right."
while in Ufotable they didn't add the last fight outside of UBW
and they both didn't add the part where Shirou was so damaged that he barely was able to breathe
or speak
but still kept going
3:07 what!? the dub didnt even leave subs here? what a shotty product
Brian did great as archer, lots of emotion but after growing up with him as the voice of Gaara from Naruto it just feels weird to me hearing him as archer 😅
I think the fact here is that both voice actors match up well in this. You can see Archer as an older version based on the voices. However the new voice actors do not match.
me fighting the person ruining my life
The subtitles around 2:16 shall never be forgotten.
I'm The Bone Of My Sword
Steel il my body and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to life.
+Dragon knigth omega nor know to death
+Liam James unlimited blade works
I only just realized Archer and Kain Highwind in Dissidia Final Fantasy have the same voice actor.
Also that main protag dude in Ergo Proxy (can't remember his name)
Grimoire Weiss from Nier too. At least, I think so.
There is nothing wrong with the dialogue, the inflection, or Gilgamesh. You're just throwing a tantrum because it's English and not Japanese.
Oohh so this is from the movie
actually Archer used too much mana using the blade work so many times before fight shirou and he has no master since Caster gone so he couldnt recover his mana and a servent without a master shouldnt be able to even materialize himself in real world but he could do that even without a master using his own mana so Archer probably was the servant with most powerful mana in this war of the grail .
He actually had a trait that let him act without a master's mana, lvl B if i recall right, that traits name is independent action. Gilgamesh had that trait but lvl A+.
Also I love how Archer tells Shirou that his swordsmanship is nowhere close to his, but compared to Sabers swordsmanship your both trash
I can't decide who I like more as archer
O'Brien
or Tang
no way, .. Gilgamesh sounds like a punk...
they all sounded good exept for the best character in the show... WTF
Admittedly I don't think ANY voice fits Gilgamesh apart from Tomokazu Seki's. I see Gilgamesh and that voice just instantly springs to mind
Aaron Archer David Vincent's delivery in Fate/Zero's dub is brilliant though
Welp I can't get into the Japanese voices of Fate other than Shiro and Archer really (Archer cause he's Daiki Aomine and I love that voice). Knowing that Saber sounds like Celty Sturluson and Raine Sage in English made her that damn cooler. I love Kari Wahlgren and Michelle Ruff both but Kari's voice fits her so well I can't really accept anything else lol
Also, I feel like Troy Baker would play a perfect Archer, but I won't complain about Liam O'Brien doing it.
And I'm glad you aren't just bagging on something cause you prefer something else. RUclips needs more people like you.
2:24 That beef.....
I feel really badly over the fact that I can't remember his name at the moment, however, if any of you have watched Naruto, Archer is voiced by the guy that did Gaara.
+Sim's With Friends Liam O'Brien
Thank you, I feel badly when I don't remember the names of voice actors.
I hate to say it because I love Liam O’Brien, but I have to say that I prefer the new voice for Archer. It feels more fitting to me.
This is old school shit
So anyone else think this shirou is the archer in rings route seeing as here he's using archers weapons but archers not
Saber's voice actor is the same as rukia. That is funny.
Archer could have killed himself pretty easily if he tried 😂😂
Better than the new one
Fate UBW, one of my best Fight Scenes, compare to first Series in 2006,, thats all,,😄
5:04 I love archer man and saber so cute
The dub was fine but then suddenly, Gilgamesh
AznHoboOVER9000 his new dub is definitely better than the original. Funnily enough the guy who voices him here (Grant George) plays Lancer in Fate Zero.
His new voice in Zero and UBW is the original voice for Assassin in FSN.
huh the captions are very weird indeed
Govorish Recke can you upload the full fight of shirou vs gilgamesh from unlimited blade works movie in english dub?
how weak must archer have been to lose to a human
He wanted to lose...
The blade works can only have one master, and the title can only be taken by force.
So he baited his past self into killing him so he can be free.
+mackybell14
The description of the English dub makes no sense.
Archer sees that and loses against Emiya Shirou.
oh hey Yasuo is actually a heroic spirit, who knew
Despite this adaptation being pretty mediocre the voice acting in this dub was very good
Recke Can you reload this video in higher-quality please ?
I'm not asking you to delete this video I'm just asking if you can upload another one but with higher quality.
***** I agree i like archer's voice in this as well
"epic spirit" *Facepalm* no that's not the bloody term
Deen-Childrens version
Ufotable-Adult version.
I am the Bone of my Sword
*RiGtH wIlL aLwAyS dEfEaTs WrOnG*
I choked when I heard Gligameshs voice. Fuck, it's so weird and out of place X,,D my god. He sounds like Jaden from Yugioh GX X"""D Gilgamesh doesn't sound like a douche, but rather he sounds like a hyped up generic main character X""D
If only they had david Vincent back then
in this Saber's voice actor is Kate Higgins right ??
someone tell Me
where can I download the 480p or the 720p version ?
Oh god, they mangled the dialogue... and the voice actors get the inflection wrong... and WTF DID THEY DO TO GILGAMESH?!?
This movie been up to 8 years because this shit is old as fuck
what version is this? I found someone a different version with archer having a different voice actor
DEEN version. It's from the Fate movie in 2010
Archer was Illidan Stormrage all this time??
Can someone help me? I am searching for the peom archer said before opening his world in french
The story of this is 100% better than the fate stay night UBW2015. They kinda make these part looks kinda redundant and somewhat pretentious.
The English dub isn't that terrible but I really prefer the Japanese version
The voice acting is great, but the script is awful.
I have to say, Archer's VA was pretty good here.
Too bad Shirou's VA consistently sucks in every work he voices.
