The bees analogy is a good one. I recognise the same buying strategies in my own life. You have an unusual outlook on stationery, but I like it very much. Thank you for sharing.
Good advice! Always love a good excuse to browse stationary.. most of the time I don't need anything and don't end up buying anything. It's just feeds my soul to be in that environment :)
I also stock upon items I find to check all my boxes and I get that scarcity feeling of what if I can't buy any more of it so I limit myself to 3 if I can afford it, for example there is a pencil I know has sold out, looked for it on 3 online stores and probably payed more 🥲 than its value, but I know the pencils will serve me for about 2 years so I have time to lookup for a replacement. There are just some things we want the way we like, my stationary and my coffee 😂
Who knew that a stationary channel would also be a place to learn about bees? Haha, thank u for the video, it put a smile on my face. I always feel it is a good idea to have back ups, no question. Trying to find that balance can be challenging, but these are some good tips. Cheers!
I wish I were this disciplined. I am attracted to newness, and get bored with the same kind of thing, even if it works really well. I have enough Dixon Ticonderoga black-on-black pencils to last my lifetime, and I love everything about them, but I just HAD to try Blackwing after watching your videos. (I also love them.) Now my pencils will outlive me. 😊
@BlankFirstPage This video really resonated with me, especially your particular nature and the bit about the bees. I’ve been meaning to ask: is the Kaweco black ink cartridge for the Liliput dark black? I’m looking to go back to a ballpoint pocket pen. Because I’m used to gel pens, everything I’ve found so far has been a dull black. Also, I’m curious about what you use the Byline/Front Page Field Notes for. Same as the regular notebooks? Thanks for sharing your stationery thoughts!
Thanks for watching! The blank ink cartridge is pretty black, but not a dark deep black like you get in a gel pen. On paper it just looks like a fine Bic standard pen line. But it’s good quality ink, I have had it out with me and lying in the sun on very hot days and it doesn’t gum up or anything. The byline notebooks I’ve used only for work so far. They are a great ‘quick note’ notebook, which is most of what my notes look like for work. That, and work to do lists, which can get quite long and the extra long and narrow page of the byline is super convenient for that!
Hello Lukas. New subscriber here from the UK. I really enjoy watching your videos. Your explanations are calm and precise and this video will remind me to be mindful when buying pencils in future. But I'm hopelessly addicted to stationery along with my wife. We have way too many pencils, fountain pens, ink, and notebooks. Have you tried the Tombow MONO100 pencil as a possible alternative to the Blackwing? They are great quality pencils.
Hi! Thanks for watching and subscribing! There is no such thing as too many pencils, fountain pens, ink and notebooks, there is only spare stock. I have not tried the Tombow, thank you for the tip and I'll have to get me some. They look fantastic too, all black, perfect!
I feel much happier classifying them as 'spare stock'. In fact, I've now used this term as a justification to my better half for including more stationery items on my Christmas list! Just aside, my favourite pencil is the Mitsubishi 9850 (HB grade). I hope you enjoy the MONO100. @@BlankFirstPage
Hah! If I knew where to get 6 more I'd keep them for myself! They're scotch and soda from a couple of seasons ago. Couldn't find them again. Very disappointing.

Just being around it is 70% of the enjoyment.
Thank you so much for permission to keep shopping for the potentially next best thing! 😆❤❤
Welcome :)

Stationery and coffee - excellent pairing too.

Hard to beat the Blackwings! I've never tried the Dixons you mention, might have to stock up...
😂😂I can soooo relate to having pencils (and pens) to last my lifetime several times over.
Never. Too many. Pencils.
Thanks bees.
They are very helpful. Thanks for watching!
My brother keeps bees, he would like your analogy here😆 As always, love your videos!
Thank you! Your brother has a dangerous job! But I bet he eats a lot of delicious honey.
Thanks so much for this video!!!

@@andyg7210 Also adding the Mitsubishi 9850 to my list - thank you!
Do you prefer the tactile use of graphite or the smooth writing of fountain pen for general note taking?
It does vary and I go through phases but I think if I had to choose I would go pencil for general note taking.
@@BlankFirstPage And lastly, for general note taking, do you prefer a gel or ball pen or pencil?
@@matthewhayes9734 Pencil if I can, ball pen if I'm traveling because I don't like carrying around a sharpener.
👋
Who makes your shirt? I want six of them.
