THIS is why _Angel_ (the series) should have run another two seasons, much like _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ did. Oh my gosh. The chemistry with these two characters is just fantastic. I wish there had been more on-screen time with these two. They act like they hate each other, but if you guys remember the last episode, take note of who was first to agree to Angel's secret plan. I think when push came to shove, they had each others back. And how fitting...since they're basically each others shadow selves. Actually, it's not unlike Faith and Buffy in that regard.
Mouse You can make the argument that they both are family to one another due to their Sire Line. At the end of the day, Spike would follow Angel into the grandest fight ever.
I agree and disagree, I've always thought of them as brothers they are from the same Vampire family, and our bounded by blood, in season 2 of Buffy Spike refers to Angel as his Yoda, and Drew refers to Angel and Darla as a family term. Angel the older brother Spike the younger one, with Buffy it's the and Drew its the you have I want sydrym. Angel had her first and then Spike. He killed two slayer to prove he was better than Angel and Darla. They both love and hate each other. Angel feels protected of Spike and Spike feel he has to anno Angel.
I always love those little moments that show that deep, deep down, Spike and Angel do respect each other (after all, in a way, they're the closest thing to family that either of them have). Like Angel admitting that he liked Spike's poetry. Or Spike telling Illyria that he would know if Angel had gone evil. Another subtle detail from the final episode: during the final attack on the Circle of the Black Thorn, Angel gives each of the team members a different objective. Spike is sent to rescue a baby that was being held by a group of demons. That might seem like the least important objective, but think about it for a minute: what Angel is actually saying there is that out of all of his team, Spike is the one he trusts to get an innocent bystander out safely.
The season is saved by Spike and his chemistry with Angel. And it seems like a perfect season to me, we have an Angel in command of his enemy, without Buffy, without Cordelia, without Connor. And he has as support Spike who reminds him of his past sins. A full-fledged buddy movie, the problem is that the season does not give much, that is to say, it is in command of Wolf and? But it could have been Joss smarter for example - Get Xander in a couple of episodes. - Instead of going to visit Droyggin then put Wilow in. - If in the girl in question they had put Buffy it would have been the icing on the cake that instead of inventing the Immortal who would have married and started a family.

But spike practically became a vampire cause no one liked his poems and for Angel to say something that he liked his poems when he was human, its just wow ( cause spike thought every one hated him as human, but angel was like I liked ya) I think spike is soo emotionally damage that he cant take a compliment. Well,the books were great,just that the movies did them no justice whatsoever with the tragic casting choices 🤦🏻♀️ What were they thinking? Glad that I read the trilogy before seeing the movies. But BTVS & Angel will,for me anyway,always be the best in their genre and,a brilliant cast of actors.

Angel embodies a higher social status. he's the upper crust bully that looks down on spike. the Irony is that spike is better than angel in almost every way. when he was mortal he looked after his mother and he just wanted to be good and respected. he was a bad poet but a good man. meanwhile Angel was being lazy; binge drinking and partying. When he became a vampire Spike did things that Angel wasn't able to do. He killed two slayers and he risked his life to earn his soul. he had no soul and yet he still felt bad for what he did to buffy. after he got his soul he sacrificed himself to save the scoobies and defeat the first. Spike has had to constantly prove himself every step of the way. to Dru, Angel, Buffy and especially to himself

Angel when he was human was a drunk and womanizer, that does not mean he's a bad person, he was partying, being partying does not mean being bad people, getting along with his father because he was a strict and severe man. But we do not know what the relationship with his sister and his mother was like. We also do not really know what he was doing. I mean, William was a poet, but Liam, who was, what he was doing besides partying. When they were demons angelus is evil, a bad Hannibal-style lecter, cruel, sadistic and refined, spike was more elementary, his way of evil was to nail things. I think Angelus could kill the hunters, if it was not for them it is because it is not imprudent, all the actions that controls, controls all situations, when it is angelus the way to attack their friends is based on psychological torture , do not throw punches. spike went for his soul not because he wanted to be a good person but because he wanted to conquer buffy. Besides, Angelus mocked the beast, made fun of the judge that they are stronger than a hunter. Spike with soul or without it is the same being. Angel, if you take away the soul, it becomes his antithesis.
Both angel and spike influenced the life of buffy. I think if Angelus wished he would have killed those 2 hunters just that he did not do it because he does not like the risks he likes being the one who dominates the situation, he likes more than killing inflicting damage. Angelus is hanibal lecter cold, calculating, cultured, sophisticated. Remember that when he was in that cage he mentally destroyed his companions. Causing fights and causing the group to separate. Spike is limited to hitting and little else. It's buffalo bill. The key of the affection of buffy to angel is not only because it is the first love, but because with him he never had a relationship with all the letters of the word because of his curse. With Riley and Spike, yes. With riley she was affection, demonstration that she needs a dark being, I believe that both riley and spike buffy care for her.
The soul is more important in angel than in spike, since it represents the line that differentiates angel from angelus, from good to evil. In addition, Angel in his series is worse than the holy job.

Who else would love to see a Buffy/Vampire Diaries crossover where Angel and Stefan are having a competition to which one of them can out-brood the other while perfecting their hero-hair with their nancy-boy hair-bell while Spike and Damon Damon are looking on alternating between comparing notes and mocking Angel and Stefan.
