Oh go.... yep. Cool game for the first few hours, and then it's more annoying then anything, was so looking forward to it too. I was so letdown lol. Like it felt good, but actually going full out trying to get a good time, just frustrating. But maybe I had to turn on traction control and stuff.

Dirt rally is overrated. The physics are good but not that realistic. The steering is horrible. No precision in center steering (its like the steering on an old farm yard tractor) and the force feedback is bad, so bad that muscle memory never ever really kicks in, even after many, many repeated attempts at one stage. The cars behave like theyre weightless. On loose surface rally stages real rally drivers use the foot brake to shift weight forward and over steer into the bends. Because the cars in Dirt behave like theyre weightless that action is none existent, hence why youre required to use the hand brake so much, even on fast bends.

This setup pays for itself lol. His videos seem to get 1mill + views each for most of them. This video with 3.4m views probably made him 2-3k easy. Assuming hes monetized it that is. He has a total of 16million video views which he should be getting like $1 per 1000 views or more which would be around 16k? Setup probably cost less than 5k i imagine.

Playing games like these with a G27 ( ETS2, TDU2, Dirt, City Car driving,Asetto Corsa) actually require you to drive like in real life ( foot on break before going to 1st, clutch when you change gear etc ) or are just wheels so you can steer in game and change the gear with a gear shifter instead of pressing Shift?
Abra Cadabra ill bet money he is not a real driver. one of the very first things you learn is not to wrap your thumb around the wheel. unlike in video games, in real life, when your wheel catches something it will rip the steering wheel out of your hand, and break your thumb if its wrapped around like this guy. hes a good driver in the game, no doubt. but he doesnt drive in real life

all good, i probly misunderstood lol. im part of the drifting world, to me there is no such thing as 'proper' or whatever, but i agree on the thumb thing. in real life you dont have time or the ability to use your thumb when driving like that, it takes too long to seat your hand on the wheel. there is very few cars in the world in which you have no need to remove you hand from the wheel to go lock to lock, so there is always a bit of hand over hand when driving quickly with oversteer involved.
so i'd say it would be much more the fact its a computer steering wheel with no much rotation lock to lock as well as the fact its a small wheel and there isn't true resistance and feeling like a real car, so you would steer in an unnatural way.
id love to see him attempt it in real life just to see if he could pull it off lol. you do learn a shitload about car physics even from a computer game like this.
oh i know! games like forza and such have come such a long way in such a short time! its crazy! but yes, in most driving sports you really dont have time to wrap your hand around, but because of my experience i dont even wrap my hand around when im cruising down the road. but i do a lot of rally cross style racing, and a lot of off road racing. for safety reasons, ive never gotten the habit of wrapping my thumb. and i really would like to see this guy drive in real life. he would either adapt really quick, and be good, or he would fail miserably. maybe sooner or later ill upload some footage of me driving. problem is, i ship off for bootcamp in a week and dont really have much spare time

they come seperate, the speedometer is called SPI-D (Complete) and the gear indicator is called GI-MAX

***** Racing Simulators are arcade compared to driving a real car. No sim can ever compare to driving a real car. Every driving game ever created is just that, a game!
AESCULAPTORmark3 The Dirt developer even says that the game is for kids and entertainment only not advancing your driving skills. A silumator on the other hand have no restriction on how hard the game becomes the only important feature is that the "game" is as realistic as possible. That is what makes "games" like rFactor and iRacing simulators and arcadegames like Forza, GT, Dirt arcadegames.

T0BBi94 r-factor and i-racing can teach you absolutely sod all about how to handle a real car. They are all just games. Yeah the physics in some games may be a bit more realistic than some other games out there, but none the less you are sat in your home on a computer playing games, and that will not teach you a thing about driving real cars fast, for obvious reasons.
I learned everything i know about handling a real car by driving one, i learned nothing about driving a real car by being sat in a chair at home playing Richard Burns rally. All the so called "real" sim racing games you speak of have no immersion at all. That was why i said in my original comment that this "Looks" very real. It has immersion and a really loose feel that does remind me of what its like throwing a real car about. Many sim's are way to tight and much more difficult than it actually is to drive a real car. There are never enough variables in games that try to simulate driving a real car, plus obviously its all just virtual (not real) so If something isn't real how can it be like reality? (it can't). I am a big fan of Richard burns rally but if you think that is what its like to drive a real rally car then you are sorely mistaken mate.
There is a difference in physics between Richard burns rally and this game, but playing either game would teach you nothing about driving a real rally car.
Oh and by the way! playing i-racing and r-factor is not to advance your driving skills. Its for entertainment only just like this game, Forza, and GT. You say there are no restrictions on how hard a racing sim can be made, but that is irrelevant as no computer can simulate the endless variables of real life.
With regards to driving a real car, i could play this game or i racing and both games would teach me the same thing about driving a real car...(NOTHING)
AESCULAPTORmark3 Flying simulators and driving simulators have been used in professional settings. A simulator can teach you how to drive a car, you just need a sophisticated enough simulator to do so.
AESCULAPTORmark3 You can obviously not create a simulator that replicates the reality perfectly... But as Christopher said simulators are used by professional drivers to learn new tracks and keep up their skills while off season. This must mean that simulators like iRacing and rFactor give you Some skill in real racing!
When Greger Huttu drove the Star Mazda for the first time on a track he had only played on the computer he did laptimes matching the actual racers times after just one day, before that he had only driven racing simulators!
But I guess that was just luck... Because you cant learn anything from simulators (Stupid!)..

The physics of dirt just doesn't look right to me.
They're probably not super accurate but these gymkhana/tarmac rally cars usually look pretty comical in real life due to the high power output, extremely short gear ratios, 4wd and high grip.
Dirt 2 was way better than dirt 3. *my opinion*

Secondly you probably would not give all that money for that but who cares it s not your hobby. for someone that likes that kinda stuff its well worth it, and to be fair mr montonyu has done a good job here.
Finally about the bike thing... i mean man yea ofcourse you would prefer the track day but its highly expensive and lets not forget the fact that the odds are 50/50 with your life at stake whereas in the sim version you can do it for fun, go over the limit and crash with no bad expectations.

well yes dirt 3 is a game, its not very realistic and not worth 3k, but if youre an actual driver and have the true simulators like iracing, nascar 2003, richard burns rally, gtr2, etc. then its totally worth the money to have that real feeling and be able to fine tune your skills since you cant really afford to go testing the $100k car that you dont have the money to repair all the time, its 100% worth it. but for just someone looking to play games for fun, 200 bucks for a simple wheel is sufficient.
