In most cases, the artist in DnB is the producer/dj and vocals/instruments are usually samples or session singers hired to compile that specific track High Contrast is one guy from Cardiff, UK
Jump up in the last few years has kinda been reminding me of when dubstep started turning into that heavy dirty EDM-style 'transformer' music, sacrificing flow for aggressive noises
Yeah man! As some one who grew up listening to jungle/dnb since 1995, and began mixing vinyl in 2004 jump up used to be a whole different style and indeed over the years what used to be called jump up morphed down into what would now be called liquid and the jump up genre has taken on more of a dark tech/dub step style. As a prominent jump up dj back in the day I would only play a couple of jump up tunes now. It’s definitely not the same.
Yes you're too right on that, I think it's more like when dubstep was about, I love liquid dnb and dnb in general, been to loads of raves, warning, liquicity and more love it haha
I have found over the past few years that neurofunk/neuropunk d&b is pretty dark and dirty jump up like the old days worth looking into if you’re an old school jumper upper
Great to see you get to High Contrast. Fyi it's 1 guy who's is the producer, the singer is Diane Charlamagne probably most well known for featuring the garage track by MJ Cole - Be Sincere. Soo there is a vocal sample in this track but also original lyrics. The main 'If we ever get out of here' is original I think, the high pitched but that extends and says something like 'dont make a sound' that's a sample.
The Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guinea (High Contrast Mix) Get on it lads. Love a bit of liquid dnb. BTW High contrast is a DJ and Producer from Wales.
I'm absolutely loving you guys exploring all types of Dnb and jungle. a couple of tune suggestions - Newer tunes: Sully - 5ives - ruclips.net/video/J5eBw_HlzMM/видео.html Halogenix - Independent - ruclips.net/video/GIXV7MmjjEU/видео.html Clipz - Down 4 (Myth's gully mix) - ruclips.net/video/fJwciXMW5oI/видео.html and for older stuff; Congo Natty - Junglist - ruclips.net/video/QL4GQ5H0lkc/видео.html Dbridge - True Romance - ruclips.net/video/FNXBv3JycDg/видео.html Shy FX - Feelings - ruclips.net/video/icXkuVxJStY/видео.html Also this documentray might answer a lot of the questions you have about the genre: Drum & Bass: The Movement - A D&B Documentary ruclips.net/video/j8fu_TOKlg4/видео.html
Great recommendations especially the Doc, they covered some good aspects of the scene. Watching some of the Docs about the Pirate Radio / Towerblock days are great too.
Always good to see you guys diggin in the UK. High Contrast is one of my favourite liquid producers, just the one guy but works with session musicians and vocalists. Diane Chsrlemagne on vocals in this tracK (RIP). I saw High Contrast playing with a live band a few years ago, it was incredible!
I remember running 20 miles during my university days with high contrast true colours album as my soundtrack. I was 260 lbs and even though my knees where shot this soundtrack kept me running through the pain and this track was always reserved for my last mile. The adrenaline and nostalgia it produces still gives me drive to carry on running.
Absolute classic this one boys!! Love watching your guys videos, I can tell how much you both really just love discovering new music of all genres! And as a side note, I feel like people don’t talk enough about your insane work output! Every time I log into RUclips there are always like 3 new videos for me to check out! Keep up the good work! Love from the UK 🔥
As a younger man we’d be on a couple cheeky pills up all night with High Contrast…..as a middle aged man now…give me a sunny afternoon, bbq, bottle of rum and some High Contrast. Absolute timeless tunes from a master at work.
Lets gooooooooooooooo! This song is the shit. Also yeah liquid dnb is pretty badass, some bachelors of science or london elektricity. I mean i listen to more older stuff 10+ years but the new stuff aint bad its just more modern maybe even minimal? Again not that its bad, its just different times, regardless dnb for life! It can suit nearly any mood. Love that yall are incorporating more of it into your channel though thank you so much seriously. Also not sure if anyone else feels this way, but i always thought a beautiful thing about drum and bass is usually everyone hears something different on first listen, or latches onto something specific that they are enjoying. It could be the hook the background rhythms a certain vocal hook, the bass or even just the drum beat because of the certain samples that are used. Whatever it is, its unique to your experience and that shit will change even listening to the same songs. Its beautiful, aiight nuff said :P
The artist in most electronic music is usually the producer and DJ (Same person) with the vocals being either a guest vocalist or sampled from somewhere. There are groups that have their own vocalists, but in most cases it's a solo artist with guest/sampled vocalists.
Its so crazy watching you react to tunes like this. 20 years ago it was underground in the UK, a sub culture probably. It's brilliant music, i'm happy more are experiencing it, but you can;t return to the time when we were travelling the country every weekend to experience it
Love you guys taking an interest in our DnB scene 🔥 It’s been evolving for decades and I’ve been lucky enough to witness it since 1990. There’s so much to look into over the years, but to keep it interesting to you with vocals/ bars, check out the following vocal tracks over the years: 1) Hotness by origin unknown & Dynamite MC. 2) Mo Fire - Bad Company UK. 3) Count to ten - Enei ft DRS 4) Dawn of a Dark Day - Black Sun Empire & Foreign Beggars 5) The Calling VIP - Tech itch 6) All I Know- Pythius 7) Twin Galaxies - Shapeshifter The Upbeats remix Much love and respect from the UK 🫡👊
This takes me back. I used to rinse liquid d'n'b throughout uni -- great for studying. If you like this, you have a massive catalog to explore from Hospital Records alone. Great production values and super catchy melodies.
Loving the DNB direction! Some requests I think you'd love: Shy FX - Everyday Shy FX & T Power - Mercy Tessela - Hackney Parrot (Special Request VIP) Cassius - I
I always find that DnB (along with Trance, Deep House and various other electro dance music) is perfect for snowboarding to. The patterns always help me to navigate my runs without getting distracted with huge lyrical content that you'd find in other musical genres. So, in that sense, what you mentioned about it being perfect work out/homework music is very true. The brain moves in sync with such patterns. Has anybody thrown up Andy C - Bodyrock yet as an important tune to get to? That one was a game changer, all of a sudden people were saying 'what, you mean you can slow DnB beats right down to that tempo on a track??'.
If you guys like the intelligence of this sort of dnb, I'd recommend you check Omni Trio and/or the Moving Shadow label. They really pushed this stuff in the 90's in the UK and it had a profound effect on Jungle and Hardcore.
Recommendation for one of the greatest D&B tracks ever made: Renegade Snares by Omni Trio. The ORIGINAL mix. Most know the commercially more popular Foul Play remix, but in my opinion the shape and movement of the snares of the original was unsurpassed at the time, and the melodies throughout are fucking beautiful.
The tragedy is that some of the best mixes recorded are on low quality c90 cassette tapes. Theyre available online but quality is too low for react vids. But thats how we conumed it in the 90's.
High Contrast - top tier. Omni Trio are pioneers of the genre (omni trio - renegade snares Foul Play VIP Remix) . If you like them also check out Logistics - Slow Motion in particular.
I never thought id fond this as reaction video wtf 😂 UK DNB IS GOD TIER Liquid DNB is such a chill vibe my favour type of DNB by a long way. High contrast, Bcee , Calibre, Hybrid Minds, Bukem... man i could go on for days BIG UP THE UK MUSIC SCENE . Might be bias but the best in the world bar none . 😅
High Contrast? I’m impressed. The dive into dnb for you guys is still young but as Americans this is a nice way to spread the search. Someone steered you in a good direction. High contrast goes back.
Sometimes it's samples, some other times they're also vocalists (or hire someone to sing) and there are even a few Drum n Bass actual bands (the most famous is Pendulum and i recommend it).
I've made a few DnB beats. DnB is so fire that my shit can be half cooked and it's already sounding so good I just don't know where to go with it, how to add that extra flourish. Brain can't keep up.
Please check out "High Contrast - Basement track". It's a classic. Melodic and a sick baseline. And maybe "Dbridge - True romance" and "Grooverider - Where is Jack the Ripper"
after over 20 years of listening to dnb Liquid is my current favourite. Pretty much all i listen to now. High contrast has done some awesome remixes if you want to go down that rabbit hole.
I wonder if you guys would give Neuro a listen. It's another subgenre of D&B, but much darker. A good one is... Bad Company - The Nine This tune was massive in the UK.
Well done lads. Finding the good stuff on the regular 👍 If you like the liquid dnb vibes as well check London Elektricity (owner of Hospital Records) doing it live at the Jazz Cafe. Drum n bass played live even the beats. Absolute 🔥
IMO Hybrid Minds have been the best and most consistent in releasing liquid DNB tracks, check out anything by them, im personally a big fan of Hybrid Minds - Fingerprints Ft. Grace Grundy, love you guys checking out DNB though, such a great genre. Also for more High Contrast I always loved High Contrast - Kiss kiss bang bang.
Old skool jump up was great cos it was so diverse. Nowadays it’s really bass orientated. Liquid has always been more eclectic. Check out Noisia. They cover everything on their albums.
You have DJs that cut dubs but also some of the biggest producers are simply producers and mad with the buttons. Some also DJ or perform at events/raves.
I think I may be more gassed than you boys for you seeing Chase & Status. You will have a ball of a time. If you haven't already checked it out, Chase & Status remix of Original Nuttah by UK Appache & Shy FX is 🔥🔥🔥
It's funny you guys keep mentioning old school video games in your dnb reactions. Playstation 1 & 2, Nintendo 64, and early Xbox games had heaps of dnb in their game soundtracks. There are some great compilations on YT.
Check out Calibre. Excellent producer. Slums or Overreaction recommended. Alix Perez too, anything off the 1984 album. Or Cyantific - Outatime pt.2 or Ghettoblaster. Great tunes
i cannot express how happy i am you guys are digging so deep into the UK sounds
Respect to whoever is requesting these songs, keep these dnb reactions coming you're getting the very best, feel proud from the UK watching this 😅🔥
High contrast hometown glory ….high contrast kaleidoscope….hybrid minds lost …hybrid minds kismet….hybrid minds touch all liquid all tunes
the hometown glory remix is phenomenal
In most cases, the artist in DnB is the producer/dj and vocals/instruments are usually samples or session singers hired to compile that specific track
High Contrast is one guy from Cardiff, UK
I absolutely love liquid, I think Jump Up has become to hardcore over recent years for casual listening, whereas liquid has always stayed chill
Jump up in the last few years has kinda been reminding me of when dubstep started turning into that heavy dirty EDM-style 'transformer' music, sacrificing flow for aggressive noises
Jump-up has become squeaky borderline dubstep nonsense. I can only take a few mins of it.
Diane is most known for Inner City Life by Goldie, actually, which they've already reacted to.
RIP Diane 🥲
@@kalystoThat too yes both great tracks!
calibre bullets feat diane charlamange.
Brilliantly explained x
Have a look at LTJ Bukem lads, especially with MC Conrad (R.I.P.). One of the originators of intelligent D&B. One love from Scotland. 💙
Yeah, they should react to "Golden Girl - Makoto"
« Words 2b heard meets the western » by Mc Conrad & PFM. Great great old skool tune..
Pfm the Western, mc conrad vocal mix.
Each new day brings new chances for new beginnings, the horizon leans forward offering space to pace new steps of change
Yeah man Bukem - Atlantis.
The Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guinea (High Contrast Mix) Get on it lads. Love a bit of liquid dnb. BTW High contrast is a DJ and Producer from Wales.

Man I remember bumping this in my lowered VW Polo from the 6x9s mounted in the MDF parcel shelf when I was young lol
As a younger man we’d be on a couple cheeky pills up all night with High Contrast…..as a middle aged man now…give me a sunny afternoon, bbq, bottle of rum and some High Contrast. Absolute timeless tunes from a master at work.

It’s been evolving for decades and I’ve been lucky enough to witness it since 1990.
There’s so much to look into over the years, but to keep it interesting to you with vocals/ bars, check out the following vocal tracks over the years:

I’m so stoked you two are doing DnB! This is classic for sure!
I always find that DnB (along with Trance, Deep House and various other electro dance music) is perfect for snowboarding to. You're finally ready for this classic from LTJ Bukem's seminal album Logical Progression: PFM - Dannys Song
Fellas, you are doing gods work. The memories listening to these tracks the last few days, brings it all back. What a tune. 💪
Another classic, DnB is forever and only gets better the more you listen to it.
High contrast is one Welsh dude 🙂
15+ years ago I saw him live at Cardiff university great hall for a Hospitality records night and loved liquid dnb ever since.
Ah, the memories… spent many a day/night raving in a field at a festival to this track! I would absolutely love to see you react to a dnb rave!
I love how I've seen you guys go from calling it fast dubstep, to knowing the difference between jump up and liquid. Keep em coming ❤
A timeless classic. It also got remixed by another producer called ‘Unglued’ it’s a bit heavier. You should check it out!
I went to hospitality in the sun (Croatia) a memory never to be forgotten ❤
High contrast and calibre - Mr majestic
Big choon
Yes bro more high contrast
Rolling baselines are 100% 90s drum n bass!!! I was there bro!!!
Anthing by Calibre, especially liquid beats
Netsky was signed to hospital records !! He was the king of liquid for a good while !!
THEYVE FOUND HOSPITAL GUYS!!! TBIS AINT A DRILLL!!!! BANGERSSS INCOMINGGGG!!!!!

Big tune back in 2006/07 summer :)
I see Hospital records and it makes me think of the Hospital records radio channel in Forza Horizon. The only channel to listen to 😂
High Contrast? I’m impressed. The dive into dnb for you guys is still young but as Americans this is a nice way to spread the search. Someone steered you in a good direction. High contrast goes back.
I love this channel. I love drum n bass.
“Touch” by Hybrid Minds is probably the most iconic Liquid DmB track
He created the anthem for the 2012 Olympics Stage walk
Sometimes it's samples, some other times they're also vocalists (or hire someone to sing) and there are even a few Drum n Bass actual bands (the most famous is Pendulum and i recommend it).
Concord Dawn - The Drill🔥🔥🔥
You guys need to review the unglued remix to this. It absolutely slaps. ❤
Omg this song reminds me of my teenage years, such a banger! Pleeease react to shy fx - feelings

Yes guys! Love watching you dig back through the DnB back catalogue. Check out: Shy FX and T Power - Everyday feat Top Cat
I've made a few DnB beats. DnB is so fire that my shit can be half cooked and it's already sounding so good I just don't know where to go with it, how to add that extra flourish. Brain can't keep up.
Please listen to the unglued remix of this! It is a more hype version but its so good!
Listsn to this song but the Unglued Remix, i think this is the best version, and probably has more views / plays highly recommend
Please check out "High Contrast - Basement track". It's a classic. Melodic and a sick baseline. And maybe "Dbridge - True romance" and "Grooverider - Where is Jack the Ripper"
He’s from my hometown Cardiff 🙌🏼

Well done lads. Finding the good stuff on the regular 👍
If you like the liquid dnb vibes as well check London Elektricity (owner of Hospital Records) doing it live at the Jazz Cafe. Drum n bass played live even the beats. Absolute 🔥
I've added this to my playlist now - great track!
Lads, Danny Byrd - Get on it, paired with a lovely Tripel Karmeleit
IMO Hybrid Minds have been the best and most consistent in releasing liquid DNB tracks, check out anything by them, im personally a big fan of Hybrid Minds - Fingerprints Ft.
Own this beauty on vinyl, banger of a tune
Also try: logistics - together. Congo natty - junglist (ft. Peter bouncer).
Lots of old school jungle vibes in this one
High Contrast produces the track in a studio with a vocalist, or he samples it.
Liquid dnb my favorite perfect background music.
I think I may be more gassed than you boys for you seeing Chase & Status. You will have a ball of a time. If you haven't already checked it out, Chase & Status remix of Original Nuttah by UK Appache & Shy FX is 🔥🔥🔥
A liquid classic. Fair play guys. Keep her lit
It's funny you guys keep mentioning old school video games in your dnb reactions. Playstation 1 & 2, Nintendo 64, and early Xbox games had heaps of dnb in their game soundtracks. There are some great compilations on YT.
Another fire track is Calibre & High Contrast - Mr Majestic 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Huge part of growing up this one ❤

Anything by High Contrast or Logistics will be a great example of liquid
Finally getting into some of the other DNB legends!
If you're going to dig into dnb you need to listen to the western-pfm. One of the best tracks ever
