I was 15. Sid came to Philadelphia and stayed at the hotel my father was the chef at. He had handlers all around him and I couldn’t believe how huge he was.

Sids 1996 Survivor Series entrance at MSG still to this day is one of my favorite big match entrances I've ever seen. The vibe was awesome and hbk losing made it sweeter.

When Sid was coming to the ring, he started yelling at a fan “Whose the man! Whose the man!” And the fan was point at Sid saying “Youre the man!! Youre the man!!”
Sid never really even needed a buildup. He could come in, do an intense promo, and then be in the main event and who the hell wouldn’t believe that. Sid just had a presence that most wrestlers just cannot match.

First time I seen Strowman was after he'd finished up the Wyatt stuff and I immediately turned to the other people in the room and said this guy definitely has a Psycho Sid vibe, completely believable. True to form WWE have tanked that poor bastards career as well.

I got into WWF/E between 1991 and 2004. I only really started following again in 2011 when CM Punk did his pipe bomb. Since then I drift in and out. It's so cool to hear about the stuff we grew up on. Scary when you realise how long ago it is.

Wow, so wrestling ripped off Lord Humongous AND the Road Warriors.
Amazing that a guy who main evented 2 Wrestlemanias, held 4 World Titles, and competed against most of the top superstars of the 80s and 90s could still be such an underachiever; it just shows you how much potential Sid had. Nevertheless, he is still one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Great podcast again
I'm a fan of Sid myself. I think honestly he got overshadowed by taker. If Sid woulda stayed loyal to one side or the other during that era, and been more dedicated, I think he'd have been a major player...

At the 1:30:00 mark they talk about Sid being the replacement for Warrior in Pittsburgh and Detroit. I was at the show in Pittsburgh. I was so pissed when the ring announcer announced at the beginning of the show The Warrior would not be appearing. Then when it came time for that match, when Sid walked out, the place went ape shit!! It was deafening.
Sid's one of my favorites. Actually started VHS taping during his first run in WWF. Still got the tapes! Thanks for the show.
Really enjoying this one. Always thought Sid was awesome and never gets the credit he deserves. Here's another guy that I hope gets into the hall of Fame some day, and some day soon!

Im a huge fan of professional wrestling, have been since early childhood but my father despises it however the one wrestler he would watch was Sid. That is the best compliment I could give Sid, he made a man who hated wrestling with a passion want to watch a wrestling match.
People can say what they want about Sid but he was Over in every promotion he performed in and won titles and made a lot of money in wrestling and retired with his health and a few quid in the bank. He certainly couldn't have really had half a brain!!!!

I know people shit on the wild card match from survivor series 95, but as a 9 year old newly minted wrestling fan of only 5 months I loved it, and I still enjoy that match today.

@@Levimischief69 - Too many people who were there (Scorpio, Vader, Bill Dundee, etc) have said that Sid said Flair was too old and should let the younger guys have their time, Arn got pissed, threw a beer bottle at Sid and then went to his room. Sid went to Arn's room (some say he had a chair with him, some say he had a chair leg) and was banging on Arn's door to fight him for throwing the beer bottle. Arn opened the door and stabbed Sid with the scissors. Sid beat the shit out of Arn, then realized he was stabbed and got the scissors and stabbed Arn a few times. Had they been arrested and it went to trial, Arn would be the one in trouble for starting the fight and for using the scissors first.

Something that I had wondered about Sid Justice's WWF run.
I had read this in The Detroit News when they would have a Friday Wrestling Column by ML Curly (Not real name). Before Sid had the arm injury, During the run to Survivor Series, a tentative plan was that Hogan was going to lose the Title at Survivor Series to Undertaker (Which he did)
Sid was going to win the Survivor Series Match against the Jake Robert's team. At the end of the show because of the way Undertake would win the title President Tunney would announce that on "This Tuesday in Texas" that "Justice would be served" and have Sid challenge and win the Title from Undertaker.
Let's say that was the original plan before Sid's injury. We could have went to Royal Rumble with Sid vs. Flair, with Flair winning the Title. Hogan winning the Royal Rumble, setting up the Hogan vs. Flair match. And also having a rematch of Sid vs. Undertaker. What are your thoughts Conrad and Bruce and listeners of the show of that scenario?
Sid says that Vince promised him the main event at WrestleMania (obviously vs Hogan) in order to get him to come in.

I was at MSG for Survivor Series when Sid power bombed Shawn Michaels for the belt.. I was 9 years old and I was so upset when I left that building cause I was a big HBK fan haha man those were the days. I was also at Summerslam at the old Continental Airlines Arena (which isn’t even around anymore) when Owen Hart broke Stone Cold’s neck. I was a huge wrestling fan back then but those were the only 2 live matches I’ve ever been at. Crazy isn’t it.
Austin Idol, Lord Humongous, Action Mike Jackson, and Pistol Pez Whatley were the shit to me in the 80s, I remember when they used to put the posters on the telephone poles in town...sounds like I'm old but I'm just 34 lol

Man Sid at survivor series 96 was over like fucking rover. Shawn Michael's was supposed to be the baby face and sid even used a camera to give jose a heart attack and the fans still cheered sid. They were absolutely mental for him in 96, loved it when he embraced Vlad the superman after his winning of the title too cause he knew who he was.

I first took notice of Sid in 1991 or early 1992. Almost got to see him live at an Indie show about ten years ago, but he no-showed the event.
Another stupid thing when they were trying to turn Sid Heel w the Hulk angle in early 92 in that SNME Sid & Hulk in the tag match there’s a promo backstage pre match and Hogan as always won’t shut up and you see Sid waiting to talk and as he’s about to finally say something Mean Gene says they’re out of time and Hogan’s already walked off. He looks like he’s gonna go crazy and he should! How the fuck is HE the bad guy here?! But the Rumble shit was horrible, no way can defend that booking, especially if you look how in previous years Rumbles Hogan eliminated not only other babyfaces but mates of his who he was in storyline friends with like Savage & Tugboat.
Shawn vs. Sid at Survivor Series was a babyface match, Sid wasn't a heel.

I know this isn't even close to the topic here, but I would love to here Bruce talk about Big John Studd. Maybe talk about the 1989 Royal Rumble, and what lead to Big John winning it. I've looked all over RUclips for stories on John, but there isn't very many at all. And, I've listened to a lot of your podcast, and I've never really heard you mention him. Love to hear some stories about him and Andre's feud, and the reason he left WWE twice.

He was one of the most believable characters in the dying days of WCW. And no, his best match wasn't with Shawn or Bret. It was with Chris Benoit.
The 1992 Rumble was the best, agree the ending could have been better but in the whole it's fantastic storytelling. Then the face off with Hogan and Sid and there is a close up of Hogan when he hears the crowd reaction and I've always thought it's the realisation that his era is over.

54:30 Hogan/Flair may have been a better match than Hogan/Justice, but that would've robbed us of the Savage/Flair match that was a better match than any of the above. I agree however that Hogan/Justice was a stinker, and was only saved by the HUGE crowd reaction that Ultimate Warrior got for his return.

I also was very puzzled by Hogan pulling Sid out. In the context of the Royal Rumble match, Sid did NOTHING wrong in the way he eliminated Hogan. It's every man for himself. If you can dump a guy over who is distracted, it's not your fault he's distracted. And you all may not remember, but live, the crowd clearly took Sid's side on this.

Sid Eudy, Sycho Sid, is a person who left his mark in the business that is for sure. What surprised me was that even though Bruce said Sid was a pain in the ass, he worked 3 different stints for the WWF. I thought Sid looked out of place too in the million dollar corporation. Sid cut great promos that is for sure. Like Conrad my favorite was the one prior to face Shawn at Royal RUmble 1997. Shawn was such a pain in the ass during 1997. He was so scared to face Bret Hart again at Wrestlemania 13 yet Sid lost the WWF Championship to Shawn and got it back 3 weeks later. He should be in the hall of fame by now.

Then my hero, Hulk Hogan, basically acted like a bitch and helped pull Sid out. Interesting how this was about the time I started to become disillusioned with wrestling until the start of the nWo in WCW.

i don't know anything about the background of warriors father son relationship(if I followed correctly and not sid) but to me it sounded like you pushed away his fathers passing as something not of a big deal because they were estranged seemed kind of wrong to me.

I agree because I was one of those cheering for Sid. I hated Shawn Michaels at the time. Everybody had got sick of the pretty boy champ formula. His presence was catered more toward the females. Sid. brought the man's man blue collar attitude back to wrestling that people at the time wanted. Steve Austin witness this and was smart enough to capitalize on it.
