I know some handbuilders that use that stuff to make templates for their pieces. They roll or rib their template onto the slab, cut out around it, and then leave the tar paper on until after they have assembled the piece and that way it give support as they are working on it. Once they have the form assembled, they peel it off. Never thought of using it as a slab mat too, thanks for sharing!
Hey everyone, hope this tip helps! This could be very handy for anyone who usually works in a community studio who's working from home right now, but it's also useful in pottery studios. I use this in my own studio. Stay well friends!
Thank you for your helpful videos. I am trying this clever method out this morning : ) Do you have a video showing how you finish off the bottom of the piece after removing the felt/paper?
I was hoping to see you use it to roll out a slab. I'm curious as to how well it peels from the clay slab? Being waterproof what keeps the clay from sticking to the mat instead of releasing as happens with absorbent mats.
Thank you! Great tip! I just tried it and works like a charm! I especially like the probability and that the rolls take up such little space. Stay well.
Hi Janis, I got some used felt paper from the roofers in our neighbourhood....he was unsure why I didn't want the newer material with stick on capabilities. Have cut out the forms to use when hand building a box . I watched this video this morning and thought you would enjoy this amazing human being if you have not yet seen him. Great place to be taken too. ruclips.net/video/xa0v0pT9flo/видео.html

Hi 😊 Does anyone know what this would be called in the UK, please? I cannot find such a smooth paper/felt anywhere 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you x

Thank you for the tips 🤗
What a great tip! Thank you so much for sharing! The environment will also be happy from being prevented from tons of plastic used instead.

Another woman uses linoleum. I am considering edpm, bathroom underlay for showers.
