So pretty!! I used to have an authentic hanbok when I was very young. My mom is from Seoul and as I get older I am more interested in my heritage. Sadly my mom left Korea without speaking to her father (mother was deceased). Over 40 years and they have never spoken.
Erica Kachner Sorry if it was confusing, first you sew the neck part, then the bottomedge. Then flip the linning right side out. Place the jacket so it looks finished except for the sleeves. Pin how you want the sleeves to be, ie. right sides together. Then through the opening in the sleeve, fish/pull out the wrist opening. You can then sew the seam and pull it out.
I have already done that in this and another video. I recommend buying a pattern(you can find it on ebay) That way you make less mistakes and there are written instructions too.
I think the point is only for the short Jeogori. I've seen others that don't end in a point but the jackets were longer. So a waist size jacket or a mid thigh size doesn't have the point. Good job! makes me want to make my own. Thanks!
Very happy I found this! This may sound weird but my friend and me are super interested in Korean fashion and every thing so I'm going to make her a Hanbok as a gift! But after we're done (may sound alittle weird) we're going to make some dancing videos together, in the Hanbok and a Yukata!
I'm currently working on a Hanbok. Its a Goth/Punk made of sugar skulls on black and a black bodice and the sleeves are black and hot pink striped. If my mother was still alive she would flip out. I do plan on making a traditonal one as well.
Hi Sasa, new subscriber! I came cuz i was tryin to find a pattern for the jeogori. Did u buy or create your pattern? Butterick had pattern b4539 but its out of print. I too am obsessed with all things korean (my father lives there) and want another hanbok but i cant find the color combo i want so i fig ill make it. Also i want some jeogoris to wear over t-shirts n jeans! I think thatll be such a cute look and itll get people talking about korean culture when they ask me, what are you wearing?!!
any chance you would have them done by september? because I would love to be able to make a hanbok for my final exam in textiles at school and yours turned out so perfect!^^ xxx
hey could you tell me where you bought the material or cloth for the jeogori and chima or if its not bought what material should i buy and how do i cut it thanks i would really appreciate if you could reply asap thank you so much 😀😀
can i use cotton materials? is there a shiny fabric that perfect for hanbok but not a warm material, because its not perfect if i used warm material in my town ( my town is hot )
I'll be cosplaying palanquin d.va and I went and bought all my fabric already before I realised I have no experience making my own patterns and I can't find any online would your pattern work for her top??
+Rita Wen mmm That's a good question... It uses quite a bit of fabric since the sleeves/vest part doesn't have an armhole. It also depends on the design, the amount of contrast and/or stripes. I would say at least 2.5 meters (maybe more/less) I can't recall now.
+LadySasa1000 Oh okay! Would you just follow a normal pattern and make adjustments to your body size, because I have no prior knowledge to sewing so I have no idea how big each piece should be. Thank you so much!
+Rita Wen Mmm I don't recommend a hanbok if it's your first time sewing. It might be too difficult and you may give up. There are many beginner patterns you can find at your local fabric store.
Hi there, I really like the hanbok videos you posted, they are so helpful! I would really like to get my hands on your pattern for this top. I noticed you mentioned you were planning on listing it for sale on your blog - is it available for purchase? If not, do you have any pointers for making my own pattern? Thanks much!
That is modern style in hanboks. My mother who has made real traditional hanboks taught me the fact that the flap is to the right. I draw, so I like to get every detail right in clothing for my characters right. The flap is a little detail that is commonly ignored. like buttons on shirts is either on the left or right of men or women's dress shirts. a common ignored little detail.
Wow! I love this. Do you have a pattern I can work off from? I love Korean culture! I can't get enough of it. You are very talented. Please keep up the good work. I love your videos
Thank you :D If you check my facebook page you can see me with a jeogori top and non-traditional little skirt. I love jeogori they are so pretty :) I made this pattern myself from tracing the existing jeogori top I had. I also consulted a korean hanbok history book.

Thanks! Sorry to hear about that. Same with me, as I became older I got more interested in my background as well.
omg i have been dying to have a hanbok for a while now .... thankyou soooo much sasa .... love you
Can you please show how you attached the lining to the jacket. I'm making a hanbok now but the sleeve hole you mentioned isn't working for me.

laramis Yes, there are different styles, I've seen many different variations. You can chose the best style you like :)
using this video again for my second attempt!
What fabric did you use for the lining?
Hello! Could you tell me the length of the arms and the jacket piece? I'm not sure exactly how long to cut it, thank you!
Will you have a pattern for sale soon? I know I can manage the chima (thanks to your video) but I'm really nervous to do the jeogori.
Very happy I found this! This may sound weird but my friend and me are super interested in Korean fashion and every thing so I'm going to make her a Hanbok as a gift! But after we're done (may sound alittle weird) we're going to make some dancing videos together, in the Hanbok and a Yukata!
No, it's not weird at all! I love dressing up and taking pictures with friends :D
Thanks again for the awesome tutorial!!

Sounds like a fun project!
@@_Sasa_Time I think it will be a blast. Am really looking forward to doing it.

Where can I find the patter for the jeogori ????

Do we have to use silky material to make this top? Or do you have any other alternatives?
No, you can use something more matte. Cotton, taffeta, crepe, satin are other options.
what kind of fabric material did you used? i want to know.
hey could you tell me where you bought the material or cloth for the jeogori and chima or if its not bought what material should i buy and how do i cut it thanks i would really appreciate if you could reply asap thank you so much 😀😀
You can use: organza, tafetta, satin, thick crepe.
You mean the Korean hanbok top that is longer in the front and back? Yes I am planning to do that in the future.
can you upload how to make design of hanbok jeogori and chima.? how to cut it? and how to sew it?
can i use cotton materials? is there a shiny fabric that perfect for hanbok but not a warm material, because its not perfect if i used warm material in my town ( my town is hot )
You can use organza, it is a lightweight fabric. Cotton is fine too.
I'll be cosplaying palanquin d.va and I went and bought all my fabric already before I realised I have no experience making my own patterns and I can't find any online would your pattern work for her top??
Yes the general shape is the same. However, you will need more seam allowances to make the stripes on the sleeves.
Could you try to find out how to make a princess top
Hey, I wanted to ask how much fabric did you have to use to make the whole jeogori?
+Rita Wen mmm That's a good question... It uses quite a bit of fabric since the sleeves/vest part doesn't have an armhole. It also depends on the design, the amount of contrast and/or stripes. I would say at least 2.5 meters (maybe more/less) I can't recall now.

I am still perfecting this pattern, but once it's done I will be selling my patterns through my blog (for pretty cheap mainly the postage costs)
I know this is super late, but is there any way I could get the pattern?

The flap is wrong... Women's Front flap of jacket is right in front...Men's flap of jacket is left in front.
Sketch 'n Doddle it’s left over right for everyone regardless of gender, except for the dead. They dress dead people right over left
