Hey man, great video! I adore Sade!! So coast to coast LA to Chicago is commonly thought of as a mistake but NY to LA then off to Chicago is how it makes sense. Regardless it sounds great.
Always nice to meet another Sade fan! Several people have tried to explain that line to me over the years, but it still hits my ear wrong. I love the song dearly, but I almost always smile at the line. And anything that can still make me smile after so many years is no bad thing. Thanks for stopping by!
@@AverageJoeVinyl very true. I can never understand why she isn't even more popular than she is, but that's more than okay. It also could be that she lives in the UK and didn't know here US geography at the time. I got to see her about 7-8 years ago when the last album dropped. Anxiously awaiting the next batch of songs.
Ziggy All American Alien Boy Astral weeks London Calling Blood on the Tracks/Infidels Imperial Bedroom New York by Sweet Lou Exile Kink Kronicles And I played the GROOVES off Breakfast in America! Thanks ! Great list🤘🤘
Some great choices here! Ziggy ALMOST made my top 10. It was probably around #12. Love Exile, Blood on the Tracks, Infidels, London Calling, Astral Weeks, and New York too!
Hi 👋 I'm in my sixties now. I remember Twin Peaks on television and followed the series. David lynch created a good TV show. Have you seen his film titled Eraserhead ?. It came out in the seventies. Very strangle movie filmed all in black & white. I had the soundtrack of Twin Peaks on cassette back in 1990. The Joshua Tree is a classic album by U2. I have a copy of it , and was listening to it recently. I live in New Zealand and the song One Tree Hill was released off the album only here, because it's about the mountain in Auckland called One Tree Hill. 🌳 It topped our pop charts in 1987. Good top 10.
Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, I love Eraserhead (and pretty much all of David Lynch’s work). Good trivia about One Tree Hill! I never knew what it had been written about. Thanks so much for stopping by!
I loved this! So here is my personal top ten (sticking to albums only) and in no particular order: 1. Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet 2. Quiet Village by Les Baxter 3. Kind of Blue by Miles Davis (I know, a little cliche to include this one but I only discovered it in the last 25 years or so and it's just so damn good.) 4. A Love Supreme by John Coltrane (Another cliche and another even more recent discovery for me. My love for jazz has really developed in the last 10 years or so after bubbling under the surface for many years.) 5. Out of the Blue by ELO (Pure nostalgia here, I received this as a confirmation gift from my parents back in 1978. My dad wanted to buy me a bible or a pen set and said I would never keep it nor remember what gift it was for but he eventually gave in. Well, I left the catholic church in 1990 and quit identifying as a christian in 2014. I purged many of my records back in 2002. But this record? Still in my collection and I still listen it to regularly.) 6. Selling England by the Pound by Genesis (This escaped that purge.) 7. Tales of Mystery and Imagination by The Alan Parsons Project (Another that escaped the purge.) 8. R.E.O. T.W.O. by REO Speedwagon (I bought this after Hi Infidelity became a hit and was blown away by how different their sound was in the early 70s. I purged it in 2002 and have since replaced it.) 9. Star Trek: The Motion Picture Soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith (Another record that escaped the purge.) 10. Sinatra at the Sands by Frank Sinatra (One of the greatest live albums of all time...in my humble opinion.)
That’s a great list! If I’d done a too 20 (or maybe even a top 15), Ii would have included your #1, #3, and #7. They were all on my shortlist, along with Coltrane’s “Blue Train.” Thanks so much for watching!
Subscribed!! Great list, looking forward to seeing more of your videos, as for me, all time favorite band is Rush. I agree with you on Genesis, that is one memorable and great album for me too. Btw, greetings from Manila.
I love Rush too, but for some reason they never reached a saturation point for me, which is no doubt why I’m not tired of them today. Glad I’m not the only one who loves that Genesis album. Thanks for watching!
Hi Joe, new to your channel here. I am all in on every album you showed with the exception of Invisible Touch as I prefer earlier Genesis. Cool video complete with a brief intermission. Just subscribed! ✌
Thanks so much. I can’t make an argument that Invisible Touch is an accomplished album, but it sure scratches my nostalgic ‘80s pop itch. Thanks so much for subscribing!
like you, i am a technical writer, but i doubt i could speak with your simple yet eloquent presentation skills. as far as jazz records go, where would you rate The Köln Concert? for me, it’s a definite top ten of any genre
My list, one album per artist Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Deep Purple - Made in Japan Camel - Snow goose Pink Floyd - Animals Neutral Milk Hotel - In the aeroplane over the sea Echo and the Bunnymen - Heaven up here Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes Supertramp - Paris Gang of Four - Entertainment! Sufjan Stevens - Illinois The Sound - From the lions mouth The Waterboys - The whole of the moon Television - Marquee Moon Keith Jarrett - Koln Concert
It's so unhip to admire THE JOSHUA TREE! But I agree with you, it's an enduring masterpiece. The only song I skip is "Bullet the Blue Sky," a (pretentious?) blues song that seems out of place.
Thanks Joe, enjoyed your takes. Dylan’s my guy and I think I’m with you on Bringing It All Back Home. Tough choice however
Yes, very tough! I could easily choose from among ten or more. Thanks for watching
I still listen to "Invisible Touch" sometimes. Good songs & it brings back good memories.
Glad I’m not the only one. It’s a very solid album. Thanks for watching!

Awesome! Thank you very much, and welcome!

Some great records. Twin Peaks started in 1990.
Thanks! I looked it up during editing. Also forgot to give composer Angelo Badalamenti a shoutout for his great music. Appreciate you stopping by!

Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed it.
Songs from the wood my favorite also
Ah, I see you’re also a gentleman of great culture! Thanks for stopping by!

1990 was the year.
Yep. I looked it up while editing, and added a subtitle in post. Thanks for watching.
