Pet Sounds! I found a 1st pressing of the Beach Boys album - #ajvinyl #vinylcommunity

A local(ish) record store just announced that they have an original 1966 Duophonic stereo vinyl pressing of the classic Beach Boys album Pet Sounds for sale! Joe wants to upgrade his copy of Pet Sounds badly. Will he be the first Beach Boys fan to get to the store? Will he have to run other cards off the road like he's in a James Bond movie? Will the record actually be as pristine as described?...

A musical ode to alcoholism! The Budweiser Fight Song - Rare #beachboys Mike Love record #ajvinyl

Joe follows up his video about the super-rare Beach Boys "Surfin/Luau" 45rpm vinyl record with a video about (and a vinyl play of) the equally rare but infinitely more stupid "Budweiser Fight Song" (aka "Be True To Your Bud") by Mike Love and Dean Torrence. It's horrible, but if you've ever wanted to get your drink on with a couple of '60s music legends, you're welcome. Oh, by the way, that sup...

No tipping in Sweden, only at a restaurant when you get good service.
In reallity you can't ever fix them because the warp comes from heat or pressure that expands the vinyl and you cannot shrink it back with more heat all you will do is stretch the rest of the disk and maybe slightly flatten the bump but by then the entire record is distorted. Bottom line is it does not work.
Good vinyl pickups.
The boxset was also outta my price range but I bought the album instead I can live with it I enjoyed the album.
Heat causes the vinyl or whatever the record is to expand that is why the warp happens. You have to shrink it back to fix it and heat will not do that all you may do is stress relieve that area by expanding on the rest of the disc but that will cause its own distortion. So you cant fix that type of warp. Maybe a slight bend can be flattened... maybe.
It's amazing 🕊️💐 old chritsmas sound 🥰
I only heard these albums in the last year on RUclips. On a quest to find these in vintage or antique stores to add to my collection. Could buy them on eBay but I enjoy the search
Música hermosa 😊😊😊
Tipping at a "retail" store? Absolutely NO! My buddy has a great record store and I kbow he would never try to pull this scam on his customers!
All vinyl fans love to see how they can be restored. Good job!
How is this in any way related to KFC? >_> I had assumed it would be the colonel singing, at least.
what happened to you...........?
this sounds great my friend i am thinking about getting that tube preamp aswell
This is the best preamp I own great preamp
I see a lot of reviews for this record pi. I think the real issue I see with this is the price. If I had a toaster and I am telling everyone how awesome it is and then I tell people this toaster on a good day cost $250 the conversation comes to a full stop. They might come over and enjoy my wonderful toast now and again, but they are not going to buy it. My point is I think you might have bought this to be a good friend and that makes you a good person 😀 .
No touching the tubes doesn't cause any damage
What is the over hang for your turntable? How did you adjust that? Did you use a protractor to adjust for stylus tracking error? Did you adjust your weight to about 1.8 gm?
pressure after the proper heat is key while it cools. Some vinyl matrix has a different 'melting' point than other companies.. so yes you have to experiment. Good work, nice single.
I recently bought a lot of records from an estate sale that had the third record signed by him.
It's so unhip to admire THE JOSHUA TREE! But I agree with you, it's an enduring masterpiece. The only song I skip is "Bullet the Blue Sky," a (pretentious?) blues song that seems out of place.
Tipping for buying vinyl ? No way. Our custom is enough
Wonderful! I also pulled the trigger to get this recently. Though mine wasn't sealed but unplayed. I got it for a pretty good price. In hindsight I'm not sure that the album would've been recieved in 1967 the way many fans think it would have. I believe it would have flown over a lot of heads. Sgt Pepper's was more accessible as far as lyrics and song structure for a mainstream audience. That being said, Smile is in my opinion, the pinnacle of what might be termed 'pop' music as far as ambition and creativity, subjective as that is. I'm not hung up on this album not being completed in 1967 because I'm on the same page with Brian about the 2004 solo release of Smile being the finished version. Brian himself prefers that version. I love them both so i'm glad to have them in my collection. Still got my bootleg copy as well.
I thought "How is a Raspberry Pi computer going to restore a record?". That's why I clicked.
Yeah.. Europe stands for - we don't need to pay you.. at least taxed money... Maybe under the radar? oh... Consumers pay you??? GIVE ME THAT!!!
Talk about transformation. Glad the record pi worked.
CHRISTMAS DAY WITH COLONEL SANDERS WAS THE FIRST REAL, NON-KIDDIE, RECORD I HAD AS A CHILD, SO IT'S NOT JUST SPECIAL TO ME, IT SET MY TASTES IN MUSIC TO THIS DAY. l STILL LOVE THE ARTISTS AND SONGS FROM THAT RECORD, ESPECIALLY SIDE 1 (WHICH I PLAYED MOST AS A TODDLER, FOR SOME REASON.) I GUESS I FELL IN LOVE WITH HENRY MANCINI'S MUSIC FROM HIS VERSION OF "THE CHRISTMAS SONG" ON THAT RECORD. I HAVE LOVED AND COLLECTED HIS MUSIC EVER SINCE.
Pretty lame reason in not liking Elvis for not writing songs. Dude, you’re missing alot of great music. 😊😊
I've had mine for over a year now and I have raised the temperature to 135 and I bake for 4-6 hours. Then I let cool overnight with great results. First time seeing your channel and I really enjoyed your review of the RecordPi.
That’s heat damage. If the edge is warped like that, there’s no fix for it.
I had no idea he did this
Looking at that warp me wonder whether it is a serious manufacturing error rather than a warp that has been caused by poor storage over a long period? Anybody who bought records that got caught up in the mountain of mail and packages that accumulated during the COVID pandemic will know that many records that came out of that mountain were hideously warped to the point of being only fit for the dumpster. I fixed a few of those for customers, back to complete flatness. It takes time. I was even amazed myself. It would certainly be worth it to try this record on your device again and again leaving suitable time gaps between cycles. I think much depends on how long the record has been in that state. Long established warps can be very difficult, but not impossible. I have come across brand new records that were pressed at the Pallas plant in Germany that have a raised ridge right through the record, much like a thin ‘speed bump’. Specifically, these records were by Willie Nile and James McMurtry both on the German Blue Rose label and an audiophile reissue of a Mary Black album. Pallas was obviously having serious quality control issues at the time. I have had no success with these records because the defect in question is due to a catastrophic pressing error.
This is great that you appreciate this music, and it's connection to life at the time. I was 9-12 years old when these albums came out. Sadly for me, I wasn't aware that they existed until I ran across this on RUclips today. Our family was very poor and we'd only get KFC perhaps once a year as a special treat. So if a Christmas record at KFC cost even another penny, my Mother wouldn't have bought it. I grew up in Salt Lake which was the site of the first KFC franchise that the Colonel sold. Harmon's Cafe was a successful business in Salt Lake, and a mutual friend put Pete Harmon and Colonel Harlan Sanders together to talk about franchising. Pete's franchise purchase is what got the Colonel going. As a result, Harlan Sanders would come often to visit the Harmon's in Salt Lake, and when he was here, the local TV station would have him as a guest on their talk/news show. He was treated like, and acted like a member of the community. He was always interesting to listen to when they'd talk about his life. He came across as a very nice man that you'd enjoy having around for your grandpa, especially at Christmas. The liner notes sound like just what grandpa Colonel Sanders would say. It's fun to see this YT post and re-live some of those memories. Oh, and Kentucky Fried Chicken today is not as good as it was in 1968. I'm not sure if that's the degradation of the corporate chicken recipe or my perception as a 10 year old getting a very special treat.

I have a Fosi Box X2 which i enjoy but i just purchased this Ampapa. I like that i can adjust bass and treble. I like the LED, adds a nice cool touch to the appearance. I run a AT lp120xusb with the vm95ml cartridge
I have a Pro-Ject Debut turntable without a built-in phono stage, so I connect it to my Cambridge Audio AXD 100D receiver phono stage input, if I buy this Ampapa A1 would I still connect the Ampapa A1 output to the receivers phono stage input, or to another vacant input ? not seen a single video as yet that shows how to complete the connections for best results !
if you ever have the opportunity to buy this framed off of FB marketplace, DO IT

Really great video. I couldn't agree more about the appeal of cd box sets. I have found myself listening to cds more often and the box sets are so well presented, packaged and affordable compared with records. Several years ago, I picked up the "5 Original Albums" box sets of Charlie Haden, The Cranberries, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Cars, Aretha Franklin and The Spinners. Enjoyed watching.
I'm here after reading through Sanders's wikipedia page with my partner to prove that he was, in fact, absolutely a "real ass guy," only to be absolutely floored upon discovering, to explosive laughter, a "Discography" section. Thanks for preserving such a fascinating piece of history in it's original analog, and Sanders, wherever you ended up, here's to you and your courtroom brawls with your own clients, your Cuban Pacification Medal, and your many, many, many instances of being fired for, as was your bread and butter (or gravy, as it were), insubordination.
All stores do this now, it has hardened my resolve against tipping. Once I had a lady working a register tell me to select no tip because the owner just keeps the money. She deserved a tip 😁 BTW, this “scam” is about exploiting the charitable tendencies of Americans as well as the ability to bully most people. It puts pressure on you and you are supposed to feel bad for saying no tip.
Great insight! And unfortunately it works. I do feel bad… though I’m learning to shrug it off a bit.
That's crazy, automatic tip for the record store dude ? I'm at a loss .... where do people get off ?
It's a scam in the SF Bay Area too. I went to Amoeba Records last year and they charged me an additional tax on my album on top of the CA state sales tax. When I asked what the additional tax was, they said it was for the Record shop's staff welfare fund. So basically it was a tip! It was a stealth tax and I think they bank on people not noticing or checking the receipt.
Exactly! It’s extremely sneaky and I don’t even understand how they can legally add that surcharge to the bill without your consent.
I listened mostly to Abba and Bowie when young, now Abba never and Bowie occasionally.
9:55 Doesn't this create an impression onto the grooves? Always been scared of doing this with a heated record
Not that I’ve ever seen. The mats/spacers take the brunt of the heat. Thanks for watching!
Your excellent video has made me wonder if it is the right time for me to purchase the complete Smile Sessions set ! - I particularly love tune X and I don't think it is on any other Smile release, so that alone might be a good reason for me.
Thank you! Yes, if you love the Smile tracks, I can’t recommend this set highly enough. I was just listening to it again this morning, in fact. Thanks for watching!
Customer service is pretty much nonexistent nowadays but everyone expects a tip. I recently tried out one of those robot coffee places, and the robot actually asked me for a tip.
Give it a battery lol
