I have no recollection of the gun world back then, the ban really neutered everything to the point where I just wasn't interested in 90% of what was out there. I do remember the early Colt Special Combat Government's. 1375$ the tag said. Think I paid that plus 1000$ 18 years later for a brand new one that wasn't hard chrome.
I agree with your statement. At one time, Colt had a pretty diversified product selection. From what I have learned so far, the optics program was a combination of rebranded C-More, Leupold and optics from Japan.
