Back to the River! Rock Hunting the Yellowstone for Vibrant Jasper, Agatized Wood, & Montana Agates!

- In this one, we race to beat the rising river in time to find a few last specimens! After our Florida road trip, I had been so busy that I didn't get a chance to get to the river before it started coming up. Knowing my window was closing, we attempted to find one last stretch of bank with exposed gravel. We ended up going WAY farther than I had planned on, but we did end up finding some gorgeous material! Colorful jaspers, petrified and agatized wood, Montana agates, and even one phenomenal Treasure State Agate! It was a much longer journey than I had planned on, but I am happy we got out while we could! The river is considerably lower now, so more river hunts will be coming very soon!

I've started rockhounding after seeing so many of your videos. It took forever for me to get the rocks you find out of my head. We don't have those in Alabama 😂

Guilty admission: I get a kick out of spotting those random pet hairs when I watch your vids (as well as KatyDid's). The rockhounding adventures are primo, but for some reason I look forward to my silly little fur hunting game. I chuckle when I find one and I love it.

OMG! You found some awesome pieces! The river was rising fast and the sun was setting, even faster! But you still managed to find an unbelievable TSA, a gorgeous plume jasper, and that beautiful agatized burl! Not to mention the whole rest of the pretty jaspers and agatized and petrified wood pieces! Those are just amazing! And that little banded agate with the lacey looking fortification banding! That was small but soooo beautiful! Again, no favorites here; there is a best in category from each kind of find, but no best overall! I love them all! Thanks Theo! And "hi" Alexis! Theo that TSA is wild, my fav of the video. I love California, hate what politics has done to a beautiful state, that said, the sunset you showed is definitely beautiful, really shows the big sky state. If I had to move Montana would be my next home. I have been there a couple of times and MT is my favorite state.
Try using a flat lap on that last one to get better previews as to where to cut.

What does #”solicified” mean?
Since it is a beautiful agate as a whole, why not give the Treasure State Agate a complete polish on the whole agate. You could use the cab machine or the wet grinder to end up with a large specimen that retains the all over beauty of the stone, You will probably have to trim (or grind) off some of the bumps. the rock is too pretty to be cut up.
Nice work finding all those beatiful stones. The closed captions on youtube are hilariously bad, they have you cutting 'agonized wood' and 'agonized coral' So: Stop torturing those poor rocks, dude!
