@@Thuursdayy.Well for marathon running, 15km a day is on the low end for volume. Most marathoners average 20 miles a day with 40 mile long runs. But for 5km/10km training, 15km a day is quite sufficient.
Im currently doing 15k every other day at 44 years old. I could do more but Im trying to reduce the risk of injury. So far its been 3 weeks and my knees are hangimg in there. No major pain yet. Im gonna get to 15k a day. I promise.
Back when I was running regularly I would run on average about 100-120km a week Running 42 kms every day for a whole year while working and looking after a family is incredible beyond words Outstanding effort You've inspired me to get off my backside and start running again . Welldone on your resilience and dedication to your cause My wife had stage 4 cancer and has been in remission for 9 years We still have her because of fund raisers like you providing money for research and cancer hospitals all over the world
Absolute mad lad. This is a person who I strive to be. Doing marathon is one thing, but doing it for a year? While raising a million for a good cause AND still going to work? Words cannot describe how insane that was

Everybody in one town in West Cumbria keeps track about the runner and his "running mates" who are on the track of him. They applaud them for going the long distance every single day regardless of the weather throughout the year. Their physical hobby is running for good. And it even runs better if committed for charity. What a record! HALLELUJAH!🏃🏻

Gary is an absolute legend! His selfless heart and indomitable spirit are inspiring to say the least👏🏽 May Mr Bill Arnott rest in peace🙏🏽✨ What a beautiful community! God Bless🙌🏽
"Sometimes I don't really know the best way to help myself, but I always know that trying to help others is the best way to start", didn't think I'd get one of the best quotes ever from a guy who isn't even the video subject in a Great Big Story video.
I think when you are truly in shape for the task, there is not that much repair to be done, but rather refilling energy. So I think he did it by training beforehand and then by sleeping and eating well, I guess. And having insane dedication.

Hello! This is incredible we were just talking about this at work the other day. Thank you for the effort you put into your videos and awesome job Mr. McKee. I was wondering if you would ever consider doing a video on the images they produce for when children go missing at a young age and what they would look like if you saw them today? I was grabbing my paper the other day and say this and got to wondering more about the process for determining the way they would look and if you gave them a picture of yourself young how accurate it would be to how you look today. It also made me wonder how often these pictures are successful and families reunited or how many children are in the database still yet to be found. Also, how are these systems set up across the globe? Thank you for listening to my idea. Wishing the best for everyone!
Not necessarily. Candice Burt just set the world record for most consecutive ultramarathons - 50K+ every day for 200 days. She had many injuries come up but dealt with them as they came (she has a background in massage therapy). James Lawrence first did 50 ironmans in 50 days, and then a few years later did 100 ironmans in 100 days. His book reveals that not only was he injured for almost the entirety of his 50/50/50, but leading up to the event, his coach had him train in an injured state to get his body used to it, because they knew it would be inevitable.
Incredible right?! Gary ran every single day for a year and dedicated each run to his dad.👏Tell us about someone who inspires you and motivates you.❤👇
It's really inspiring how I manage to walk a mile a week
My parents inspire me because with out them I probably wouldn’t be getting As and Bs in high school
Thats nothing. Ricardo Abad ran 607 marathons in 607 days in a row while working 8 hours a day in a factory.
That ain't shit I did way more then that for two years
I did it for 4years I got proof too when ever you need proof
26 miles a day for A YEAR? That is insane dedication. :O
Don't forget the .2. It adds up.
Plus holding down a full-time job.
Serotonin is one hell of a drug
I know people who barely move 26 miles a year
365 marathons in 365 days is insane but doing it while holding a full time job he's a legend
The best kind of madman
Rest in peace to Bill Arnott, I am so glad GBS could get the view of such an amazing event from such an amazing man.
🙌❤
Incredible. I consider myself an intermediate runner doing 15km daily, but after 20 days or so doing it I just need that day off. Respect my man.
15km daily is still nuts man... you're not an intermediate!
lol you must be joking you are running more than david goggins
I have no idea who that is but I can assure you I'm not joking. Plus that is nothing in comparison to marathoners.@@GeznoenMawfacker

Rip to Bill Arnott, the first time I ever saw him and turns out the last time as well.
I raise a cup of tea in your name 🗿☕

So happy to see you guys back telling great big stories.

Congratulation for him, and support from the whole city. Thats just awesome. Damn run 42k every single day in a year. This man on another level

what do you mean he did it quietly?
@@rottebananenknijpen3024 I mean that he didn't go out and tell the world via social media about it to draw attention to himself.
Followed Gary's marathons on Strava in real time last year and it was absolutely baffling to see the count on strava everyday. A champion 🏆

Wow, what an inspirational video! Thank you Great Big Story for sharing McKee's journey!
Gary McKee saddened when his cameraman died. He will continue to run before a different cameraman. McKEEP GOIN'! DON'T STOP!

Thank you for your inspiration!!!!
I am speechless.😮 This is so incredible. All things are possible. 😇
This is a incredible real world story. Thank you for making this video.
Question: how did his body handle all those marathons? Like, did it take time for his feet to get used to his routine, for example.
He's done a lot in the past, he did lots of marathons a couple of years before this. Besides which he's from Cleator Moor, they're a tough lot.
This is just incredible!

A single injury would have ended his streak. Amazing! I wonder what was his running background prior to this challenge?

how is it possible ?? no rest days , no recovery...
You guys should interview Russ Cook. He's doing about 50-60km each day and he's running across Africa.

I hope he makes progress on his base building soon.
My knees hurt thinking about this
good thing he drank a marathon equivalent of beers in miles and not kilometers or we might not have had him around anymore
He has a such powerfull of his endurance🫀
Definitely carrying the boats!!! #Goggins
How many hours did he run to complete each marathon? This is amazing!!
Seeing his Strava it took him about 4 and a half hours every time
i saw your strava..thats insane
What a legend!!
Hokas really the goat
