      Jake, I can tell you that the main reason why the Right is getting stronger in Europe is because of the Woke extremists. People are really starting to get fed up with it. The green parties are big supporters of that group. That's why Green gets hit, and the Right (which is openly against) gains power. It has little or no thing to do with Ukraine. Sadly, people don't understand that this will end up in situations like what happens in the US right now or what has been going on in Russia for a long time. Its not the only reason, but what I hear from people, that's becomming a big concern to them.
      As a side note: Just to be clear, people are nog agains the right for that group to life their lives how they want. Only on how much they force their beliefs upon others.

      I am so stunned about the Hungarians. In the time of the communism, they were the most progressive, liberal, welcoming. A trip to Budapest was like a fresh air in the gray reality. What on earth turned them? My decade long friend in Budapest says its the memory of Treaty of Trianon. They never forgot. They feel raped, excluded, they never forgave, especially they hate the French as the main culprit of this treaty, which costed them close to 2/3 of their territory, and just as many Hungarian speaking people. I think it is wrong approach, it is history. But at the least it explains something.

    • @cattymajiv
      @cattymajiv 4 месяца назад

      @@ronblack7870 I've always been very aware of issues related to Canadian northern sovereignty, but it's true that most Canadians are completely uninformed. Schools and the media both need to cover that much better, because this is a VERY important issue! Russia, the US, and maybe China all intend to challenge our sovereignty over all of the northern islands, and the water between them. They want the North West Passage declared international waters so they won't have to pay tolls to use it, yet it will cost Canada billions of $ to maintain the NWP and provide rescues etc there!
      They're trying to claim that those mostly uninhabitted islands were never Canadian. Even those dirty Americans are pulling this stunt NOW, and have been for a while, but they're trying to begin quietly, because they know that we won't accept it.
      Going way back, Canadian law was practised there because people did forsee this happening. In one example, a pilot whose name I've forgotten was also a priest or judge or something, so he flew couples to every place he could in the extreme north, in a bush plane I think, and performed marriages there. It was well before the 1980s, because I read about it in the 80s, and then they spoke of it as being in the past. He is a huge Canadian hero, because he knew that someday our sovereignty in the far north would rely on the fact that Canadian laws had been practised there. It has been our jurisdiction for a very long time. (I do acknowledge the ownership of the Inuit should supercede Canada's, but in today's world it doesn't.)
      I need to find the exact info on it. There are certainly records on it held somewhere. No doubt they're in the NWT and Yukon Territorial Archives. Even way back then, there were already challenges to our ownership, because the permanent ice was already melting there, and it was obvious that eventually the NWP would become ice free, and maybe half of the traffic from the Panama Canal will want to traverse the NWP.
      The massive amount of traffic created will do massive environmental damage. Remediation of that damage, maintenance of the area for safety, dredging, building of services of various types for ships, rescues of stranded ships and people, with medical personnel and possibly some facilities, and regulation and policing of the traffic through the Passage will cost Canada many billions of dollars. But they think we should just relinquish all claims! NOT A FKN CHANCE MAN! We've already invested many hundreds of millions in today's dollars up there, so there is not a chance in hell that Canada will give up our far northern lands.
      And when the time comes, the rest of the world better support us against those much bigger bullies! If they support the bullies in order to save themselves a few bucks in transit fees, that would be EXACTLY like supporting Russia's theft of part of Ukraine. And in both cases, I guarantee we'll see the same countries supporting the smaller country that's in the right, and exactly the same countries supporting the big bullies. Except that the US will be against us this time, especially the Republicans. We need to do much more to prepare for this.

I hope everyone understands that EU law is above national law, and when people find the immigration problems the most important situation to be dealt with you are forced to vote far right on EU level because over the last 15 years the sitting EU parites did not accomplisch anything re this matter. I suspect that a lot of people don’t get the significance of this. Language is at the heart of culture. The Russians have been using the “Russian language” banned story to gee up support and present a legitimate argument for the SMO, but Russia itself has imposed the Russian language on those countries and territories it has taken using various techniques to ensure it is Russian that becomes the go-to language. The rebel group in Donetsk oblast had started to prohibit Ukrainian children from learning Ukrainian in schools and now that it has been annexed, have removed the Ukrainian language in spoken and written form, using Russian textbooks for Ukranian children. Im pleased to see Latvia taking a stand on Russian language in their own country.

East Germans had been ridiculed, cheated and bullshitted in the unification process. (And the Westerners don't know or don't care.) What is not understandible is, why they rally around an aggressive, lieing totalitarian party, when they made the revolution 1989 to get rid of an aggressive, lieing totalitarian system. All the documentation and blueprints are still kept in Ukraine. Until 2014, when russia annexed Crimea and became an open enemy, Ukrainian specialists were maintaining all the russian ballistic missiles in a working condition. After 2014 - this service has completely stopped of course. And a nuclear warhead need maintenance once per year, which if not done - at some point will 100% cause a radiation leak. So, all 176 nuclear launch sites all around russia will become 176 epicenters of unbelievable environment catastrophy. Not even speaking about the danger of launching these unreliable missiles.

Sometimes it was not even much change - there was a single party with an absolute ruler before, so was after. Compared to this, the de-nazification the Americans, French, & British did in their respective sectors was a much more thorough process. I vastly prefer the Dutch system to the American one. At least here if an extremist gets elected they have to share power with others so they become less extreme.
      Though I would prefer adding some multiple choice like Ireland has. Ireland also has a really good system.

    I have to admit I cried when I heard about the children's publishing house being destroyed. We had a paper back publisher who bought the rights to hardcover children's books and printed them and made simple covers and my parents bought them for and my older brother; he gave me a list of what his interests were so when I ordered I could order what he liked to read. Like I didn't already know. They were like 20 cents apiece whereas the hardcover was a lot more expensive. My parents were immigrants, both have passed away now, and my parents believed that reading was the most important thing to master.
    We see books differently, my older brother and I. They are as precious as gold to me. Some I read, even murder mysteries, to relax and others are on history, foreign policy, the US Government, etc. Books open up the past that we know nothing about, and to how the future might be influenced by the past. I've traveled all over the world by reading good books. Places like the Amazon jungle that I will never travel to but love to read about.
    I take Putin's destruction of a publishing house as petty. I don't know of any other way to describe it. If you hear they are taking up a collection to rebuild the printing house can you put it on your channel. I've searched Twitter or X and various RUclips channels, even FaceBook. I need to check again on FaceBook as that usually takes more time. Thank you Jake for another excellent video. I would love a picture of that Patriot to prove to people that yes they really did that. I think I will do well to retire in Ukraine. I don't fit in here but I might fit in there. I'll give it a try.

    What's strange is Jake Sullivan is someone who have never had even a scratch of defense related background, let alone security or intelligence background. He's a lawyer who did some diplomacy, but pretty much doesn't know anything about national security from defense/intelligence POV, hence his erroneous policy to the war in Ukraine.
