That's definitely correct for our area at least Brian. Our local codes go by universal parking rules which state that basically either combination will work, just so long as there is 16 feet worth of space. Sometimes city, county or state codes can override ADA regulations just so long as those codes are more strict with interpretations. Universal parking is great because it essentially makes every accessible space automatically van accessible as well.

This is great! More videos like this, please. How about a How-To on accessible Restrooms? :)

Doesn't ADA Standards also give us another option for van accessible parking spaces? Instead of 8 ft space with 8 ft aisle, aren't we allowed to have 5 ft aisle and 11 ft parking space, with a total width still 16 ft? My understanding is this 2nd option is preferred as it prevents cars from easily parking in the access aisle.

I need to know the regulations for what type of paint to use and the line configuration for striping an access aisle on asphalt.

My neighbor has these, is she allowed to park two cars, leaving the edge of each car barely touching the signs and has more room then she needs in between?
