- Badge Engineering is when one company makes an agreement with another, and gets to market a car they did not design as their own. Automakers do this all the time for different reasons. Today, we’re going to learn why.
Join Nolan as he checks out some of the okay-est and worst “badge jobs” in history, because there aren’t many good ones.
WheelHouse answers all the questions about the automotive world you never thought to ask. Nolan Sykes looks at the history, sociology and psychology behind the cars you love, and the features you might overlook.

Title translation: How GM scrambles to make a buck and fails miserably every time
Chad Bell not really
chevy ss was made to fail and wasnt an actual failure. they just wanted to sell them off before pulling the plug on holden
They've had some successful ones.. lol the Chevy LUV was an Isuzu faster... Lol the metro and tracker were Suzukis and they lasted a long time... The Silverado/Sierra and Colorado/canyon do pretty well.. hell all of the GMC truck and SUVs are rebadged Chevy truck and SUVs..
This video could be all about GM. They've done this constantly over the years.
Zero Ninety it could be their tagline because they’ve done it so much
Good example as a DSM guy is Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Plymouth Laser, or the 3000 GT, and Dodge Stealth. Thanks for covering this topic. It's obvious to people like us who work in the automotive industry but unfortunately, most "non-car guys" are so particular about badges it drives me crazy. At the end of the day, most OEMs work together, most OEMs use same tier 1's and those tier1's source material from the same tier 2's........
The chevrolet cavalier was a bad car (EVEN FOR A ECONOBOX) but the toyota cavalier is wrong, really wrong
CZeroMedia those are all just trash in different cans
corvette 86_97 i remember the Toyota Cavalier LMAO.
3000 by and stealth are not dsm lol
Boastful Boost why not?
The entire gmc, Cadillac, and Buick lineup is literally a rebadge job
So is lexus and Toyota
I can see that with gmc but not the entire Cadillac and Buick lineup and definitely not Lexus and Toyota
@@aloseronline4659 the only Lexus's based on Toyota's are the ES, RX, GX, LX, UX and NX
byron Rideaux that’s still 6 models that have been re baged
Yonathan Goldberg well Buick is literally just some opels. And if you look side by side. An encore from Buick is a shiny Chevy trax. Also I like the Cadillac designs but they are way to cheap on the interior. As well as the most of the lineup having Chevy versions. I feel that luxury brands should start from the ground up with minimal parts sharing like “”the old Cadillac “”
Gm: Hey dude can I copy your homework?
Literally every car company: Yeah man just don’t make it obvious you copied it.
Gm: Ok
Every car company: Dude you just changed the name from mine to yours.
Yeah and I made different color options
GM: stfu you dumbass i already own you and most of your friends. What you do is already my property. I do what i want. MURICA.
American public: Falls for it every time
My car is better because it's a Myota 123. 😁
No dummy, it's the same exact car as his Yournda 321 . . But with different hubcaps . And a $3000 markup.

Curt Brockhaus so you just automatically assume everyone is from the us or something? I’m irish lmao. Also yes I know that this was a funny joke I was making, don’t take it too seriously
I feel like everyone is forgetting the Toyota Yaris and Mazda 2
Miguel López
Well yeah, the Mazda 2 Sedan doesn’t exist in the US, and the Toyota Yaris hatch doesn’t exist either, so it works out
The example you should have used is the FRS, 86 & BRZ
Literally the same car with three different badges all sold in the USA
Time For Car actually the Yaris hatchback does exist in the USA, I think it was just added
Miguel López
The Mazda 2 just isn’t sold in the US anymore, my mistake
I guess it sells better as a Toyota
Makes sense
What doesn’t make sense, is Subaru and Toyota literally making the BRZ at the same time, and selling them in the same countries
Time For Car agree; yeah it doesn’t make sense same thing happens with the chevy tahoe/suburban and GMC Yukon they are both the same thing basically just a different logo and a few different details but I think it has to do more with brand bias, some people want to have a brz but don’t want to buy a Subaru bc they prefer Toyota reliability so they get the gt86 and the same thing the other way around with Subaru buyers
Who? 😂

Ford Ranger, Mazda B-Series
Mazda and Ford worked together a whole lot through the 90s and 2000s
plus they weren’t bad cars
Chevy Luv
I use a low mileage one owner -00 "Ranger" 2.5TD 4x4 as my service truck and I find it hilarious that this is de facto a Mazda B2500, produced in the very same factory in Thailand and the only differences are things with Ford logo like the driver airbag, radiator grille/mask and the wheel hub covers. The entire engine and drivetrain and electronics (sans the Ford cassette player that I changed very first weekend) and frame and chassis and entire interior are just the same car. Now why on earth would the same truck be sold under two names in the Finnish market and why did this grandpa buy a Ford for several thousand euros higher pricetag than the very same truck had as a Mazda?
We'll never know but here I am with a Ford that has nothing to do with Fords X-D
@Sam S thank god Mazda is independent now. Look at their cars! They have really nice interiors, great reliability and an amazing driving experience. And of course they have the legendary MX-5/Miata depending on where you live.
Man, I would love it if GM went and imported a fleet of Holden UTEs and rebadged them as a new 2018 El Camino
On 20 October 2017 it ceased manufacturing vehicles in Australia
Anthony Webber then GM could buy the blueprints and a few of the models they still have on the show room floor, bring over here for the Geneva auto show, see what the public thinks after a small redesign
i wish they would do that or something, i'd love to have an El Camino
Yeah that would have be great but the 25% chicken tax would make importing the Holden too expensive.
William Rutkowski
GM could of done the same thing as they did with the Chevrolet Sonic, and build it here in America
R.I.P Steve Irwin
Patrik Anđić RIP Holden too. Even though I'm a big Ford fan, it's a shame GM didn't market the commodore as well as they could have, it was superior to whatever local equivalent they had...
too soon
RIP PETA
He definitely did not say "Son of a gun." :D
I actually like the saab 9-2x
several people are typing...
saabaru gang where y'all at
What I love about the Saabaru is that it's a Japanese car, branded as a European car, but only sold in the North American market.
Me too, I had one & I liked it. But I wasn't fooled about what it was, and I didn't have any problem with it being a Subaru.
Hell yeah, Ill take my 5mt 92x aero over a wrx anyday
I love it, but ist sad that the key ist in the wrong position for a Saab. So sad that they dont sell the car here (in europe)
The title should be "who really made your car: how GM shot themselves in the foot...multiple times."
SONICR It wouldn’t have been that bad if gm marketed the Holden’s as holdens

In Japan, Toyota makes minivan called Noah, Voxy, and Esquire, which is same car under different name badge, they also share its small car named Tank as Toyota Roomy, Subaru Justy, and Daihatsu Thor. Daihatsu give their Kei car to Toyota and Subaru, Nissan sell minivan named Serena as Suzuki Landy, Suzuki sell its Kei-cars as Mazda, and give Mitsubishi a small car named Solio. Meanwhile, Nissan's commercial estate named AD Van, is also available as Mitsubishi or Mazda. Mitsubishi and Nissan made a company that produces Kei car for their own. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Fuso, a commercial vehicle manufacturer introduced its new truck named Great, which is re-badged version of Mercedes Benz Actros. Long story short, only Honda don't do badge engineering.
Holy crap, that´s one heck of a map!
Honda rebadged the Isuzu rodeo in 1994
Toyota also makes a minivan called the isis
Lmao
'Honda don't do badge engineering' ?? Acura? Same company but still badge engineering, not to mention Honda have been in bed with Isuzu, Rover, Triumph just to name a few....
Honda also did a badge engineered version of the LandRover Discovery.
Called the Honda Crossroad
Yep, got it, badge engineering. It's like when a bloke wears a T-Shirt with a Lamborghini badge on it. Yet, you know that really he's all about VANS.
Calling the Tesla Roadster 'just a rebadged Lotus Elise' is pretty deceiving. The roadster while developed from the Elise, it ended up sharing very few parts. If I recall correctly, there is a quote from Tesla about how they changed so much of the car, they wish they had started from scratch as it would have been easier, and possibly cheaper too.
It’s really a melting pot, with parts from Ford and even GM.
It doesnt even use the same power source. Its electric
@@maspunchnath7487 it doesn't have to
yeah, the Roadster is based on the Elise, not a rebadged Elise. The fact that the Roadster has a longer wheelbase than a normal Elise should be enough evidence.
Ive a couple of hairs you havent split yet....there was Lotus elise there somewhere? If the answer is yes you need say no more.

Nguyễn Lê Đức Dương Their show is "BlackOut" They've been in other mini series here on Donut
Julian Vargas hmmm, actually, that show is a little weird because it's a little messy, but it's a cool show after all
The little Ford Festiva hatchback has weird badging issues. It was designed by (Mazda Mazda 121), built by Kia (as the Kia Pride), and sold in the states by Ford (Ford Festiva), because they thought americans wouldn't buy a korean built car, so they slapped Ford on it.
Or something like that.
And they sold production line to Iran so... Saipa Saba
in Europe, they were sold as Fiestas
I wouldn't say that the SS having been a Holden hurt it. Things that hurt it way more:
1. Boring Styling. It looks like it's just a $45,000 malibu, the most boring car on the road
2. BORING STYLING. It's supposed to be a performance car, I can't stress this enough.
3. Naming it the "SS" "SS" was always just a trim level. Which led to the few non-car people I know that were aware it was a thing, thinking it was a trim level... of a malibu
4. BAD MARKETING. They didn't even try. Sure, they used it for the body of their NASCAR cup car. But we live in a time of significant disconnect between NASCAR and road going cars. And that's about it. John Q Public had no idea this thing even existed.
I know I know. "But it's an understated sleeper"
You know what understated means? Boring. So does sleeper.
The other big issue with you kind of did state was people would walk onto a GM lot and they look at it no one knew what it was GM did not advertise it or market it at all and someone like you said would say I was at a Malibu know it’s an SS what’s an SS? They killed there own car
You were so close but yet so wrong, do you even know anything about Commodore's.
The same thing killed the GTO. Darn thing looked like a 2 door Grand Am or Grand Prix. No advertising. I love sleepers, but sleepers don't excite the average car buyer.
All good points, especially #4. We couldn't even find good press footage for this video because it seems Chevy didn't bother making any.
Up to speed on the Toyota Corolla
Its on the AE86 video
Go look for it
I've owned two geo prizm's over the years, because they were re-badged Corollas. They were great cars that not many people knew about so they were also cheap at the time.
I have a Geo Prizm ministock racecar! The only issue with a Prizm, is it's lack of power and a heavy weight.
In 1989 my parents wanted to buy another Toyota after totalling their Camry. They were frustrated that Toyota had raised their prices. Buying a comparable Prizm was cheaper. And it was an early model that was built in Japan by (I assume) Toyota themselves.
The SS failed because GM didn't care about it and definitely didn't care to advertise it.
Peyton S. They just sold it to fulfil a commitment to open up holders plants until they become a full time rebadge importer. They definitely didn’t want it to succeed because that could mean keeping those factories open or having to reopen a new production line in North America.
true, i thought it was a better looking Malibu all these time until i saw youtuber review saying it is discontinuing
FrankW1029 it wasn't based of a Malibu

Don't forget about mitsu eclipse, Plymouth laser, and Eagle talon
Chrysler is the laziest rebadger
You also forgot the dodge sx 2.0
No. The Chevy SS and the (new) Pontiac GTO didn't sell well because GM priced them WAY out of the middle-classes reach. They were SUPER overpriced. The anticipation for the release of the (new) GTO was off the hook when GM announced they were bringing it back. People were going INSANE in anticipation for this car. And then they saw the price tag. Holy shit. Hell, I was making low six figures back then and even I didn't want to spend that kind of money for it. Typical GM. They did the same thing with the SSR.
NorthernChev I think SS the right price it was GTO that was way over priced
Yeh i wanted to buy a ss but it was way to expensive for that car would rather buy a mustang or camero with that money
The SS never got any advertising either, so you basically had to be an enthusiast to know it even existed. I work for a chain of dealerships and we have a 2014 triple black SS on our Kia lot and I want is so bad. I just don't have the money or the space to bring her home.
Even in Australia those cars are ridiculously priced and thats why they arent being made anymore sadly.
totally agree great cars but over priced , even a used G8 is a bit pricey
what makes me facepalm about GM bringing rebadged Holdens to America is how they don't bring the models that aren't similar to other cars/competition.. So rather than attempting to bring the Monaro or Commodore to the states, GM needs to bring the unique Holden Ute or Holden Maloo to the states.. There would be absolutely zero competition that looks similar, they can even call it the Chevy El Camino and resurrect that long dead style of a pick-up truck fitted to a car.
I have a strong feeling they would be popular cars with teenagers and young adult males in America, it's an aggressive looking vehicle and many models with very impractical and extravagant amount of Horsepower driven to it's rear wheels (no weight over those wheels), so makes for ridiculous burnouts with loads of fishtailing. Everything a young teenage boy wants. Plus the styling in general you can tell would be something Americans would like: www.topcarrating.com/holden/2017-holden-ute-hsv-gts-r-maloo.jpg
Too bad they don't make them anymore.
i agree and i want a new ute, however i recognize that like maybe 3 people would actually go to a dealer, and buy it, with money. unfortunately teenage boys aren't buying a lot of new cars. i mean hell i am an adult male and i dont have that kind of money, i just drive my 13 year old hoopty saab lol
they couldve even brought in the holden commodore wagon wouldve been good as who doesnt want a v8 wagon
Coarsoldier what do you mean I’m Australian and the Ute is super common (and fast) it’s the ideal Australian sports car for the ideal Australian worker.
One day I would love to have a VF2 Maloo... One day.....
Toyota Matrix - Pontiac Vibe - Toyota Voltz (Japan)
Ford Ranger - Mazda B Series Trucks
Honda Civic - Acura CSX (I know, Honda owns both, but the CSX is 25% more money for the same car)
Stirling Bullet - Dodge Ram
Only Toyota would sell an American built car(Voltz) in Japan and a foreign built car(Matrix) in USA.
I always thought to myself why didn't they sue other companies for copying their design, that's why, thank you for this video, very informative
What happens when you take a hideous car like the Pontiac Aztek and add some GM Magic? You get the Buick Rendezvous

thats a lot of magic, because the Pontiac Aztek and Buick Rendezvous is based on the
Buick Terraza, Chevrolet Uplander, Pontiac Montana and Saturn Relay mini vans
Gabriel Correa do you realize Pontiac/Buick/Chevrolet/Oldsmobile are all General Motors?

The VW Audi Group do this a lot. The MQB platform is probably the most well known and used for a huge percentage of the cars sold by VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat. I have an NJ Fabia on the PQ25 platform, which basically a polo, ibiza and a1 (though the ibiza and a1 use the slightly older PQ24 chassis from the older polo). This isn't a bad thing as the styling is completely different between each brand. Audi being expensive and luxury, vw being sensible and premium, seat being sporty and skoda being the cheaper sensible car. The best part about it is the cheaper brands have the same cool tech, similar handling and the same engines from the expensive models which is a huge win for the average consumer.
The Toyota Aygo was rebadged as the Citroen C1 and the Peugeot 107. Really successful.
Do you even know what rebadging means?! The Aygo was made after both the Citroen and the Peugeot, ans Théo all look VERY different.
Maybe it’s not the right word, I admit. I have seen it was changed slightly.
Toyota Wigo?
They were developed as a joint venture.
@@timfrolov7891 On the Peugeot 107 page - The 107 was developed by the B-Zero project of PSA Peugeot Citroën in a joint venture with Toyota; the Citroën C1 and Toyota Aygo are badge engineered versions of the same car, the Aygo having more detail differences from the C1 and 107.

You forgot About the whole Volkswagen Lineup = Skoda/Seat Lineup Situation the seats and skodas in this case are usually a few Grand less expensive.
They probably never heard about Skoda in US =)
Try Malaysia. Honda Accord, Mitsu Lancer, numerous Dihatsu/Toyota compacts gets the new badge slap because import tariffs.
Yes, Skoda and Seat are not sold in the US so they are not commonly known by most of the Donut audience.
Joshikun that isnt rebadging tho. Different interior and exterior
yeah but partssharing all over the place, apart from the design inside and out, wich was given as an examble of rebadging in this Video, everything in These cars is the same engine, Chassis etc.
As usual, fun and informative! Good job Donut Media! It is channels like yours that keep me from going back to cable.
The Chevy (Sprinter) Nova had the same 4AGE engine as in the AE86 so the Nova was a rebadged 86, with front wheel drive
thegrassmaster2 I'm glad somebody else knew this 😱, people look at me like I've got three heads when I say that
Just so you know, the 4AGE is also found in the MR2
ROJ GERMAN and also in a bunch of other corollas as well as the 86
Matt Wilkinson the 4AGE has been in a ton of cars
ummm.. no, just no. It wasn't a "rabadged AE86"... at all. and the 4AGE came in literally everything at the time. It was a rebadged... wait for it... toyota corolla... and NO NOT the Corolla Trueno/LEVIN. the COROLLA COROLLA that Toyota also sold in their own country which looks like the chevy nova looks... and is FWD like the nova... nice try to spur sensationalism from the Weeaboos though.

It's funny you mentioned the Chevy SS. It was reviewed by Regular Car Reviews a couple of days ago. It was a great car, too bad it didn't sell much.
cause Chevrolet didn't advertise it, and kept it out of canada
Holden makes better car's if you ask me
Yeah, Chevy dropped the ball on the SS. Doug DeMuro points that out in his review of it.
Yyyyyeah. And now our factory is getting shut down costing thousands of jobs. It had high praise from Top Gear (as the Vauxhall VXR8), a low price, mutual components with GM vehicles, 5 big seats, a big fuck off boot and more road presense than a 300C.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Low price my azz. $55k?
Why don’t you guys do an Up To Speed on the rivalry between Audi and Lancia?

I'll do it only on lanciw
And its not even that interesting, Ferrari vs ford on nascar.
its been done.
I love my "Dodge" Stealth.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse and eagle talon! ;)
Plymouth laser, too
I wouldn't consider half of these listed as badge engineered vehicles. GM owns Holden. Holden uses GM platforms, engines, etc. It's not really badge engineering when it's all under GM.
Badge engineering is where one manufacturer goes to another manufacturer of completely different decent and says "hey we'd like to take x car and put it into our lineup", we don't consider Toyotas with Lexus badges to be badge engineered and likewise we shouldn't consider a Holden with a Chevy badge to be badge engineer because technically they are quite literally the same company. When it's the same company it's simply just a rebadge, not a badge engineer.
are you sure about that
My first car was a ‘76 Dodge Colt, literally a Mitsubishi Galant with different emblems and wood grain. I think Plymouth had one too called either Valiant or Cricket.
5:15 looks like an M2 or M4. 3series BMWs in the F series had 4 doors if I’m not mistaken. The kidneys scream M2 to me.
Saab and WRX
they said that, Saab 9-2X is a wrx
they're the same thing! it's direct bolt-on!
Subaru manufactured a badge engineered version of the second generation Impreza hatchback as the "Saab 9-2X" between 2004 and 2005. Retailed only in the North American market for the 2005 and 2006 model years, the car earned the nickname "Saabaru". At the time the 9-2X was conceived, Saab Automobile had been a fully owned subsidiary of General Motors (GM), and GM held a 20 percent stake of Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries.
Atem S. It's a completely different interior
Jake Schuster
thats funny. looks the same to me
Nolan: but nobody in American wanted a Holden
Me & Literally everyone i know: I wanted An SS

Yes but back in 2006 nobody likes holden
@@suspeh I wanted a Ute, but Chevy didn't care enough to rebadge them as an El Camino for the states.
Move to Australia holdens are dirt cheap here
I think many peoples don't understand the difference between corporate cars (1 car used for several models almost identicals for each division of a manufacturer) and badge engineering cars
Mazda 2? not in America..... Scion IA... oops we’re going out of business.... Toyota Yaris IA.... wait let’s clean that up.... Toyota Yaris Sedan!
In Puerto Rico, the car was sold as a Mazda2 and a Scion iA/Toyota Yaris iA simultaneously.
One, in my youth, I remember seeing a Vauxhall Astra / Opel Kadet parked in a car park. Except it had a Pontiac badge on it. As a Brit, I always thought of Pontiac as this cool exotic American company that made muscle cars or something. I'd never seen a Pontiac in the flesh before. My world was turned somewhat upside down that day.
There was also the Volkswagen Routan, which was basically a rebadged Dodge Grand Caravan, which itself was a rebadged Chrysler Town & Country... many badge engineering is crazy.
And wasn't the Dodge Caravan rebadged as Chrysler Grand Voyager in Europe? Great succes btw. in an era when Europeans didn't like American cars at all. (weak suspension, bad gas milage, poor finish etc.etc.). This was quite an accomplishment! In this day and age I see ever so more Dodge Rams, VW Amaroks, Nissan Hiluxs' etc. etc. on the road as a good alternative for the here ever present panel vans. They are mostly converted to run on LPG then.

Better than perodua, which rebadged toyota/daihatsu almost 90% of their existence

The new Mercedes X-Class is based on the Nissan Navara.
Not just based. It is a Navarra with different interior and some exterior parts. But that is super common with European car makers. VW sells the same Golf and Polo platforms as Skodas, Seats, Audis. Renault has the Kangoo which Mercedes sells as Citigo (or whatever it's called). And so on.
and it runs on Renault engines ;-)
And the sprinter is based on VW.
I remember that trucks for the 90's, from different brands were all essentially Hilux's. Isuzu and VW comes to mind.
@@GermanEngineer84 That's not strange and no secret at all. Almost every European knows that the VAG concern includes VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda and Maybach,MAN(trucks) to name a few. The Renault/Nissan/Mercedes Benz bonding isn't hardly a new topic either..
It sucks we don’t get a real Yaris like in the UK and Japan, instead we get a Mazda 2
Up to speed on the TOYOTA HILUX
Jason Voorhees its in the 4runner video
Thomas John Solidum yea but he touched on it slightly, he didn’t mentionanything about the hilux other than it’s a pickup, it’s more than just a pickup
In India's case we have many. For naming a few.
There's a Romanian maker's Dacia Duster, which is sold rebadged as Renault Duster in India. Also in India, same Dacia Duster is tweaked very little and is sold rebadged by Nissan as Nissan Terrano.
Famous case with Maruti Suzuki.
Also Maruti Suzuki will partner with Toyota for rebadging each other's car.
Also. This may seem wierd or maybe a thought in my head. Look at the new Range Rover Discovery and the Tata Safari Lineup. Yup mostly everything is different, but look at basic design of em. Tata owns both Jaguar and Land Rover now. And Safari line up is known as best SUV lineup. So it might have happened.
here in Argentina happens the same with the Duster, and so with the sandero, and i think most of the lineup of renault are dacias and not renault, but thats a common thing in my country (you know to sell crappy cars)
Nissan and Renault share a lot of models
Nissan Sunny : Renault Scala
nissan micra : renault pulse
Yah. Same here with Renault mostly.
Yup..forgot the Sunny=Scala thing
Because Renault buy a lot share in Nissan
Dacia is owned by Renault as cheap brand like a skoda in VAG.
Mateusz Zimon thanks for telling
I had a Suzuki Forenza, which was a Daewoo Lacetti, Chevy Optra, Chevy Lacetti and a Holden Viva!
The sad story of Lancia

How about the tragedy of Lancia? A rally legend who's sole purpose is to sell rebadged Fiats and Chryslers in Europe
Marco kwan sad story...
It’s not a story the CEOs would tell you...
They only sell a single car, that's not a rebadge these days.
Kar Wai Wong they sold rebadged cars like the Thema and Ulysse, the Ypsilon is a Fiat 500 with different bodywork
DDT Yeah but they don’t sell the Thema anymore. The Ypsilion is not a rebadge, don’t get it confused with platform sharing.
0:23 ITS NOT A LIQUID!!!!
LMFAO! I thought the same thing.
microbuilder
tell that to Scrooge McDuck lol
darn inconsistent cartoon physics....
The Chevy SS come to Brazil named Chevrolet Ômega. GM market in Brazil is basically Chevrolet brand. About 90’s and 2000 Chevrolet rebranded Opel and Vauxhall models to brazilian costumers, but todays chevrolet market have many GM american Models, Like Camaro, Cruze, Equinox and brazilian made models Like Chevrolet Montana, S10, Trailblazer and the Ônix, Ônix is the best-seller model in Brazil, a 4cyl1.0/1.4L 108cv FWD manual compact car hatchBack or sedan body, for around US$15.000.

The first and second gen Z24 came with the 2.8
I'm glad I found this channel it is really informative and entertaining. My first car was an "Opel", I thought I'd bought a German car but examining the paperwork it had been made in England at the Vauxhall plant.
Which is why the Corsa didn't get its name changed

i like the dsm cars ... eclipse talon and laser are all awesome
you mean laser?
Eagle Talon
Plymouth Laser
Mitsubishi Eclipse
they are the same car
You forgot the GMC Yukon XL and the suburban.
No one wanted a Holden huh? Then why did GM offer the Holden badges as accessories to the SS? I would have loved an SS but a house was more important at that time. Have a G8 though, had a GTO.
Only selected dealers and some aftermarket outfits (and the companies Federalizing models like the Commodore Ute)...
The truth about RUF
Mj Tingzon RUF Is a like Brabus.... But they works on Porsche desing only
Mj Tingzon RUF is a tuning house, though. Just like Dinan is to BMW.
Mj Tingzon ruf tuned theyre cars not just rebadge them
Anggoro Putra Alpina is the better example
Up to speed: RUF
one thing to note, the Roadster actually did have some engineering put into it. Yes, they started with the Elise, but obviously retooled EVERYTHING about the chassis and suspension to accommodate the battery, motor placement, and new weight distribution (and weight).
Also, the alliance between Honda and Isuzu in the 90s. Does anyone remember the Isuzu Oasis?
Honda rebadged the Isuzu Rodeo and Isuzu Trooper as the Honda Passport and Acura SLX
MercurySable99 it was a rebadged Honda Pilot and/or Passport. Also the 90's Honda/Isuzu partnership with GM, Isuzu sent motors to GM for them to Rebadged for small engine truck/SUVs like the Chevy S10/S15/Blazer, GMC Sonoma/Cyclone/Jimmy, and a few small engine cars, mostly the twin overhead cam sedans on Saturn's, Pontiac's, Olds, Buick's.
The Oasis was a rebadged Honda Odyssey.
Nik Buerky Isusu engine also was mounted in Opel/Vauxhall cars
Mateusz Zimon I did say they sent them to GM, GM owns Opel and Vauxhall, so that would imply that GM put them in whatever they owned.
My Chevrolet Spark is proudly made by Deawoo GM, in South Korea
Garrett Reven GM and Daewoo have a long history with share platform and cars.
Sure do, I just get a kick out of finding Deawoo branded parts every once in awhile, instead of GM
In Poland Daewoo make microwave owen and cars like Lanos,Nubira,Lacetti
My aveo was a mostly Daewoo make. It was a nice first car. I miss it.

Indonesian here, and badging industry is rocketing here. Toyota-Daihatsu is mastering it with Rush-Terios, Avanza-Xenia, Agya-Ayla, Calya-Sigra, basically whole Daihatsu lineup is Toyota, built by Daihatsu in Daihatsu's factory.

Hyper Vanilo Gak inget. Malah gak tau.
walah, chevy tavera-isuzu panther? mu-x - trailblazer?
Jangan lupa Timor dan Bimantara. Rebadge Kia dan Hyundai :)
Chevy Spark = Daewoo Matiz, pretty much every Volkswagen = Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Lambo, Audi
It's not really rebadging if you own both brands. It's called platform-sharing.
You haven’t got a clue about the VW group have you.
They managed to shove a V8 into the Cygnet and it looks like something only a madman would drive
The MG midget was just an Austin Healy sprite with MG logos on it
Look at the Austin 1300, it was badged as a Morris, MG, Riley, Wolseley, Vanden Plas + I might be missing a few

That time when GM in the 2000s has the Yukon, the Yukon XL, the Tahoe, Suburban, and the Escalade (can’t remember if that had an XL or it was just big by default) were literally indistinguishable from each other until you saw the badge, and the only thing the Escalade has were some plastic fender flares to set it apart as a “luxury” car
100th! RAMCHARGERS! woohoo!
Man will you shut the fuck up about that shit already

Ramchargers are pretty sweet.
that green one is an m2... good job
I was just wondering that (even paused at it a couple of times)... It is a flared-out M2 (more desirable successor to the M3 Coupé, as it is smaller, nimbler and more agile). Forgot to mention the M3 Coupé is now called M4 (as BMW changed the numbering on all 3 Series coupes to 4 Series, and made them slightly longer and lower, even the 4-door Gran Turismo 4-door).
syxepop it is a wide body m2 f22 called “eurofighter” with an LS and 820hp
I was looking for this comment lol
One of the cars I learned to drive on was a 1956 Monarch. This was a rebadged Mercury assembled in Canada. We also had, until the mid 60s, the Beaumont which was a slightly restyled Chevelle and the Acadian which was a Chevy II/Nova.
I never once saw a Chevy SS ad.
