Thank you for this video! I love FPS games but have never given Destiny a try. When I opened the menu for the first time I'd never felt so overwhelmed lmao
@@Deathwish72 I've played D1 and D2 for about 6 years and I just returned. Even I feel overwhelmed and have no idea what to, where to go and how the systems work. I'm sure Bungie has taken massive steps to improve the game in terms of content and QoL updates but the new/returning player experience has taken three steps back in the meantime. Personally, I'll just go at my own pace and see where I end up but that's just because I know what destiny is and what I can expect. I imagine that's not the case for a new player.
It’s so unnecessary too. I played D1 and was very comfortable with everything involved, I could even teach new players the ropes. But when I loaded in for the first time during witch queen, it was ridiculous. Luckily that DLC had (a bit of) a free to play campaign, so I could level up my light really easy while playing the legendary mode and was enjoying it, but light fall just throws you into the intro mission, then after that, you’re chucked to the very limited F2P section of the game (next mission is locked behind DLC)… so how do I level up light? Grind crucible and strikes? That’s fun lol.
Just now returning to D2 after not having played since 2018. I clicked on about a dozen videos looking for info like this and none of them covered even half the things you did, or as succinctly. Thanks for the video!
Absolutely appreciate this video. Destiny 1 veteran here and somewhat of a destiny 2 OG but haven’t played since forsaken. Coming back to this game is super confusing so this helped a lot!
I played destiny 1 from release to the start of destiny 2, dropped off before any expansion so hopping back in now is crazy it really is a totally different game
I played destiny 2 at launch but it's been a while since I last played properly. This video will help a tonne! Thanks for the simple, but extremely informative commentary. Awesome video bro 🤟🏼🇬🇧
Just an FYI, the XP gained from bounties will only apply to your charter and not to the Vendor (Unless!) stated otherwise in the bounty. For example, Nimbus Bounties will grant “Reputation Rank” and XP per bounty completed. Zavala only gives player xp, I believe Gambit and Crucible are the same.
My brother has wanted to me to play destiny for the past few years so I've finally gave in and download the game. As soon as I started I felt sooooo overwhelmed... 💀 this definitely helped a little bit of my confusion, thank you!
great video! but you shouldve explained that you don’t just equip new armor, you find a piece of gear that has good stats and infuse higher level gear into it using upgrade modules. But overall good info!
thanks for making this video! i was a d1/very early d2 player, played intermittently all the way up to forsaken, and then kinda gave it up. every time i download it i'm sooo lost now. this is a huge help
Thank you for this video; I took a break after finishing Witch Queen, so this helps me remember things. Shame I have heard some negative things about Lightfall.
I think another thing that needs to be said that literally not a single video touches on, and seemingly all new players are confused on, is this. THERE IS NO CHANCE YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE STORY OR CONTEXT OF LITERALLY ANY ACTIVITY YOU DO. When you do an activity or speak to a character or even travel to a planet, do not expect to understand whats going on, it wont be explained to you, and everything is scrambled in a random order. Do not try to attempt to know whats going on because A) thats not why you as a NEW player are playing. B) ITS NOT IMPORTANT. Your goal is simply to grind either pvp or pve to level up your light level and complete bounties/quests for gear. No story, don't bother, you will become even more confused then you already are. Now with DLC and what to buy? Again stop thinking about the story or campaign. Thats not the point. They just add new systems eg. a new subclass. The most recent DLC is what you need to progress, that's obviously where the new content is. Other than that just think "what feature do i wanna unlock? a new subclass? weapon crafting?" then purchase as needed. Do not think "I wanna play the latest, does it matter if I play them out of order?" or "will i be lost if i skip one?". Because the answer is, you will be lost story wise anyway and everything is trickled down to you out of order. Hope that helps any one new and still confused even thought they watch the 100 new player videos out there. Don't be confused when you cant find the "main campaign"
Thats exactly the video i was looking for. Now i know every little part a bit to move on with the game. Without a doubt, the best video i‘ve seen so far about destiny 2 beginnet guides. Thank you !!!
Really awesome guide for the newcomers i have to say....im not new to Destiny but the I missed a tutorial like this back then...i had to learn everything on my own. Shame that almost everything is now DLC that you have to buy...still a lot of fun !
A few notes: Titans aren't for survivability, though they certainly can. Think of Titans as the Classic Tanks, they can take hits and hit harder, as well as having abilities to protect your teammates from taking hits as well. Hunters are for survivability, and this is due to their incredible mobility. You can go invisible, dash, dodge, zip through bullets like it's nothing if you're good enough. As well as pick enemies off like a shark. Warlock is for the patient sort who want to slow it down a bit, good at supporting your allies with buffs or healing, but equally as good at inflicting debuffs and wonderful destruction on enemies as well. A good Warlock can bring such glorious ruin and control to the battlefield depending on the Subclass you pick. Every Class can do a little bit of something tho, Hunters are capable of granting buffs and debuffs like a Warlock, Warlocks are capable of obliterating entire rooms like a Titan, and Titans are capable of zipping around and picking off the weak like a Hunter. Personally, I'd say your decision just depends on which aesthetic you like better.
thx alot! I got into destiny because a couple of DLCs were free, I enjoyed the gameplay but when the I reached the tower and was forced to use the menu, i had no idea what to do. This vid helped alot!
Ngl, when I first got into Destiny 2 it was like learning a College Textbook and memorizing it from Front to Back and all chapters of it, but this video really helped. Cheers for the advice :) Free advice is always best lol.
As a new player thank God for the guardian ranks as I have zero friends who play. And while RUclips has taught me a lot about builds and play styles, the game taught me how to play.
Thanks for this video bro!! When I played Destiny 2 a few years ago, it was completely different, just downloaded it on PS5 and it's a MASSIVE difference so thank you!!
Kept seeing players sinking hundreds of hours into this game. Decided recently to give it a try. Hope I can find as much enjoyment in it as others do. Thanks for the introduction
Actually a great video, straight to the point, and easy to follow. Started playing with a friend a week ago and was completely lost just being led around and doing strikes and missions. Didn't enjoy it because I didn't really even understand what I was doing, even after it was explained. This video helped a ton, and I feel like I will enjoy D2 a lot more now, thanks.
Bro thank you for this this is exactly what I needed as a player who hasn't touched D2 since forsaken. thank you so much big dawg you've earned the sub fr fr
I played Destiny 1 when it was in beta. i completed the beta and fell absolutly in love with the game back then but after the beta due to certian circumstances i stopped gaming till a couple of months ago. got a ps5 and really want to play this game now. this video helped alot as i had no clue what to do. thanks dude !
Wonderful explanation, thanks brother. I was straight up confused when i first launched this game, but after your video i feel like my understanding has kind of been improved, and once again thank you 💪
I feel like the most enjoyable part of the game is the abilites for me at least. Just how you can unlock the 5 different "ability types" you can also unlock different abilities in each section. Like the way you glide or the type of gernade you use. You have to go to a NPC I forget her name but you buy them then meditate to unlock them. I feel like this is a massive reason I play the game atm.
I remember my 2017 days, the last time I played the original destiny and haven't touched it or destiny 2 at all. Just getting into destiny 2 now because its been years and I'm feeling nostalgic. I got quite far into destiny 1 and can't play it anymore due to my xbox one being munted.
Thank you for this, I just installed this game and got the Lightfall expansion. This really helped me start off on the right track and know what’s what and where to start and go to for quests n missions
New player guide:have $500 set aside so you can play the whole game Be prepared to never expierience a raid Be prepared to see the content you paid for get removed from the game It’s just so great
I'm a division franchise veteran and have noticed more and more of my friends dropping division 2 for Destiny 2 I myself have always thought the game looked trash but it's free to play on my ps5 so I'm gonna have in and give it a blast I'll admit all the various game options and mechanics 's are making my brain hurt before I've even picked up my duelsense controller
A decent video, but since it targets beginners, some additional clarity would help. 1. When talking about stats, mention that you get the bonus just every 10 points. 2. A better explanation on strikes and crucible. Which ones are PvE, which ones are PvP. Differences in dungeons, raids. 3. Quests are divides in groups, not just expansions. Other than that, pretty cool. Keep it up.
The amount of money I would spend to spend a day with you is downright concerning. You are the only person I’ve understood, This game is so confusing :(
How do you manage three accounts. One titan, one warlock and one hunter? Do you have to play 3 times as much, and basically replay every mission and quest on all accounts? Or can I skip that if I’ve already done that on my main character?
Thank you for the video! Really liking all the changes you highlighted. My wife and I are looking to get into this game as a sort of a couch co-op game. We havent really played an FPS since Halo 2. Would this game work pretty well for two people to play through together?
One thing that has always held me back is.. as a new player should you essentially buy all expansions and play them in release order? Do players still play older expansions etc.
Only if you wanna experience the story for yourself OR as some activities in the game requires you to have certain expansions for example raids ,nightfalls or dungeons will need you to have shadowkeep to do the garden of salvation raid etc
Some players do play older expansions but like I said sometimes they do it for the story and sometimes they just wanna do a certain activity which requires the expansion
The best expansion to purchase is always going to be the most recent one. The only other one I would recommend is beyond light, which gives you access to another sub class called stasis.
As a complete beginner there's a few thing that still puzzle me in your video. 15:32 deconstruct ? What is it ? How ? 16:08 What's an engram ? Also i bought the expansion and what looked like an anual pass and i'm already level 20 ? Can i still complete all the campaigns ?
I find the guide very interesting and clear, good job. But as someone who intend to come back after... A long time (shadowkeep was not even release) I'm lost when it come to which DLC should I buy and why :/ Do you have any.. uh, advice ?
Thank you for watching 🙏 Tbh the best and most important DLC to buy is always going to be the most recent one. In this case it would Lightfall. I also recommend the Beyond Light DLC since it gives you access to a new sub class called Stasis 💎👍🏻
Thanks for answering ! Glad to get Beyond Light DLC for free via PS plus, I'm gonna watch for Witch Queen (weapon crafting if I'm not wrong) and Lighfall for later when I'll get used to play, because subclass is important too. Thank you again, and have a good day/night 🥳
I’m returning to destiny after 3 years of not playing. I left because the game wasn’t as good when it first released. Decided to play again now that bungie is away from the shitty company, and heard good things. This video was super helpful in refreshing my memory and not feeling super overwhelmed
Great video! I came back to destiny 2 and was like where is the storyline. This explains it. Love destiny and I was sad to see that guided storyline gone.
Currently downloading this right now. I played the first game for a while (as a Warlock) and enjoyed it but never jumped into number 2 for some reason.
Two NPCs I wish you had gone over were ikora and the drifter as well as focused decoding for the npcs because I also don’t understand that. I was going to ask about stowing good weapons because of the limited space in your inventory but then you talked about the vault 😂
Good video.. I stared playing for the 1st time a few days ago and loved it immediately but was a little lost with exactly what I was supposed to be doing in a few spots.. this answers a few of my questions. Thank you
I havnt played like you said in sooooo long...i got burnt out and hated the way it went but i still love the game and give it a try from time to time and im hoping one day it sticks again even though im unsure if it will...i remenber d1 day 1...i was lost in the game and d2 came out all hell broke loose for me....i miss this game so much but it went a way i dont like...i keep going back from time to time so these videos are always nice to keep up lol i switched consoles and have nothing so this helps way kore than you know!! I’m returning to destiny after 3 years of not playing. I left because the game wasn’t as good when it first released. Decided to play again now that bungie is away from the shitty company, and heard good things. This video was super helpful in refreshing my memory and not feeling super overwhelmed
Havent played for years and found this video, gonna start again tonight! Thanks for the video.
Kept it tight and focused on core mechanics. Thank you. Some other intros were way too long and going into excessive minutiae.
Glad it helped!
Thank you ColdBwoyy for the great introduction,This helps me alot.
Thanks for watching 🙏
Great video! I came back to destiny 2 and was like where is the storyline. This explains it. Love destiny and I was sad to see that guided storyline gone.
Coming back after stopping at Forsaken.. I failed to migrate my battle net to steam so I'm starting fresh!
I’ve been playing destiny 2 on and off for years, and I still find it overwhelming 😅
Very Very helpful, well spoken, and to the point. This has helped immensely!
Glad you think so! Thank you 🙏
Thank you! I'm a returning player and had no clue what to do. Really helped 🙌🏼
This video was perfect, thank you! Forgot how much fun Destiny 2 was, and they made it easier with the tutorial rank, thank you!
First time since Destiny 1. Tried to jump back in when it went free to play and I was just lost and stopped.
Haven’t played this game for along time I believe since they dropped shadow keep and it’s fun again even playing on 120fps feels so smooth
Great video just got into Destiny 2 with my girlfriend and was a little lost. Going to share this with her as well.
Just getting back into Destiny after some time gone. This vid helped a bunch. Thanks broseph
Should i as a new player get the season pass?
If you plan on investing lots of hours into the game then I would 👍🏻
Currently downloading this right now. I played the first game for a while (as a Warlock) and enjoyed it but never jumped into number 2 for some reason.
im just getting back into this game since the first expansion i needed this video
I haven't played since it came out good to know it's worth giving another try
As a borderlands fan this game looks so fun but I never understood it good video
Thank you, I got an achievement saying I was level 20, but can’t seem to find that info In game anywhere
Best explanation so far thanks you 😅
Glad it helped!
Two NPCs I wish you had gone over were ikora and the drifter as well as focused decoding for the npcs because I also don’t understand that. I was going to ask about stowing good weapons because of the limited space in your inventory but then you talked about the vault 😂
Nice job Cold i sending this vid to my friend that trying Destiny for the first time.
Good video.. I stared playing for the 1st time a few days ago and loved it immediately but was a little lost with exactly what I was supposed to be doing in a few spots.. this answers a few of my questions. Thank you

i recently made a second account but i cant make or join posts on the destiny companion app. i have no idea why and i completed the new light quests
Do you recommend buying the past expensions when I really enjoy the game or just the latest one?
