2021: 8 Rounds of Chemotherapy (Carboplatin and Paclitaxel) with 30 concurrent radiation treatments to chest and lung
Failed Immunotherapy directly after Chemo and Radiation (Durvalumab, 1 round)
2022: Chemotherapy
10 rounds of Chemotherapy (Carboplatin, Alimta, and Avastin)
6 with Carboplatin, 4 without
Targeted Brain Radiation (Completed)

The purpose of my channel is to document my cancer journey to look back on, and/or help anyone else going through anything similar. It is also to potentially help loved ones supporting those who are in this fight as well. This is also an easy way to update a lot of people at once. My main goal is to have footage of this journey for my husband and children to look back on. I originally created this channel as a sort of video diary for my
family.

When I was going through my cancer journey in 2010, my 16 yr. old teenage son was so strong and to this day he is the most compassionate, loving person. I was ill two years ago from an unknown viral infection. I was in and out of the hospital, had every known test, scan, etc. He was the one who encouraged me to get the second spinal tap and convinced me to go through with ionaphoresis to cleanse my blood of Sepsis. Had he not convinced me to do so, I would have died within a week. My loving boy recently spent 3 months in Texas helping a friend care for his grandpa who is diagnosed with lung cancer. He drove his family to every appointment and helped do chores as well as fix anything that needed attention. He just turned 30.

We all can see Jenny has been struggling with some pain that just won't let up... I'm asking if all of us could come together in prayer Thursday night at 7pm June 29th. Let's just ask for strength for Jenny, Kyle and the kid's and all the help they are receiving and especially the physician's giving them knowledge on how to help her best. Just finish praying whatever you feel they need. I personally don't know what this feels like, but I'm thankful I can have compassion and feeling's for this GREAT NEED. Thanks everyone!!!

Jenny is definitely tired of doing this but she’s trying to be strong for her family. It is breaking my heart. We have all been following Jenny from the very beginning and she has been a trooper. I drained my husband for months. If you want to take my advice: when the fluid is coming out and it's painful, lift the bag. This worked for us. I hope it does for you. Sending lov❤.

So happy you were able to obtain the portable concentrator! I know it was a game changer for both my dad and my brother, in terms of being able to get out more, without the worry of running out of oxygen, and having to carry extra equipment in the car. Jenny, on drain days, do you pre-medicate beforehand with pain meds and/ or anti-anxiety meds? I’m sure your team is on it' but just thought I mention it in case you aren’t. Also, as others have suggested, occasionally raising the bag during the drainage process does slow it down a little, and make it less painful.
You say "cancer hurts" as many times as you need, dear Jenny. You are both resilient and brave.

Jenny, I too have played the pain game (chronic) for years. Please hear my wisdom (I'm 73), the rule you must live by is to "STAY AHEAD OF THE PAIN"! It doesnt ever pay off to delay or skip a dose because you pay double for it latsr. You are.brave and strong. You are a rock star for educating so many on this platform. Virtual hugs.

I mean cancer tying to kill up, medications, constant movement, and it's getting hot, I'd assume no one can be preppy and smiley all the time. At some point, that would get anyone. How do you feel she should act dealing with all that? It's clearly taking a toll on her.

@@sovereignfreedom1957 I think you hit the nail on the head. It's the reality of cancer, especially stage 4. I have had 2 family members that I saw in the deep stages of it and it's just the reality of it. You can't be yourself because you are just in so much discomfort.
@@maryyung1994 It gets easier to understand in due time. Fentanyl did not help my wife and she ended up using a self administered pain medication in IV. She could push a button every 15 minutes. These are extreme levels of pain that are inconceivable like always being at a 9 out of 10 and I helplessly looked on. It took me months to fully understand. I hope this explanation helps.
I can tell you my father had cancer my entire childhood. Growing up with something like a parent having cancer I truly feel has made me much more compassionate and so strong. I watched that man fight and now when things get me down or i feel overwhelmed I just think back to Dad struggling but still fighting and I know I can do anything
By the way my Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They only gave her 3 weeks to 3 months to live. Like you, she was a fighter, through chemo, radiation, surger, more chemo. She lived 11 more years never giving in until her last six weeks. She even went on a cruise the last six months of her life. If someone asked her if she was worried about dying, she would say, "i am living each day to its fullest. I don't worry about death as i am too busy living." You have that same spirit. God loves you.❤❤

My mother had cancer for 5 years and as a teen I provided a lot of her care. At the age of 18 I went to nursing school, my experience caring for my mother gave me a good start. I had 45 yr nursing career then I retired. Often positive things come from our hardships in life.
How long do I get to live with stage 4 non small cell lung cancer. Adenocarcinoma .. I’m only taking. Keytruda .. and they will not give me pain medicine. ..😭. I go for my next PET scan in three weeks. My question is respectfully if you have the time how long does it take for non-small cell cancer to metastasized to another organ and since I have the cancer in my upper left lobe in both lower lobes is that considered metastasize and thank you very much for all that you’ve done to all for all the kids are people on earth and thank you please answer. Thank you.
I don’t know the details of your case. However your Pet scan coming up will guide your doctor to what treatment may be your next step. Being treated actively for cancer is generally a slow process. I can see you are anxious and that is normal. Perhaps it would help you to write down your plan in a daily journal. People like to take just a few notes and keep tract of what you are going through. From your notes write all the questions you have to talk to your doctor about. This may help you to be more a little organized to be involved in your care. Your questions are important to answer even at this time may not have the answers you are seeking. It is important that you are active in your own care. I think you may be a little les anxious. I know the anxiety will remain but focus for now on your daily care. Jenny is a great example of what I am talking about. Know that we are thinking about you too. I hope your cancer care team is great too.

@@godschild3640 My thought In reading your post and you have been told you are going to die and that is the truth have you been offered or considered a program called Palliative Care? It was created for those who have a serious illness but it focus’s on living. The Program is individually designed to meet your needs.
You have to stay AHEAD of the pain! This is the only way you can get enough rest to heal...
I realize that it's probably not that unusual to learn so much and be inspired this much by someone I've never actually met. Still it's stunning to me. You're part of my consciousness now, Jenny. I'll be doing something mundane like folding laundry and start praying for you guys without even thinking about it. The internet is a terrifying place in a lot of ways, but this is one way that it's a major blessing. It connects people like you (not that there IS anyone like you!) with those of us who cherish you. One more thing Jenny, I too use home oxygen just like your blue one and it really dries my mouth and throat out at night. My Nurse ordered me a bubble humidifier to put on it and it helps keep my mouth and throat from getting irritated. It would benefit you greatly to have your team order you one. You use distilled water in it. Praying for you and your Family.

I grew up with a terminally ill parent. While I won’t pretend it was easy, I do not feel scarred, resentful, or anything negative. It gave me huge admiration for my parents and has equipped me to be more understanding and supportive of others. I also feel like it helped me learn from an early age that life isn’t perfect, problems will happen, but that you just lean into your faith and keep going. Sometimes I admit that I find people’s reactions to unexpected problems in life surprising because they never experienced difficulty, and sometimes are sidelined by shock. Our problems have given our family an inner strength that brings us closer together and helped me not fall apart at the first big problems that come up in life.
I agree with that, my Dad passed away at 33 from a sudden cardiac arrest and going through that and seeing my mom as a single parent providing for us on little money, made me understand that life does not always go as expected. After I grew up, I also went through some hard things, which in most ways made me stronger and wiser. People who had smooth sailing growing up and not many problems after, have a harder time dealing when something difficult comes along for them.
You know I have been thinking . A couple of my friends RUclips’s channels do photo updates when videos are “too much” so if you guys aren’t up for it or just can’t juggle the oxygen etc just posting a photo keeps us all connected without draining you!!!

I first want to say you are a very beautiful lady and brave beyond words. You always look nice no matter how terrible you probably feel. I do that also. Even with my heart condition and I am totally exhausted, I leave for an appointment with hair and makeup done. I wanted to let you know that my Stepfather had cancer in his lung during his early 60's. Within that 5 year period, he also developed colon cancer, prostate cancer, and melanoma. Well, he is now in his 90's and lives by himself in the large house since my Mom passed. At least he finally now has someone else mowing the lawn.
Jenny, miracles happen every day. I watch your videos and say a prayer for you daily. My Stepfather is still here 30 years after surviving the 4 major cancers that men have.
As my wonderful Mom always told me, just take it one day at a time. I believe that the past is ultimately done, and not one person knows what tomorrow may bring, so live today loving and being loved.
Jenny I have not written before but I found you several months ago. I am 72 and find you so precious. I pray for you, Jenny, and your adorable family. Ellis has seemed like such a mature, thoughtful soul for a while now, but it's been a joy to watch Winnie mature! She seems like she's becoming as emotionally intelligent as her brother and so smart and mature for her age. Such lovely kids. What a wonderful legacy for such lovely parents!
They are learning compassion and patience which will benefit them and those around them. They won't be scarred they will be stronger.
They are emulating all the wonderful attributes that Jenny and Kyle are abundantly blessed with. I’ve never witnessed such resilience and compassion in parents for each other and others.
I just found your channel yesterday and have been binge watching. I have stage 4 lung cancer with mets to bone, diagnosed 4/9/21. Yes, cancer hurts! That is my current struggle as well. I still work full-time (from home) and the pain has been getting more and more in the way of doing my job to the best of my ability. I made an appt. yesterday with the palliative care team who will begin managing my meds so I might get more relief. I just wanted to say, after your draining, in the sped up part of the video where you were rocking back and forth and esp. each time you put your head in your hands, those motions look so familiar. I do the exact same thing in the exact same way. The pain just gets unbearable. It is hard for folks to realize that we operate most days on a 3-4 level of pain sometimes as baseline but when the pain gets like it did for you after the draining, long-term 8-9 is just incomprehensible yet SO real. One of your viewers wrote about not letting the pain get ahead of you and I have been learning the same thing. When it gets ahead of me, it is so hard to get it back in control. I will be praying for you.

Why do some people feel the need to tell Jenny about a loss. I would never tell someone such upsetting news when they are struggling.
Jenny is well aware that life is full of tragedy and has shared when someone she cared about died as well. She’s an empathetic person and I’m sure doesn’t mind someone who takes the time to follow and listen to her sharing their own heartbreak. How about showing some compassion to others that are suffering rather than comments like this.
@@MK-gy1ug and some people take comfort in sharing their own experiences good and bad. I feel like these comments literally scolding people who going through great loss is in such bad taste. You don’t have to agree but piling on is just going to make them feel bad. Is that necessary?

Jenny, my 38 yo daughter with 4 children is ill. Since Saturday, some ultra scan results are indicating a 3.6 cm black solid mass on her liver. Today, some blood results came back indicating she has titanium poisoning in her blood. She has had multiple surgeries the last 3 years and one of them was titanium parts put in her neck. The list of physical ailments at this point is to much to mention. A MRI will be done July 5th. She also had a complete rt hip reconstruction & I don’t know if the screws were titanium also. She is on-a c-pap machine now because her breathing is very labored at night and almost bedridden at this point. My gkids are 15 yo, 12 yo, and identical twin boys that are 9 yo. Your willingness to share with us your journeys and your families journeys thru everything is giving me hope, patience and courage. I will keep you informed as things move forward. I just wanted to share with you because you share so much with us. Love to you & family Jenny. ❤❤❤

Pain management doctors gave me quality of life again after 18 years of severe chronic pain. Extended release pain medication was a game changer. I hope you're able to get one of those portable oxygen things vs having to carry around tanks

It's ok to cry sweet Jenny. We care about what you're going through. I literally cried and put my hand on the screen as you were explaining the painful process you'd just been through, and prayed. So many people have your back, and there's one in Atlanta hugging you right now.

My beloved Mom was diagnosed with ca when I was 13, and lived for 8 years with lots of medical treatment. This was in the middle of the last century, (1950s) and ca treatment is lightyears ahead now. But I wanted to let you know that as I got older I felt such thankfulness for the doctors and our friends and family that supported my Mom and our family theough those years. My gratitude only grows the older I get. Now, everytime I cook, or sew, or do anything I remember my Mom did with me, I think of as gifts my Mom gave me when she could. Thankfulness keeps me in touch with what was, and is important to me.
Your Mom was a trooper! They didn't even have the anti-nausea drugs back then, not that they bring complete relief. She made sure that you felt love in spite of probably often needing to be in bed. God bless her and you.
The kids ARE going to come out of this stronger. They WILL be more resilient, compassionate, and determined. They're learning so much from you and Kyle. It's something that lasts forever.

Jenny, it’s ok to be scared, ok to cry, ok to be vulnerable. It’s ok to say your tired when your tired. Although you guys don’t know us personally, I can assure you that so many people love and support you.
My mom had the same cancer in the same areas as you Jenny. Her story isnt a happy one. She was very young also and she got diagnosed and 5 months later she was gone. She refused any and all treatment besides brain surgery to remove a metastatic tumor that returned in just a couple months. She didnt do radiation after surgery and never did chemo. We had no time to even get used to her illness before she was gone. I watched your videos because i wanted to see what it would have been like had she done treatment. I respected her decision and did everything humanely possible to help her including taking her across the border into mexico for "alternative holistic treatment ". It may not seem worth it to go through all the treatments because the end result is never guaranteed, but to see the love you have for your family enough to fight and go through all of this is amazing. I wish i had even another week with my mom. It was so bad in the end because the cancer just took over. I know you are worried about your kids but im pretty sure the path you chose is the best for your kids. They will always remember how hard you fought to be here with them. The latter made me think she didnt love me enough to fight (which took years for me to realize that wasnt true). It destroyed me and has taken 10 years to heal. I feel like i had to sort through a lot of doubt because of how it went. Im much better now and i still support her decision because it was her life and body. I understand why she didnt want to do treatment. Your babies have the most amazing role model for resilience and hope. ❤ prayers for you and your family every morning .
Your story is a little like my father's. He had stage 4 lung cancer and no treatment really worked, only for very short period of time. It was so sad to see that this nightmare took a very strong person in so sort of time. I miss him every day and night.
Maybe these stories aren't the kind Jenny needs to see right now. My mom for instance is a SURVIVOR of lung cancer (very very extremely x100000000000 time GRATEFUL to God). But, maybe just be a bit more sensitive and leave only positive and encouraging things. Let's not chat about "what happened" to anyone else, because it could be triggering to her. Not saying this to minimize ANY of your pain because you all should be able to heal and feel every ounce of that traumatic pain. But, please let's be more positive, encouraging, and show her that we are HERE❤ and her army. God works in mysterious ways_ God and medicine have worked endless blessings and miracles and I feel like Jenny is going to be that miracle 😍. Put it into the universe and PRAY 🙏🏼 big to our creator, he CAN and *HAS*, and WILL**** heal. God, all the glory and honor go to always.

I'm living with cancer too, and it *does* hurt. 24/7. I have bone marrow cancer, and it hurts.
I'm a single mom, and I started getting sick when my boy was young too. And I raised him with cancer all by myself. It was *hard,* but he's now grown, and a super compassionate substitute teacher.
He's amazing.
Don't worry, our kids are *way* more resilient than we think!

May I please add that the devotion and support Kyle shows as a loving husband/spouse and father and the example Jenny shows the kids as a mom who will fight with all that’s in her is the best and most loving lessons of life you could possibly teach your children. They will grow to be more empathetic and caring people. And most of all - they will know and understand the value and importance of being there for each other and being grateful. Jenny, my sister had cancer for 15 years and they gave her an epidural pain pump that delivered her pain med and she was able to press a button to give herself boosters when she needed it. It gave her such a better quality of life. I wonder if your pain management team has offered or mentioned this.
I have been on one, and I agree that it helps tremendously.
If you haven't already have you thought about putting the children in counseling? Also what might be nice for all of you would be grief counseling. And there's also support groups for caregivers. And there's probably also cancer support groups for the children and for you Jenny and for Kyle

Lovie girl, I used to be a paramedic and we carried oxygen tanks in our ambulance and it was never a problem with the Southern California heat. You only have to worry about smoking around them and obviously flames. But other than that, no worries! I love you and continuing to pray for you!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Please don’t let the draining to get put off too long so it doesn’t tax your heart. I may not be a doctor yet but I have been through this with many people that I was very close to. If I could give you some years off of my life then I would do it especially for your kids!

The children will be fine. My late husband had prostate cancer. My children were not traumatized as they were 9 and 11 years. They are 47 and 49 years now and remember just highlights and remember their father and miss him. Not as traumatic as I thought it would be. Take care.

I’m so glad to see you are seeing a therapist. While the journey for the person with cancer is incredibly trying and full of ups and downs and things we can’t imagine, the life of the caregiver is also a roller coaster. I was with my mom every step of her 5 year journey. I didn’t know about therapy or groups or anything like that. After she passed all of those years of stress and helplessness and roller coasters caught up with me. I wish the very best for you both. So glad to see you are a strong team. Resilient ❤️
My husband has stage 4 nsclc with liver mets. Thankfully he has never had pain, yet.. Takes a tiny dose of Oramorph for breathlessness. I pray your pain can be managed to give you quality time with your family.

I started with my doctor when i was 25. He wasn’t much older than me. He’s seen me through a lot. He is the most compassionate person I’ve met. He kind and gentle. The reason i tell you this is because he once told me the reason he became a doctor was because his grandmother passed from cancer when he was a child. He took on a very large roll in helping care for her. She inspired him to help others by providing compassionate care for the suffering. So Jenny, maybe one day your kiddos will become a remarkable physician full of compassion and do much more because of these life moments. My doctor 2 years ago became VP of the entire southern regions in the states. I think that one day he will pass that along to one of your kiddos. Kyle keep up the amazing care you’re providing, and Jenny you keep putting one foot in front of the other. We are praying for you!!! 💜🌸

Eat after pain meds unless they upset tummy. They work better with no food first, it like dilutes them if u take orally. My doctor told me years ago just FYI. Stay on top of it or you do play catch up with the pain. Prevention is better than trying to stop once it starts. Have a good day and rest and I hope they can get you some relief. 20 years 3 different cancers and pain to the point I wanted to die. Keep going please we never know how long but one thing is true the 20 years of pain let me see 2 grandchildren and many blessings. I’m a former medic and there are multiple oxygen bottles in an ambulance. Some ambulances are back up rigs and are parked in elements for days. I don’t think leaving your O2 bottle in your car is a problem. ❤
I think the large windowless patient compartment of an ambulance is better protected from direct sunlight and radiant heat- far better than a car. I wouldnt leave a tank in the car, especially in daytime or direct sunlight. Maybe there is warning on the bottle, or a Google search or the supplier would know better, but I think Jenny's gut on this is correct.
I wouldn't leave it in a vehicle.
Google says:
NEVER store or leave your oxygen tanks, liquid oxygen, or portable oxygen concentrator in a hot car or compartment. Sit near a partially opened window to prevent oxygen from building up in your vehicle.
Leaving oxygen tanks in a locked car can cause severe damage very quickly, as temperatures can exceed 100°F in just an hour and can continue to rise even if the outside temperature is only 75°
The highest safe temperature for an oxygen tank is 125 degrees Fahrenheit.

@@laurasalo6160 in my 20+ year career, never heard of or saw an O2 tank blow up in a hot ambulance or a wheelchair van full of windows. Trust me when I say the ambulances do get as hot as a car in the heat. I dunno, I’m no expert.. just trying to help.
Now, the O2 bottles do act as missiles if top gets knocked of or bottle falls over dislodging the regulator. That will do some serious damage.. I’ve seen it many times. Paramedics can get sloppy with equipment during calls. My suggestion would be to make sure the tank is very secure.

I took care of my husband who had a brain tumour at 31. I was 6 month pregnant when he was diagnosed, and he died when my son was 8 months old. He initially had been given 10-20 yrs. His cancer docs had given him 4 months which was confusing and then 7 yrs by his experimental treatment docs and he didn’t make his 3rd treatment bc his condition deteriorated and he died several weeks later. At the time, there was a shortage in the best meds to treat his type of cancer unfortunately. Hopefully, donating his brain to the hospital center who was doing research in his type of cancer has been helpful for the next people who need those meds.
We would have donated his whole body but people who have cancer can’t donate to live people.

Consider taking the as needed pain medication one hour before the drain procedure. Please stay with the every two days. Taking pain medication 30-60 minutes before a procedure is standard practice.
Jenny is a cancer patient myself on pain meds my suggestion to you from experiences do not miss a dose take it the same time every day whether you feel good or you feel bad you have to stay ahead of the pain

Can er hurts allot. I have stage 4 colon and liver cancer. I have an Illeostomy bag which has been a nightmare. Anyway I lost t50lbs and am always in pain. I am so sorry Jenny. Try stay ahead of the pain Honey. If anyone gives you a hard time about taking meds remember they aren't. Walking in your shoes. I am having surgery #4 soon and am terrified.
