‪@GailRubin‬ demonstrates how to scatter cremated remains of a loved on on Sandia Mountain in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Gail did a demonstration video eight years ago, using garden dirt to demonstrate scattering techniques. Here's a link to that video: • How to Scatter Ashes o...
In this video, Gail is scattering a portion of an old boyfriend's actual cremated remains. She moved to New Mexico with Pete Goodwin in July of 1990. While the relationship did not endure, their friendship did. Pete moved to Oklahoma and Texas, settling down in New Braunfels and marrying Lucy.
When Pete died in 2018, Gail attended his memorial service. Lucy said that Pete had expressed his desire to have his cremated remains scattered on Sandia Crest. Gail promised to help carry out that wish. A year and a half later, that promise has been fulfilled.
The video includes information that scattering on public land is not illegal, however, you are not allowed to erect a marker. Consider noting the GPS coordinates or nearby natural features that will endure over time.

I'm sorry that you lost someone who was special to you. But thank you for sharing this meaningful gesture with your viewers. Several years ago, a friend scattered her mother's ashes at what had been her favorite lake. As if by magic, a butterfly landed nearby and stayed by my friend during the scattering. That one moment was a great, great comfort to her.

Thank you for this. My husband died December 24, 2021 and was cremated and wanted to have his ashes scattered in the Stones River in Murfreesboro Tennessee as it was his favorite spot and he loved the water.
I've had a rough year without him and am finally going to do a scattering ceremony for him with my brother and your video helped me immensely on how to go about doing it. I plan on keeping some of the ashes as well so that I can combine his and mine together on my departing this plane and placed in my mother's grave.
I'll need to look into your book, "downsizing" because we have a whole lot of junk that I need to get rid of. Thanks again.💔
