New Yorker here - It’s a nice apartment, great view and seems like great amenities but you could have definitely found a 1 bedroom in a quieter neighborhood (not in midtown) with sound proofed, double paned windows, for the same price. I think the folks who constructed your building did not put any effort/money into sound proofing the windows. Word of advice, while the views are nice for the famous buildings etc, it’s best to make your home area in NYC one that IS NOT in the touristy areas (midtown/close to 6th Ave) if possible. If you are not in a fully soundproofed building the sound actually gets louder at higher heights, as it echoes off the buildings. White noise machine should help.

An apartment like this costs about 35000 euros (in my country). and you actually own it. sure, its not in new york, but dude, 5k rent is beyond crazy. I've heard about US housing situation but it's still shoking.
I live in NYC uptown Manhattan at Bennett avenue and I pay $1,300 two bedroom master room and a small room, a bathroom and dinner and a big living room two halls and a big kitchen, and three walking closet and is on the first floor…I love it because the place is so quiet close the Precint 34, Restaurants everywhere, school, church and a train station across the street etc. walking take me 10 minutes to the cloister park where lots of people coming to relax, this is the reason why I don’t leave NYC because everywhere that you go it’s getting more expensive!!!!…NYC
So basically, $5K x 12 months = $60K/yr ?? I'd rather save up that kind of money to buy an actual house _outside_ of NYC. But if NYC life still makes you happy despite that ridiculously absurd cost of living just for renting, then more power to you.
I have the same issue regarding the street noise. I bought mouldable ear plugs online and I can't overstate how much they help filter out the noise. It is like a sort of putty that you place in your ear, and it sets to the shape of your ear in 10 minutes forming a sealed ear plug. It only cost about £10 for 5 mould sets I believe.

I pay 900$ a month for the studio apartment I live in right now, with a bigger kitchen and also equipped with a washer/dryer. Aint no way I'd ever pay this much money for my kitchen to be in my bedroom.
I was on the same boat when I lived in Madrid but I paid 800 for a huuggggeeee apartment. But the struggle is real out here in nyc. It’s a different world…
That agent was trying to double dip! One month fee from you, management was paying her another month which would've been no fee to you because she was getting commission from them. Collecting fees from both parties is not necessarily illegal, she just has to be upfront about it in writing to you and management. Because she wasn't upfront, she could definitely get in trouble with her broker and the department of state.
I was blown away that you were a student able to pay that much for an apartment, but that’s not my business. Still blew me away. The comment section is brutal. Assuming he’s a foreign student is wild. Dude doesn’t sound like he’s from a foreign country. Sounds American. Anyway, I like the studio and love the uncluttered look of the place. Love the views. However, how do you work with that window wide open? Good luck with your studies.
Your furniture is really nice and I love the foldable table and hammock under the desk, etc. such good ideas !! I do think if you replaced the words with pieces of art or other non-word lights (like this super cute Pac-Man one), the place would look even more perfect. I think words command too much attention, but I see why you like them maybe put words all on just one wall so that the rest of your interior design can have their moment :)
For $5,000 a month, I would think you could rent a whole house. You’re paying for the view and location. I was born hard of hearing. While there are disadvantages, there’s a lot of advantages too. I can turn off my ears at night. I hear my dog whimpering when he wants outside and fireworks outside, as well as certain other louder sounds but for the most part I can sleep through anything. During the day, if noises are too loud or hurting my ears, I can turn off the aids. So noisy buildings would never be a problem at night. But watching TV or having conversations, I definitely see it being a problem.☺️
Yeah, don't forget to tell them that most people will not be able to afford what your paying for that amazing apartment. Most people will have to settlle for a beat up old apartment in an outer boro or in less expensive parts of manhattan.
Native New Yorker here. $5k for a noisy studio...and not UES but midtown ...ridiculous in my opinion. That's $60k after tax per year. Will be interesting to hear his views in a year or two. (Also brings up the question: How does a student afford this, and living in NYC expenses?)
View is amazing but I can't live: above the 2nd floor, anywhere that has common walls or common entrance area with anybody not related to me. I need a yard and a personal garage.
nice apt, thats look like my apt i stayed in Sheung Wan, HK before; but after Covid, as i always staying at home, thats why i moved to bigger apt now, and i bought my car too, so my apt now come with parking garage~~
As a native New Yorker, who is also a real estate photographer... You are overpaying. I have a 2 bedroom in Astoria, with a 24/7 doorman, gym, and parking, for a little over 3K. Please consider Queens. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Ok for single guy, At that age, it is all about social life. You don't need space to live, you need space to crush after you come home at 4am from local pub. But once you get into serious relationship, women will set you straight. Good luck
Close the toilet lid after use! 🤣My best friend lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Best neighborhood in NYC. We would be happy to show you around, but it's far from Columbia University. Seems to me that there are great areas west of Broadway in the Columbia University area where your money would stretch further, like along Riverside Drive. Old buildings aren't going to have gyms or rooftops though.

I also have a roborock s8, but I don't use it everyday.
Cities should be affordable considering how much housing they can cram, it should be cheaper.
Love the tour of your place. Can you tell me where you got the chair\ladder combo? That is cool!
It’s into description below!
It’s a different world…
damn i was hooked the whole 10 minutes what a cinematography keep it up brotha
The space is very nice for a studio. It doesn't seem cramped at all. Also where did you get your bed and couch?
It’s BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE IT! ♥️
Thank you kindly for sharing! ✨
Good luck with your studies.
such a cool vibe in your apt and all the setup
Love the multipurpose furniture. That gym is sick for an apartment gym❤
Thank you for sharing. Nice apartment, but the price is a little much. I to have issues with noise.
Bro’s maidenless too🤦♂️🤦♂️. What a world
Play some nice white noise out of a surround sound speaker. It'll feel really nice for sleeping and cover any noise
I do that already actually! Thunder storm noises
Where can I buy that transforming coffee table? That thing is SICK!
Yeah, don't forget to tell them that most people will not be able to afford what your paying for that amazing apartment. Most people will have to settlle for a beat up old apartment in an outer boro or in less expensive parts of manhattan.
If I’m not mistaken, the gym room is the one where Matteo Lane filmed a video !!!
Native New Yorker here. $5k for a noisy studio...and not UES but midtown ...ridiculous in my opinion. That's $60k after tax per year. Will be interesting to hear his views in a year or two. (Also brings up the question: How does a student afford this, and living in NYC expenses?)
Enjoyed your video! No links for the bed and couch? A could use that in my modest house lol. Cheers!!
You might as well burn the $5k because that’s what you’re doing. I don’t care about the view. Not worth that much
View is amazing but I can't live: above the 2nd floor, anywhere that has common walls or common entrance area with anybody not related to me. I need a yard and a personal garage.
That is a great studio! I live in a studio that's under 350 sq ft LOL The old apartment buildings are the best!
nice apt, thats look like my apt i stayed in Sheung Wan, HK before; but after Covid, as i always staying at home, thats why i moved to bigger apt now, and i bought my car too, so my apt now come with parking garage~~
Nice video and nice apartment like how you edited it.. quieter neighborhood always better to wind down after doing dentistry
Amazing apartment design and tour! I too filter spaces for their views and amenities (i.e., gym)
When i lived in a city I used to just use foam earplugs at night and started getting much deeper sleep.
The layout is super nice and functional 👍🏻👍🏻
As a native New Yorker, who is also a real estate photographer... You are overpaying. I have a 2 bedroom in Astoria, with a 24/7 doorman, gym, and parking, for a little over 3K. Please consider Queens. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Ok for single guy, At that age, it is all about social life. You don't need space to live, you need space to crush after you come home at 4am from local pub. But once you get into serious relationship, women will set you straight. Good luck
Lucky... I am from New York City and you're in an apartment with a gym... Good luck to you on your studies
I missed my $2200 box apartment in Lenox Hill. It was a gem..
After living in manhattan for 2 yrs I think I will move to BK. Manhattan is just too loud and busy
I live at a similar spot in Boston, I totally get your point about the noise 😂
I just found your channel I love the videos, also Omg studio apartments here in nyc are expensive, the one you have is amazing 🤩
Happy Wednesday NC😀n This is Gonna b so Cool🔥🔥🔥👍….
