Merci pour cette vidéo! C’est tellement agréable que le guide était une Français dame. Le propre et la maison est très impressionnant! La plantation est très belle! Thank you for the video! I am happy that the guide was a French lady! The property and the plantation looks impressive!
you all probably dont give a damn but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
Many many years ago I visited this house because my sister lived in New Orleans, I remember finding a dead armadillo in the garden. Thank you for the memories
Thanks so much for this! I moved to Baton Rouge last year and mom's coming for a visit. This tour looks amazing. Can't wait to get back and see Houmas House again - last time was just the gardens. Mom and I will love seeing this house.
So glad you enjoyed it! There’s so much to see out there. Johnny is from Gonzales, so we enjoy going back to visit whenever we can. Hope you and your mom get to see the house!! It was truly amazing!
RVSWAT thank you very much for posting this video. I looked up the house after watching the movie Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, as the plot would have the house demolished to make space for a road and a bridge. Since Americans have in the past far too often destroyed historic buildings (such as other plantation houses or the Vanderbilt mansions in NYC), I just wanted to find out whether the house was still standing and maybe some facts about the movie itself. It was however a great pleasure to enjoy a long RUclips tour with such a charming guide, it really was like like being there with the rest of the group. Excellent work, thank you very much again
+Stef Bellelli Thank you so very much for watching! We usually try to keep the videos much shorter in length, but this was too exciting to take anything away from it. Tracy really enjoys history, and old houses, and plantation homes...pretty much anything old! Again, we appreciate you taking the time to watch our video! 😁
The billard table weighs so much because English billard tables have the bed made from a solid piece of Welsh slate. This enables the playing surface to be perfectly flat and level.
Very enjoyable tour. The guide's accent was lovely and easily understood for me, probably because there are so many people from other countries working here in Ireland. I agree it's a sad history but essential to see, and works of art, craftsmanship, are just that and should be preserved
The houmas plantation house ,,wow it's simply breath taking the furnishings and the woodwork and I just love the piano ,, and the grounds and trees I just can't say enough ,I just love historic place,s thanks for the video
For sure! Tracy couldn’t take enough pictures of the gardens! We were actually staying at the RV park at another plantation down the road from Houmas House. The history and the beauty of the grounds and the homes is amazing.
+Lori Morrisey It was a little difficult to understand her in person as well. She has that thick French accent! We still enjoyed the tour...the house is stunning.
I had trouble understanding her, too. However, she gave a good tour, though she talked and moved sooo fast. Probably this is because they have 3 tours chasing each other at one time! Too much....
Love that plantation!! It seemed much prettier decorated for the movie (Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte)... of course the movie started in 1929. I watch the movie often. I know all the lines. It was an all star cast. I still hope to see the house someday. That porch was awesome!!!
Surprised that no mention of the movies Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964), Moon of the Wolf (1972), Mandingo (1975) and Fletch Lives (1988) among others, that were filmed there.
Heru- deshet you’ve clearly not watched/listened to properly. There were sheets by the piano with the music for Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte and then they spent about 5 minutes in the room where Bette Davis lived for 3 months while shooting on location. Please watch again, it’s well worth a second look. I don’t know the other movies which weren’t mentioned.
Mandingo and Fletch Lives WERE NOT filmed at Houmas House. They were filmed at Ashland Belle Helene plantation at Darrow/Geismar, which is upriver from Houmas House. You need to research before making such misleading claims. The tour guide is not speaking with a French accent. She is speaking with a Spanish accent.
@@jimfrankmartin47 It is a combination of both, more than likely. It sounds like creole on steroids, since she is so hyper and anxious to get to the next group! You spend your money and should have an easy free flowing tour, without being rushed through and shooed out the back door like one of the house flies!
The house isn’t ours...so it’s up to the owner. They do reside in the house, and they have done their own research. Not sure why they chose the decor they did, but I think it all looks amazing. I’m not a professional decorator or historian, so what’s authentic and what’s not is over my head. 🤷🏻♀️
House was beautiful as were the grounds. The tour guide was difficult to follow and annoying. As a French speaker, I just couldn't bear to hear her "faux" accent. She was really annoying, I had to stop the tour.

The best tour I ever seen ❤️you can actually see the rooms and see how they lived very good the quide was adorable and very knowledgeable.
That map is of the Underground Railroad if memory serves me.
15:14 two orbs flout across the "man cave" ! Great video .

Beautiful home
Am totally digging the ascent !
Thank you so much for taking us along with you. I enjoyed it so much.
We were glad they gave us the ok to show this! Thanks for watching!

Like the guide alot.I understood the guide fine.
Thank you it was beautiful.! 😊👍🇺🇲
What a lovely tour guide! I could have listened to her all day!
Very very interesting
This was awesome! The tour guide was really hard to understand but she seemed authentic to the area so it made it even better!
She probably thinks the same thing when someone like you talks to her.
I used to live right up the road from oak alley plantation

I was there in 1994 and I don't recall those modern murals on the walls.
Thank you for sharing ☺️
👍🏼
Love thee long video. Too bad you couldn't understand the tour guide very well. I could only catch 3 or 4 words in each room!

simply beautiful. If I am ever able I would like to build a southern style plantation house. Thank you for posting.
+laserbeam 002 The wife loves that style house, also!
I enjoyed the tour! Thank you from Australia :-)
very happy you enjoyed the video! Australia!!!! That's awesome!!!

Sehr sehenswert! 👍🏻
Great video, but I could barely understand the tour guide!
Nice verandah
At times I can barely understand the tour guide. Smh.
I've seen several movies that were filmed around there. Movìe,the skeĺìngtoñ ķèÿ, was filmed thère.
Figurine of Abe is solid nickel

Black marble 🥰
hi my friend
The guide looks to be creole.
+Garland Mcgowan It’s very possible. 👍
The guide looks like she is a little Black. About 10% to 20percent Black.
i was thinking the same thing
Spanish lol....
I couldn't understand anything, but great video. Thanks for posting
It was a little difficult for us, too. She has a very thick accent!! 👍🏼
I wonder where she's from.. 🤔
Not being rude but her accent does not fit the tour? I cant listen
The "grass"wallpaper is not authentic to the time period. You need a Zuber style print!

Gosh - she’s nice - But they should have had a southern Lady do the tour - that is just not right - at all
Once again a beautiful plantation but I just cant admire it because they had free labor. Slave labor.
french accent tooooooooooooooo strong

Her accent was actually Cajun French. They are definitely hard to understand.
She was speaking a Spanish accent, not French.
@ Jim Martin, apparently you have never been to France .
