hi i put a note up outside sayin " NO COLD CALLING OR TV LICENCE NEEDED. do u think that will still knock? i dont watch any bbc or live programes anyway but i dont want to speak to them or give my details. cheers for vid :)
I bet any amount of money the BBC are moatering your utube chanel and waiting for you to cock up with your advice.no problem keep them coming buddy.
i recently received a letter saying that as i haven't responded to any of their letters they can get a search warrant ...?
@@lukemitchell1975 Those days are gone when they knock 😂🤣 They use new Tech these days and its very effective too.
@@patriciachisholm9544 I DONT WATCH BBC OR LIVE TV, IV NOTHING WORRY ABOUT BUT I JUST DONT WANT TO TALK THEM OR GIVE MY DETAILS
The sooner the TV licence is history the better!
Don't even admit your name if they ask. just shut the door
You do not have to say anything at all, just close the door in their face.
Better still just look at them through the door till they bugger off.
Defund
Defund
Defund
No other company would be allowed to get away with this, only the BBC it seems.
It's a Corporation, with a royal charter, that's why they can do what they want, kill the charter, no more BBC
And the police run a mile if you contact them. They don't care if 85 year old Mrs Miggins is being sent threatening letters; Cowards.
Nobody can force their way into your home without a warrant of entry. Even the police can't force their way in without any evidence.
unless they suspect a crime is being committed.... "reasonable" suspicion..
@Steve Gee You can't get in trouble for obstructing a warrant which was obtained by an act of perjury. To obtain a warrant they would need to show some evidence to the court, and satisfy certain conditions (S366 Communications Act if I remember correctly). If you're not watching broadcast TV they cannot have evidence that you are watching broadcast TV and therefore the only way they could have shown evidence to the court is by fabricating said evidence and lying to the court.
Having been a victim of a home invasion I have to say anyone forcing their way in my house now gets the sharp edge of the billhook first and questions after, and that goes just as much for a constable in uniform with a valid warrant as it does for a goon or a baghead. No exceptions, I'd rather worry about the legal consequences later than end up undergoing another 20 years of surgery to stick me back together.
@@toddblanks i've never had any hassle from police, but then i'm a law-abiding citizen and have a clean conscience. i wish the police leadership was changed nationally and proper coppers recruited instead of diversity hires and social studies graduates.
Customs and excise can!! Although obviously not relevant to this!!
@@mikeymike1001 and MoD police within certain radius from military installations.
What do TVL Inspectors, Bailiff's and Vampire's have in common?
They can only entire if invited in.
@Steve Gee 😁👍
@Steve Gee definitely
Think only difference in tv licensing case . forcing way without some kind of warrant you be quite within your rights to use force to remove them
great advice dont interact with the scum bags
I get the same letter every few months. Straight in the bin..
I just e-mailed them and told them what I did and didn't do with my TV and they got back to me the next morning saying my cancellation had be processed, A week later I received a two month refund that I didn't even ask for! 👍
I cancelled mine 5 years ago. Had one of these letters this week and I called them. I was firm and polite and said I only use Netflix and Prime. The woman was trying to fish more info out of me. I said I've done what I need to do. Goodbye. I live in a rough part of Liverpool and they think a letter like this is going to intimidate me 😂
Typically underhand Crapita tactics, using words like "enforcement" to try to scare people into buying a TV licence. Sound advice, as usual, CJ.
They always capitalise the word "officer" as well to make it look more official 😂
I have a job advert on my phone that starts with "salespeople" and is from TV Licensing.
Just proves they are a step lower than traffic wardens.
Hi Jon. I got my first "we can help you" letter today, a change from the usual threatening ones. In the letter is states that they (TV Licensing) will be carrying out "Customer Care Visits" As I do not have a TV licence & I do not pay them any money, then surely, I'm not a customer...😁
Yeah I like that, very good video, very informative
If you DO open the door - only say: "IDENTIFY YOURSELF" followed by, "PLEASE LEAVE THE PREMISES IMMEDIATELY." Then close the door. End of.
11 hours and no thumbs down 🧐 Must be an interesting repeat on BBC1 keeping them all occupied 👍
Under Covid no one is allowed in my house including meter readers. I will be tv licence free in January for 4 years.
You're a top bloke chilli 👍 Thank you.
Another classic quote: 'They don't even know your name...that's the crappiest investigation ever' 😆😂🤣
i want a visit , so i can say "chilli jon says no mate jog on " lol
Thanks Chilli for your information. Always recommend you to my friends and everyone as you are the most knowledgeable about the TV licence.
just say did halloween come early lol and if they say what say well you dressed like a clown lol
'Thats the crappest investigation ever' 😆 🤣 😂
Good afternoon chilli another good video I am watching all the TV I want on my fire stick I do not watch anything live TV I certainly certa do not watch the BBC or download the iPlayer on any of my devices I can only say thank you forgiving me the strength to do that and I am not bothered about the letters I received on a regular basis and I certainly will not be bothered about a visits you gave me the courage to stand up for my rights keep it up and defund the BBC 🇬🇧
They'll be forcing their way in to my dogs mouth if they tried.
Yep, my Staffy/Mastiff doubles up as 'door staff'!
@@markarmour1898 I can imagine your dogs spiffing, what a combination, I've got a husky rottweiler cross, he only looks scary really, our cats the nasty one in the house 🙀✌🏻
@@inkwellflood8276 Yeah, Lulu is 30 kilos of ginger muscle. 95% of people adore her. The other 5% think she's a pitty or something. I've actually been stopped eleven times in an hours walk so different folk can pet her. 🐕🦺
The only dangerous thing about her is her chemical weapon farts. 🤭
@@markarmour1898 Nothing clears a room better than a dog nuke, 😌
She sounds like a star, clearly giving of the good vibes if everyone wants to say a hello to her to.
My dog bishop is exactly shaped like a huskie only black and tan like a rottie, curly tail the lot, best mates with a ginger kitten. 😂
Lucky for me any visitor have to get through two security doors before knocking on my front door. So far no Goon visit that I know about. And if they try it’s a simple matter of no warrant no access. Thanks but no thanks.
Great stuff also important to note that they threaten court action. If the letter is addressed the the legal occupier they cannot identify you it is not possible to take an un named person to court so don't give them your name as the man sez just say no thank you and close the door.
Save the letters. I have a large folder of them one a month for over 30 years. If they ever take me to court I will produce these as evidence of harassment.
They can try and force their way in, they will go away in an ambulance should they try! The dogs will rip their bollox off and eat them.
Yep, my Staffy/Mastiff is a very good deterrent.
After that be sure to de-worm your dogs and get the vet to check them out. No telling what these diseases bullies are carrying.
They can't force their way in, even if they have the warrant they threaten you with, it's a civil warrant, just tell them they ain't coming in and there's nothing they can do, police can only attend to "prevent a breach of the peace", they can't enforce a civil warrant
Call the police tell your young daughter been followed home by the inspector
Yea let them try to force into my home, the violent past I have tried to put behind me for several years I would allow to be unleashed,
That's all I should really say.
I love receiving the letters addressed to "The Occupier"
All I do is write "not at this address - return to sender" on the envelope and put it back in the post box
I don't even read the letters, any letters I get addressed to the occupier from any one go straight into recycle.
@StarBar Hippo it will change soon to the legal occupier
I've had a letter to say they will be round on Friday waited all day NO SHOW can I charge them for wasting my time no apology or phone call GRRRRR
Fabulous video again Mr Chilli 👍I would quite happily invite them give them a cup of tea and then just casually say "I'm isolating as I have covid 19" wonder how they would react when you give them the same treatment the bbc dish out daily a pack of whopping great big lies 🤥 😉
My mother is a frail 96 year old. What are they going to do, take her to court ?
probably yes , to them it's an easy comkision sale
I have a hidden camera/mic by my front door that is turned on when I answer it - I would dearly love for one of these pumped up sales goons to try to force their way into my house - the video would come in handy in court to show that I did not go over the top to prevent this and their injuries would be self defence on my part.
Why@ A Blink doorbell can be bought for as little as £20 and does both as well as much more you clown!
Another great post Chilli.
Sure they can... and then you can use reasonable force to expel the 'breaking and entering' intruder.
I've had so many of these letters, literally 20 or so. Only one visit so far though. Just politely told him to leave and off he went.
I wouldn't be polite with anybody trying to extort money from me.
I'm under investigation every other month for the past 10 years still waiting for them to turn up lol the dogs hungry!
I can locate people by paying £40 to a company that’s finds where they have vanished to. I’m sure the BBC have far more powers than me. Letter to legal owner sounds so lazy and pathetic.
Great help Jon!
hi i put a note up outside sayin " NO COLD CALLING OR TV LICENCE NEEDED. do u think that will still knock? i dont watch any bbc or live programes anyway but i dont want to speak to them or give my details. cheers for vid :)
As they walk around catching pokèmons they knock on your door 🚪🥴🤣🤣🤣
They can force their way into my home provided they are happy to require an ambulance to carry them out
had a visit from the bill this week - first time seen copper walking around here in 10 years. might be something to do with the mass shooting we had a couple weeks back mind...
Uk had a mass shooting recently???
I find good phrases to use with unwanted door knockers are: a) Do you have an appointment? We don't see anyone without an appointment. b) No habla. Repeat the phrase to any/all questions. c) Non parlo inglesie. Again, repeat this as often as needed.
you would think you should get paid for having a tv license so that they can target you with ads lol
return to sender, with the message, no one at this address named legal occupier
Return to sender no Mr L. Occupier at this address.
Blot out your address AND the QR code boxes so they have to waste time and money opening the returned envelope to find out who they have unimpressed, opening the envelopes will also bulk up the amount of rubbish they have to dispose of.
If you get the one with the "We have opened an investigation" window, write more than you can say for this envelope under the window, before returning to sender.
If you get the Your IN01O0A34 window write... and you are G00N5 under the window before returning to sender.
The more people waste their time and effort and show that they are not frightened by the letters the less attractive the economics of sending them will be.
Thank you for your help 👊
Im out in the sticks as well declared no licence need almost two years ago no letters and no visits
They get a civil warrant, police can't enforce a civil warrant only a criminal one, they can attend but only to prevent a breach of the peace, tell them they can't enter and they can't do anything, they certainly can't arrest you unless you kick off so just tell them no and don't speak to them anymore
This is last years licence sir- your showing last years show s mate..now sod off !!
How can they enforce something that you are not legally required to have .✔
I live in the USA. We don't have TV license. Commercials pay for the programs. Isn't it the same in the UK?
No, the adverts only oay for the commercial TV channels, the BBC is financed by the licence fee.
If you do not recognise them, then do not open the door to them. They can hear you perfectly well through the letter box. If they are Capita goons, tell them to leave, and terminate the conversation.
they would have to get past a very protective guard dog first my dog would not let them in unless i say they can so if do not let them in he will show teeth and growl and bark warning them to back off
Just act like Manuel from fawlty towers ...no no no rat..hamster and then repeat...
Great CJ
Yes they can, if they want a smack in the mouth!
I praying the try to force themselves into my home
Have the BBC goons been stopped from visiting the over 80’s. Or is it an unfounded rumour.
Most definitely not....
I completed the online form a few months ago and my license expired end of august. I’ve already had a 10 day notice letter but it’s addressed to me personally as I assume because I did that form online. Does it make any difference that it isn’t addressed to the Legal Occupier?? As long as if a goon shows up I don’t confirm anything or confirm my name etc etc?
Same rule applies you are not obliged to speak to them or answer any questions you do not have to explain yourself just no thank you and close the door.
I don't understand why it's called a TV licence when it should only be called a BBC licence as adverts pay for other channels. What's this about live TV as well same thing, adverts pay for them other channels. I got told it was the mast's the BBC put up, then someone else said they where sold in 1997 and even now the BBC rent space on the mast's am I missing something, as I can not comprehend this at all
DOWN WITH CORPORATIONS
Tv licence has the exact same authority as the postman . NONE
I had a TV licence letter saying they were going to get a warrant to get into my house to have a look around.can they do this.
To obtain a warrant they need proof that you are watching live TV or BBC iplayer, if they haven't got proof they can't get warrant.
U.S. used to laugh at U.K., but we now have "broadcast TV surcharge." If you get your TV by cable or DBS, usually that $17 is added to your monthly bill. I have antenna and pay no fee.
Do you live here? No. Dude walks away 😊
Hi.. thinking of not renewing my licence in April. I have things recorded on Sky box…. Will I have to delete them if not viewed by April or can I still watch them after as long as I don’t record anything else.
Jon
Great channel by the way.
My question is
If they have a warrant
And your Not in
Can they still force entry?
As I'm Not sure.
I'm sure I've read somewhere that they can't enter the premises without you being present. Does this constitute as obstruction if you walk out or refuse to enter I don't know?
@@Tranceinyapantz
Thankyou for the advice
👍
they will not force entry its in their own rules even if you are there. they cannot do you for obstruction as they dont know who you are.
Great channel looking forward to the defunding of the bbc
No
No salesman can force his way into my house..he can try,but he'll get a fucking good hiding
What does it prove if they gain access into somebody's home? It's not illegal to own a TV. So they enter and see a TV then what? You need an arieal to recive the radio stations. BBC iplayer comes pre-installed on most TVs and it can't be removed.
What is the irrefutable evidence they will use to show someone has been watching live TV or BBC iplayer? I don't believe they can do that.
The answer should be yes if they have a death wish.
Can someone gain entry after being let in by another tenant in a multi occupied house?
They are behaving like goons in South East London alright
What a great post!
I received the same letter in my accomodation where I stay sometimes on weekdays in Southend on sea. I have a tv license for my home in london which is my main residence. I do not have a tv in my accomodation but I use my tablet and phone when I am my accomodation and sometimes I watch bbc iPlayer , Can I still use it when I’m away from home? And what to answer them if they came knocking ?
Yes, as long as no one is watching the tv at your home in London at the same time
Maybe I am just a jerk but if I lived in the UK and they visited me my goal would be to make em cry. They would hear words and insults they never even knew existed! Lol
Look at the back, if it says Darlington then just bin em. That's what i do. Such a waste of paper.
I had a letter submitted online as they say if I don't respond they'll come, so submitted it online to say I don't watch...and still.says might get a visit...sonwhat was the point submitting
They have to have a warrant.
The warrant must udentifu you by name.
It not enougj to identify you as "occupier": that 😢makes it a "general warrant" an IT IS 2:53 ILLEGAL (R v. Wilkes 1771)
No they not allowed to force them selves in
I'm not going to watch this one. Any force used is a 'malicious prosecution 'of practice. No physical pressure, nor a shoulder nor a toe may cross your threshold without your invitation. Magistrates must throw any of this behaviour out immediately.
People who own TVs deserve FAR worse.
What does owning a TV have to do with anything?
So what if they do have your name were would you stand then
No but they'll try to force their way past you they've tried it before
'They might dress a bit intimidating'?!! Are you kidding? Take a look at your own posts of them.
i got one in a red envelope
They are a governme t organisation thats why they are like they are!!
I Put the 'Red' letters back in the post box unopened , I ink over my address and add the return address to the front of the envelope and pop it in the post box without a postage stamp.
I have TV License because my brother who lives with me watches live football
If I lived alone I wouldn’t pay them a pence
£17 for live tv and BBC iPlayer AND STOPPING THEM FROM THREATENING YOU
You are an angel. Buying a tv licence for your brother’s use of your tv.
If you don't watch chargeable channels that's fine. But if you do, buy a bloody licence, they're never going to give us a free licence, they only put up the annual fees for those that pay to compensate for those that don't pay. And yes, they can catch you out more these days with the new tech they use, I have 2 near by neighbours that recently now have hefty fines on top of the missed licence fee they didn't originally pay.
I begrudge paying more money to make up for those that avoid paying ffs.
Laughable rubbish
I don't watch anything that needs a licence. Why do you think anyone would pay to subsidise your viewing preference?
"new tech"....yeah right.
