its crazy I found your channel over a decade ago when i first got into asian cooking. I was in my early 20s and now im pushing 40. God how time flys ❤😭
Maangchi, thank you for transporting us to Mexico with you! The beach and your food both look amazing. I especially enjoy your travel videos, because we get to live vicariously through you as you experience fun and exciting destinations. You must have many fans in Mexico! ❤
Maangchi, Fresca is a lightly sweet grapefruit flavor soda, but in the US it has artificial sweetener. The Mexican version must have sugar instead. The second soda is apple soda. :)
You need a Dos Ech-ees Mexican beer (XX) with that salty mackeral. We used to catch Spanish mackeral on the Texas Gulf Coast, salt and smoke them a couple of hours, and sit and enjoy them with beer while we fishermen swapped stories of great past catches. And that was 50+ years ago. But your lunchbox looks so much better.
I love coming with you & cooking & eating!! You are the cutest! ❤❤❤ Thank you for all your recipes I've been able to share with my family because I grew up on Korean food and love it so much!!! 😅
That food looks sooooo delicious! my 7 year old is watching with me. He said, Oh Mommy it looks like the beach we went into in Mexico! We visited Rosarita Beach in Mexico (below Tijuana) for the first time two months ago. Anyhow, I really love fish and good to see other recipes how to cook it!
I dont know how long I've been subscribed to this channel, but I always enjoy watching you cook. This video makes me want to make my own Korean lunch box for work.
I hope I can find Spanish Mackerel because your lunchbox looks delicious! Thank you for showing us that you can cook yummy food so easily while on vacation! ❤
Oh I love r recipes ❤ I live in northern Norway and often fish in the fjord near my house. There will be mackerel in the fjord in the summer 😀 and as soon as I catch one, I will prepare it according to your recipe. Hugs!
Your Korean lunch box with Spanish Mackerel looks absolutely delicious! I hope you also find the time to relax as well. Remember Maangchi, it cannot be all work and no play my friend 😁. Be safe and have a wonderful time on your trip Maangchi🙏 As always, thank you for sharing another mouthwatering recipe❤
Yumm!!! Many people in the US shun mackeral because all they have ever seen/eaten is from a can or from a grocery store fish counter (where it is WAY past fresh and smells really fishy). Fresh Spanish Mackeral is a real treat.
I often eat tinned Mackrell in tomato sauce. But there's a huge difference between brands. If I can't have the brand I like, then I'd rather not have any.
Agreed, a colleague finally convinced me to try fresh mackerel from her lunchbox -- honestly, it was a revelation! Such nice texture and flavour, nothing at all like the fishy tinned stuff. And seasoned the way Maangchi does it, I'll bet it's even better!
Fresca is a brand of sugar-free grapefruit soda (using artificial sweetener). You can also find it in the United States, but the containers look different!
My measuring cup 1 cup is 240 ML. I use American units of measurements in my videos and cookbooks, and one of my readers in Paris had a genius idea, which I want to tell everyone about. She bought some American measuring cups online, so now she can make anything!
2 tablespoons mirim (cooking wine). Check out the description box in any video and follow the link for the written recipe. Every video has a written recipe where I provide more detailed information such as ingredients, step by step directions, stories behind, photos, and tips.

Cooking by the sound of the ocean waves. Paradise! Didn’t realize Spanish mackerel has such a dark red flesh. Dish looks yummy.
