I swear this is done for union reasons. Union reps mandate that a given show has a dozen writers or some nonsense. I've never understood this practice. It guarantees the story won't be as cohesive as it would be with a single writer, or even a small group of writers writing it together (as in in a room together writing everything)

But to be serious for a moment, I think that getting used to being in a team of writers have made them overdependent on each other. Kinda like, "Well, Writer 4 isn't working that hard on the part of the script that their responsible for, so it's probably fine if I don't try as hard either." But in Korean shows for example, they (almost) always have one writer for the entire show and the showrunner directs all episodes as well. So I think that people in that position would be like "I can't slack for one minute bcos it's gonna show in the final product and everyone will know exactly who to blame".
Hey Amazon, I got an outline for a Rings of power second age show. Five seasons. S1. A mysterious stranger helps the elves craft rings to preserve their world. At the end we find out that it's Sauron and he creates the one ring. The elves are horrified are take off their rings. Sauron declares war. S2. Elves and Sauron go to war. Sauron destroys Eregion and captures the rings. Numenor comes to the rescue to beat Sauron back. Sauron gives rings to dwarves and men. S3: A thousand years have passed. Sauron rules in the East. Numenor has become obsessed with power and declares war on Sauron. Beats him. Captures him. Takes him back to Numenor. He begins to whisper. S4: Decades have passed. Sauron becomes high priest in Numenor. Human sacrifices. New heroes Elendil Anarion and Isildur fight the corruption. Numenor declares war on the gods. Falls. And the heroes escape to the east. Sauron falls into the sea. S5. Decades have passed. The heroes are establishing their realm of Gondor. Sauron returns. Declares war. The last alliance fights back. Ring is not destroyed. The End. Rings of power really isnt much different from GoT with how its structured imo. It's a lot of talking and such and toward the end of the season there will be action. Anyway I'm enjoying myself and can't bother arguing with people over it, it's exhausting.

It's ironic because Galadriel was one of the coolest characters in all the movies + the PS2 era games. The Hobbits were also decent, Sam is a great character (the real hero of LOTR)... but here we are, this overexpensive CW show was able to ruin even these characters
The “worst” plot is probably the Numenoreans, but the harfoots and Gandalf are the most boring and Galadriel is the worst character. Somehow the Dwarves and Sauron are the best parts of the show despite not being very interesting either…
This episode felt a little meta, in that Amazon created something that was a failure, corrupted, trying to pass the blame around, then pushing forward to do more of the same to make up for the previous failure...

DO you not remember the White women as the Ancient one in Docter Strange? It's almost always bad, and if not let's the writers change the lore, like Nick Furry, Sam was GREAT as Nick Furry just off his own Chrasma, not as the character but as himself as the character just due to himself being a good actor in everything pretty much. But then they changed his origin and made him a Janitor that got his eye scratched out by a Alien Cat This is the evitable end result of changing lore for no reason other than Politics, or in this case a Company wide order of forcing Non whites in prominent roles, thus they had to by company mandate to force Elves and Dwarves to be not Dwarves and not elves, as they view Dwarves and Elves as "White people" despite them being their own race. Alex has been on a mission since episode three and he's finally vindicated. You can hang up the sword, Alex. Justice has been restored to Teleporno and now the internet knows.
Yeah so, that sort of gives you a litmus of their judgement. Even a generic, big budget fantasy by default is a 6. It has a nominal value. 4, 5? Take that opinion. 🤷🏻♂️

I don’t understand where they’re going with all this “evil thing under khazad dum” story. We’re currently set in the middle of the second age. The balrog and the watcher in the water don’t show up until well into the third age. None of this should be going on right now!

I let Joe, OJ and Alex point out the flaws in the show as a narrative. My pet peeve is the aesthetics. 1:56 What is up with this use of raw, uncut stones in the rings? Elves are all about grace, and beauty. Yet they keep setting the rings they make with hunks of raw gems. Are there no means to create faceted stones? Don't the Dwarves (who are renown for their craftsmanship) have any refined gems in their holds to give the Elves for the rings? I shudder to think what the nine rings of men look like in this show.
Soldier gets beaten by a whimp in a fist fight, soldier drops his sword next to the guy he was just fighting, mines don't work that way. People need to realise that the only way this is a 7/8 is if you compare it to the other episodes alone. As far as shows go it's a 4 at MOST. Guess you got back in line as soon as they called the haters sexist, that's like your cryptonite!
Bad shows have a way of corrupting your psyche, I actually didn’t mind the first ep of the season because it felt better than season 1, but as an episode of tv compared to everything else… real bad. Watching these shows take a toll on you.
As I was watching it I was thinking "holy shit they're freaking speed running through this story". I feel like the writers had a checklist of Tolkien stuff they had to include in this season and decided to put 50% of it in this episode.
I have a few questions for the writers: Why didnt the elves ride to Eregion instead of walking? How did the dwarves walk to Eregion, then back to Khazad Dum, then back to Eregion, then back to Khazad Dum BEFORE the elves can reach Eregion or return to Lindon? Are they using Dragon Age Eluvians or something? How did Adar manage to go from Eregion/Lindon area back to Mordor before Elrond could reach Lindon? How come Disa never saw that corridor leading to a secret area right next to the market she visits every day? How can a single orc battalion (as mentioned in the episode), wearing DIY gear and no siege weapons, pose any sort of a threat to a large walled elven city? Wtf is going on??
The only question I could answer is that Khazad Dum and Eregion are right beside each other. Lindon to Eregion tho is like opposite sides of the region.
Overuse of plot devices. Am45zon is treating the geography of Middle Earth as if it were the hyperspace of Disney's Star Wars. Tolkien never wanted that the geography of Middle Earth were a mere backdrop. That geography gave narrative structure and coherence to all of his stories. The author cared to devise coherent distances, dimensions, hundreds of names for rivers, forests and mountains. All of that geography was a living entity that had an influence on the characters and the plot. But Am4zon just butchered all of Tolkien's devotion just for the sake of contrived plots.
I can answer the last question: Adar knows that the show has no budget for battle-scenes, so he can easily seize Eregion with just a dozen extras and a few stuntmen

A trademark of a modern show is a lack of a white man who can direct fights. Because they hate white men, they either hire the very minimum or don't hire them at all. What kind of the fights would a woman with a degree in race studies would create? These! These fights are made by someone who was hired for their sexuality, ethnicity or radically progressive beliefs. Remember what they like to say? Our work is not made for you. Indeed. These atrocious cinema jokes are made for someone who does not function as a normal human.
I liked the Balrog Seeking Ball. It rolled 5 miles down underground to the Balrog crack. Apparently the famous 'say friends' door was ordered from Dwarf Ikea. It was assembled in throne room before it was later installed in hole to the outside. Ring of Power shows Dwarves which way is up for skylight installation.
Why do the costumes look so cheap? The budget for this show is absurdly high. Why does it feel like none of it is going into the costumes or the sets or the writing?

Joe's bad pronunciation is perfect for this show because none of these characters are anything like they should be... They dont deserve to be called by their actual character names.
The pacing on this show is baffling. In one episode Gandalf travels for days or weeks, on screen, whilst the elves have two conversations on the same town. Then in one episode the rings are designed and crafted, whilst the elves decide to leave for Eregion. Then in one episode Isildur looks for Theo, whilst all of Numenor develops into political chaos and installs a dictator. Hours pass, then flip to somewhere else, where weeks pass, then flip back and days pass, then flip back to somewhere else and weeks pass. What is going on.?
4:40 No Alex. They should've established this in the first season. It's already too late for them. The whole Númenoreans hate Elves thing is because they want immortality. The King's Men have been there long before Pharazon. The King's Men and the Kings they support want immortality. They are so proud but jelly because they are the most powerful people, more powerful than the Elves but they only get to live like 300 years. They defeated prime Sauron with the One Ring on his finger centuries ago. Gil-galad's kingdom has survived after Saruon created the One Ring because of Númenor. He begged Númenóreans to help. But Amazon is still doing a terrible job now. Even Pharazon's son doesn't know Daddy wants immortality. So Númenóreans still hate the Elves because they take their job in the show. Everything in this show is such a downgrade to the books. Númenor looks so weak, and the reason they hate the Elves is so weak.
Kind of sad that this is the best episode in season 2 because somehow nothing happened before it. Now everything has to happen very quickly because they are running out of time. If only they had focused on the main plot from the start. The whole story they came up with about the sword and how Mordor was created was boring and a waste of time. Just stay true to the OG story as much as possible and the show would be much better.
I wonder how they're going to depict Celebrimbor's lifeless, arrow ridden body being used as a war banner considering what a bloodless children's show this has been thus far...

I think you guys are right the real problem with the show isn’t lore or anything else as disa/durin are good and arondir/discout Legolas are at least decent. The show is just stupid, the timeline and everything else just doesn’t make any sense! By the time elendil is alive numenor has lots of massive colonies like umbar and pelagir that are thriving! The harfoots shouldn’t be in it at all. The elves are all idiots! The wights come from arnor which is the sister kingdom to Gondor which isn’t made for years and is destroyed after 1000 years or more! Just everything is out of place.

How was this the best episode yet? Celebrimbor is a dumbass. Asks the dude who he's suspicious of if he messed with the ring. What did he expect Annatar to say. Then he doubles down on making more rings out of deceit. The whole "reason" why the 7 are corrupted. And then Celebrimbors assistant is gushing over Annatar a stranger she barely knows over he lifelong master? Why is everyone especially the wisest of all creatures so gullible? And don't get me started on the teleporting of characters between vast distances.
Because Sauron is a MASTER manipulator. The same way the One Ring eventually turns the people who wear it, even the ones outside of the reach of Sauron who have built in resilience, e.g. Bilbo and Frodo. The reason you think it's unbelievable is because the people writing the show have done an awful job portraying Sauron/Annatars abilities.
@@porcu12345 They've also radically changed the context of the deception in this case, the rings were not corrupted initially and there were no warning signs of evil about them getting back to the Celebrimbor, instead he was celebrated for the success given they were really seemingly really great, which is what let the creation of the One Ring work because no one had any reason not to be wearing them in the first place. Now every ring is like a prototype one ring in their ability to corrupt and deceive which would imply more of a Harry Potter Horcrux situation with bits of Sauron's evil being shipped out across Middle Earth which just raises more questions.
@@Soccercrazyigboman IMO, this episode was ‘ok’ compared to the rest because the structure of the episode is what the show should have been. Minus doing everything out of order, for once this show actually let a story build. Makes you wonder what could have been if they actually spent time planning out a story they had rights to in the first place, instead of finding 30 different directors to arbitrarily make decisions about only the episodes they care about.
You guys gotta do something about the format for this. You're talking about how boring a show is for longer than the show's runtime. It needs to be tightened up; I can't keep watching these. It feels like wasting even more time than if I were to watch this awful show.
Also do not forget about Damrod the Only One Hill Troll Existing (probably cool title). He was like where is Sauron after beheading some snaga. He could actually join Sauron and kill Adar: probably better scene then some Orc the Peacemaker killing Adar.
Full disclosure, I looked forward to rings of power series ever since the first reveal trailer was announced, and from the second I took a look at "Guyladriel" I just laughed and said to myself..."theres other things bro...theres other things" 😅 But little did I know the RUclips spectacle that would ensue. The background of the unexplored Ringwraiths was done really well in the Shadow of Mordor sequel. I had issues with that game, but I really liked that story aspect. One of them was Helm Hammerhand.

I enjoyed it, just hopped in to say that. Weird though how apparently dwarfs can go from having no rings to having rings, light in their tunnels, a feast and discover there's a bad creature lurking beneath the mountain while Galadriel moves like 50meters. But other than that its been fun!
This was probably the first episode of both seasons that actually held my interest, most likely because it took a page from the Game of Thrones / House of the Dragon handbook: intrigue, betrayal, a villain actually worth hating and competent acting (taken for what its worth). Doubtful that RoP will be able that shocking level of competence moving forward, but weirder things have happened, so...
I watched all of Season 1 and up to Episode 4 or Season 2, but I just can't carry on. I don't even want to hate watch now because it improves their viewing figures. The best thing that can happen is that this is ignored and just dies.

I can’t stop thinking about how much cooler it would’ve been if they’d showed it as a generational story for the humans and dwarves while keeping the same elven cast, and actually played out snippets of the millennia long timeline instead of condensing it.
I’d rather that Durin was played by an actual Scottish actor, as opposed to a welsh actor. The accent is ok, but it could’ve been better with a native Scot playing the part. Peter Mullen is a legend, though. 🏴
I think the writers are mixing up the ring poem. They think it’s about Celebrimbor and his smiths, but the second half actually points to the fact that it’s about Sauron and what he does to the rings after he takes most of them from Celebrimbor. So I think the writer’s confusion about this poem is why we’re getting things jumbled up.
I think Deesa was looking at her other friends who were trying to sing originally to find where to dig but realise now that they’re now being made redundant
The thing with this show is that they had the opportunity to tell a story with an even more appealing argument than TLOTR . The story of the Rings themselves, from their creation till the moment the Ring is severed from Sauron's finger in battle. I remember when I was a kid and I listened for the first time the description of the rings , it sounded to me like if it where a spell or a rhyme, the finish of it ...and one ring to rule them all... come on, I wanted to see that story in movie as much or even more than TLOTR . AND NOW WE HAVE THIS S..T! FOOK AMAZON , FOOK RINGS OF POWER AND FOOK HOLLYWOOD.
It’s good enough to make me watch every week. Big points: I’m a simp for Mydford Clark as an actress, and the Annatar, elves, and dwarves storyline are great

It's almost always bad, and if not let's the writers change the lore, like Nick Furry, Sam was GREAT as Nick Furry just off his own Chrasma, not as the character but as himself as the character just due to himself being a good actor in everything pretty much. But then they changed his origin and made him a Janitor that got his eye scratched out by a Alien Cat
This is the evitable end result of changing lore for no reason other than Politics, or in this case a Company wide order of forcing Non whites in prominent roles, thus they had to by company mandate to force Elves and Dwarves to be not Dwarves and not elves, as they view Dwarves and Elves as "White people" despite them being their own race.
This would be like changing black African people to white European people for 'Diversity" it makes no sense logically and immediately disconnects the Viewer to what they're watching. We are not dogs you can't teach us to ignore Illogical Patterns like you're teaching us a Trick.

How did Adar manage to go from Eregion/Lindon area back to Mordor before Elrond could reach Lindon?
How come Disa never saw that corridor leading to a secret area right next to the market she visits every day?
How can a single orc battalion (as mentioned in the episode), wearing DIY gear and no siege weapons, pose any sort of a threat to a large walled elven city?

Overuse of plot devices. Am45zon is treating the geography of Middle Earth as if it were the hyperspace of Disney's Star Wars.
Tolkien never wanted that the geography of Middle Earth were a mere backdrop. That geography gave narrative structure and coherence to all of his stories.
The author cared to devise coherent distances, dimensions, hundreds of names for rivers, forests and mountains. All of that geography was a living entity that had an influence on the characters and the plot.
But Am4zon just butchered all of Tolkien's devotion just for the sake of contrived plots.
I can answer the last question:
Adar knows that the show has no budget for battle-scenes, so he can easily seize Eregion with just a dozen extras and a few stuntmen

The pacing on this show is baffling.
In one episode Gandalf travels for days or weeks, on screen, whilst the elves have two conversations on the same town.
Then in one episode the rings are designed and crafted, whilst the elves decide to leave for Eregion.
Then in one episode Isildur looks for Theo, whilst all of Numenor develops into political chaos and installs a dictator.
Hours pass, then flip to somewhere else, where weeks pass, then flip back and days pass, then flip back to somewhere else and weeks pass.
What is going on.?
The true ring of power must be an assh**e because this show is shit 😂

The whole Númenoreans hate Elves thing is because they want immortality. The King's Men have been there long before Pharazon. The King's Men and the Kings they support want immortality. They are so proud but jelly because they are the most powerful people, more powerful than the Elves but they only get to live like 300 years. They defeated prime Sauron with the One Ring on his finger centuries ago. Gil-galad's kingdom has survived after Saruon created the One Ring because of Númenor. He begged Númenóreans to help.
But Amazon is still doing a terrible job now. Even Pharazon's son doesn't know Daddy wants immortality. So Númenóreans still hate the Elves because they take their job in the show.
Everything in this show is such a downgrade to the books. Númenor looks so weak, and the reason they hate the Elves is so weak.
This show is still terrible, but I think this is the best episode yet
As they said, the man who created a better one in the last season did this one as well. Drinker said it was the best one as well in this season
Kind of sad that this is the best episode in season 2 because somehow nothing happened before it. Now everything has to happen very quickly because they are running out of time. If only they had focused on the main plot from the start. The whole story they came up with about the sword and how Mordor was created was boring and a waste of time. Just stay true to the OG story as much as possible and the show would be much better.

I think you guys are right the real problem with the show isn’t lore or anything else as disa/durin are good and arondir/discout Legolas are at least decent. The show is just stupid, the timeline and everything else just doesn’t make any sense! By the time elendil is alive numenor has lots of massive colonies like umbar and pelagir that are thriving! The harfoots shouldn’t be in it at all. The elves are all idiots! The wights come from arnor which is the sister kingdom to Gondor which isn’t made for years and is destroyed after 1000 years or more! Just everything is out of place.

Because Sauron is a MASTER manipulator. The same way the One Ring eventually turns the people who wear it, even the ones outside of the reach of Sauron who have built in resilience, e.g. Bilbo and Frodo. The reason you think it's unbelievable is because the people writing the show have done an awful job portraying Sauron/Annatars abilities.
@@porcu12345 They've also radically changed the context of the deception in this case, the rings were not corrupted initially and there were no warning signs of evil about them getting back to the Celebrimbor, instead he was celebrated for the success given they were really seemingly really great, which is what let the creation of the One Ring work because no one had any reason not to be wearing them in the first place. Now every ring is like a prototype one ring in their ability to corrupt and deceive which would imply more of a Harry Potter Horcrux situation with bits of Sauron's evil being shipped out across Middle Earth which just raises more questions.

Makes you wonder what could have been if they actually spent time planning out a story they had rights to in the first place, instead of finding 30 different directors to arbitrarily make decisions about only the episodes they care about.
You guys gotta do something about the format for this. You're talking about how boring a show is for longer than the show's runtime. It needs to be tightened up; I can't keep watching these. It feels like wasting even more time than if I were to watch this awful show.
Also do not forget about Damrod the Only One Hill Troll Existing (probably cool title). He was like where is Sauron after beheading some snaga. He could actually join Sauron and kill Adar: probably better scene then some Orc the Peacemaker killing Adar.

The background of the unexplored Ringwraiths was done really well in the Shadow of Mordor sequel. I had issues with that game, but I really liked that story aspect. One of them was Helm Hammerhand.

Weird though how apparently dwarfs can go from having no rings to having rings, light in their tunnels, a feast and discover there's a bad creature lurking beneath the mountain while Galadriel moves like 50meters.

This was probably the first episode of both seasons that actually held my interest, most likely because it took a page from the Game of Thrones / House of the Dragon handbook: intrigue, betrayal, a villain actually worth hating and competent acting (taken for what its worth). Doubtful that RoP will be able that shocking level of competence moving forward, but weirder things have happened, so...

I can’t stop thinking about how much cooler it would’ve been if they’d showed it as a generational story for the humans and dwarves while keeping the same elven cast, and actually played out snippets of the millennia long timeline instead of condensing it.
I’d rather that Durin was played by an actual Scottish actor, as opposed to a welsh actor. The accent is ok, but it could’ve been better with a native Scot playing the part. Peter Mullen is a legend, though. 🏴

I think the writers are mixing up the ring poem. They think it’s about Celebrimbor and his smiths, but the second half actually points to the fact that it’s about Sauron and what he does to the rings after he takes most of them from Celebrimbor.
So I think the writer’s confusion about this poem is why we’re getting things jumbled up.
I think Deesa was looking at her other friends who were trying to sing originally to find where to dig but realise now that they’re now being made redundant
The thing with this show is that they had the opportunity to tell a story with an even more appealing argument than TLOTR . The story of the Rings themselves, from their creation till the moment the Ring is severed from Sauron's finger in battle.
I remember when I was a kid and I listened for the first time the description of the rings , it sounded to me like if it where a spell or a rhyme, the finish of it ...and one ring to rule them all... come on, I wanted to see that story in movie as much or even more than TLOTR .
