    There is something beautiful about the word for "language" being a kanji that literally tells you how to say it.

    I think kanji is one of the reasons I fell in love with Japanese. It's like an art by itself, with all this radicals, meanings, different pronunciation, combining all of this in a graphic word...
    Thank you so much, Misa-san for all this information. Since I discovered your channel, my Japanese started to make a lot of sense.

    Misa! I just commented on the other video but through that I started to watch all the videos of the series. I speak Japanese for 10 years now. Never was really that interested in kanji, because as you said I rarely have to actually write anything so I always forgot how to write the kanji... so I was very frustrated with kanji (I can read quite well though) but through your series I got so interested. The etymology is so helpful and interesting. I’m so glad I found your Chanel. When I have a job again I’ll definitely support in patrion! Thank you so much for your hard work!

    Kanji have "phonetic series" (Zhengzhang, 2003) from Old Chinese, in Japanese this "phonetic series" can be used for memorized easier On-yumi readings but in Japanese there are a lots of exceptions at "phonetic series", for exemple : 里 RI village 理 RI logic 狸 RI tanuki 鯉 RI carp koi 裏 RI revers, but 埋 MAI bury

    • @deacudaniel1635
      @deacudaniel1635 3 года назад +1

      Yes because 埋 is an ideographic compound, not a phonetic-semantic character.When you analyze, it just means "in the soil".because 土=soil and 里=inside.

    • @abu-ayyubcedric-ali4041
      @abu-ayyubcedric-ali4041 3 года назад +1

      @@deacudaniel1635 Yes for I remember this kanji, I think "to be buried 埋める in the soil 土 of my native village 里"

    • @deacudaniel1635
      @deacudaniel1635 3 года назад

      @@abu-ayyubcedric-ali4041 However since I know more Chinese than Japanese I used the 里 with its Chinese meaning of the preposition "in" or "at", but in this case, both explanations are right and it can be explained in the Japanese way too because the meaning of "village" is actually related to the word "in", since it indicates a place.

    Awesome video Misa! I really love that you make these videos for different leveled learners - you give a lots of info apart of the basic information about the main reading and also the meaning of the kanji. If you love doing this type of content, please continue with it. But if you think that it wouldn't have a lot of views and you care mainly about it, I'm also fine if you focus on anything else. But this is personally my favourite one, I love to dig deep into Japanese, it's such a beautiful language.
